The website says to use the app and the app says check back closer to your cruise date.  We are departing on Apr 30th.

Make sure you are not choosing “explore dining options” (or something like that), but use the selection that you would use for the MDR.  Choose a day and then both the MDR and SD options will show.  I don’t have a booking right now so I can’t be specific on what the choices say.

Yes we submitted his DD214 back in 2016 to get it. I have no idea why it's not on his CC profile anymore. Very frustrating!

Have you checked to make sure his CC number has not been changed?  Are you logging in with his name and password or with your booking #?  Could your cruise be booked under the wrong CC #.  Just some places to check.

More than that gets refunded to the credit card you gave for onboard use. Perhaps there are other options, but hope that answers

That has not been my experience.  Unused refundable OBC  will be returned by check in about 4-6 weeks after the cruise.  The envelope will say “bottomline technologies” not Princess so look out for it. It is true that you can get less than $25 from GS.

Is Princess Vacation Protection Refundable if it’s BEFORE final payment?

    PVP faq’s

Q: What if I want to cancel my PVP coverage? How does that work?
A: PVP is refundable until final payment is due. For new bookings made within final payment, the PVP plan cost is only refundable within 10 days of purchase provided the person hasn't departed on the trip nor filed a claim.

Hi @Cruise Raider, I think that you hit the link in the post from "host CJSKIDS" that I was quoting.  If you hit the link lower down in my response, it will take you to the Onboard FAQ for "Crew Appreciation and Service Charge Policy" which still shows the gratuity baked into the cost of the specialty dining at a rate of 17%.

@Cruise Raider In addition to what @Abercrombie2019 says above if you drill down to a couple of the menus only the casual dining shows the addition of the 18% in the fine print on the last page.  The SD menus do not.  The service charge for those has always been built in to the cost.  It’s possible that the 18% is just new for the casual and not the SD. I can’t remember if that verbiage has always been there. We will have to wait for reports onboard of what is actually happening.

One quirk that I have onboard using Medallion Net (with my Android) that has persisted since the very beginning of Medallion Net and spanning *several* different Android phones...Comcast email is impossible to use with a standard email client.  I can usually get to my email using the Xfinity email web portal...but getting into it is always CRAZY slow.

@Rick&Jeannie This suggestion may not help but I have comcast and I have my email set up as an IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) account instead of POP3. I don’t have any problems with emails on board. Of course IMAP does not clear your email from the server so you have to go in and delete them separately but it’s worth a try if you’re using POP.  I have always had IMAP set up because we access email using different devices.  I use Apple devices also, so that may be the reason, but I don’t see why it would make a difference.

Snark aside, five days seems excessive.

When we did around South America they had them almost the entire trip BA to LA.  No big deal.  They are not required to go ashore and no need for them onboard.  They give you a receipt which you turn in when you get them back.  If they are required ashore as with the excursion to Machu Picchu they will give them to you.

You have to link your reservation to the Medallion App and then you can go into that and make reservations.

Bookings automatically populate in the app a few days after booking.  No linking is necessary. Access the app with booking number, name and BD or with ID and password.  Then use dine my way to make reservations.

I am wondering how to make reservations for a specific time in the MDR ahead of time. Is it possible?

If not, what is the process to get dining reservations if I have anytime dining?

    Thank you

I just booked a pacific coast cruise. I’m in British Columbia and princess sold me the platinum protection. However I just found out that they weren’t allowed to sell it to me and it would not have been valid I had kept It on my booking and tried to use it. Has anyone else had experience with this or know why some places like BC can’t purchase it? Very frustrating.

For NY it’s because of the “cancel for any reason” clause.  Not sure if it’s the same for BC.

     NY insurance guidance clause

Under New York law, CFAR benefits in the travel context do not technically qualify as insurance because the cancellation of a trip “for any reason” does not depend on the occurrence of fortuitous event.

I went to make a specialty dining reservation on the app, and it wanted to charge my credit card. I have OBC from many different sources, including Princess and the shareholder OBC (also from the TA and from the Princess credit card). Is there a way to make the specialty dining reservation without paying in advance, or by using the OBC to pay?

Or will I have to wait until I am onboard to make a specialty dining reservation with OBC?

You can only use OBC pre cruise for excursions.

I'm hoping I can get more help here then I did via the Princess Customer service line. I would like to make reservations for specialty dining and perhaps the 360 experience on our upcoming Discovery cruise. I was advised that I could do that via the app. We had no problem making our MDR reservations on the app, but when I select Explore Dining Options which should allow me to make specialty reservations I get an error message stating "Please check back closer to journey date to use this feature". According to the person I spoke to this morning, I am well within the time frame to make reservations as we are just 45 days out, but he couldn't explain why I'm getting this message. He kept telling me to just refresh, but to no avail. I'm not sure if removing and then reloading the app would help? I asked if there was a way I could just make reservations via phone - I seem to remember there used to be a separate line you could call for dining reservations, but not sure if that is still available now that it seems everything is driven by the app (which would be fine with me if it worked!)

He finally just said I would just have to wait to make reservations on board, but given this is a very full holiday cruise, I would prefer to try to book in advance. He basically threw up his hands and said, "Oh well"!

So, I've come to the real experts here to see if maybe someone has some helpful advice to offer.

“Explore dining options” only works onboard.  To see specialty dining select the same option you chose for MDR and pick a day and then it should ask you to select MDR or specialty.  I don’t have a booking right now so I can’t be specific in the terminology.

Still hoping to get an suggestion for the iPhone

Go to settings, general, iphone storage, scroll to the princess app and select.  The version will show at the top.  To check to see if it’s the latest version go to the Princess medallion app in the app store and look at the version history.  If there is a new version you haven’t downloaded it will show a blue bar with “update”, if you’re current it will say “open”

On a recent booking, I did receive the on-board credit from a future cruise deposit.  However, when and how do we get the initial $100 future cruise deposit back?

    Thanks.

If you received the OBC it means you used the FCD as your initial deposit which should have reduced your final payment by the $100.  There is nothing to get back.
