  1. I like "down", nice and soft.

The butler will be happy to show you the different types.

These forms, even though it's stated that they are for YC at the top, are not accurate.

There are no small bottles in the minibar anymore (not in CLs) they are 750 MLs and it's now 1 per sailing per room...unless you have a great butler and/or a royal or owner's suite.

Are you seeing Burgundy Snails regularly in the "Classic Favorites" area of the YC menu? It was a new entry and on every evening's menu for our Seaside cruise earlier this month (but was not there during our last cruise in February). I have not seen it on other ships' menus that have been posted recently. We loved this as a starter and began ordering it as a third 'sharing' starter, similar to how we often order the risotto as a third 'sharing' main course.

Thanks for mentioning these. I look forward to having them. How will we know that they are indeed “Burgundy Snails” and not the ones that we have been eating all along on cruises? @Best Cat Mom

Just looks to me as though people have been eating, leaving the empty places on the trays.  That tells you what is good…and what isn’t.  You can make a salad, have dessert, pizza.  I remember small sandwiches.  That was back in 2016 when I had to make a midnight raid on the buffet for my sister.  We had ordered dinner, she had taken her diabetes pills, and was nibbling on a multigrain roll, when she turned to me and said ‘I have to go’.  I knew immediately that the roll had buckwheat in it, the one thing she was allergic to.  She had to leave and take some Benadryl.  That would make her sleepy.  It was the last night and I had visions of her sleeping it off and I would have to do the packing.  But she went to the cabin, took an extra large dose which made her hyper so she could pack.  But she couldn’t eat.  At midnight, she sat straight up and sat there for a few minutes.  I was trying to get to sleep.  I asked if she was going to sleep sitting up.  She said ‘I have to eat’.  So I had to get dressed and hit the buffet.  Small sandwich, little salad, little pizza…might have been a piece of fruit.  Thank goodness for the late buffet.  EM

Agree! Too many different nationalities and late night eaters on the ships.

LOL, MSC will save alot with me since I rarely drink,.  Are you doing any excursions?   I'm still deciding one a couple but I don't always do them since i've been out on most ports already except for PR and Puerto plata

I'm sure we'll make up for it the DH and I as we will be celebrating. Yes to the wines also!

No excursions for us, I stay on board but the DH likes to visit old ports and will get another look at Puerto Plata which he did not get to enjoy the last time we were there.

    How many in your party?

This is exactly why people don't post on these forums. Fanboys who think any review that isn't glowing is automatically false.

Agree! Seems it's the perfect place to challenge and berate and it's so easy because it's anonymous.

It makes it easy to lose interest in posting reviews or even comment on CC boards.

You have been a member since 2003 with only 357 posts... I'm not far behind you... 😞

What are you expecting at 10:30 PM?

MSC tries hard to keep food waste as low as possible. A full buffet spread that late in the evening would just result in loads of thrown out food.

a little more diversity and more food on the trays. If you like chocolate cake and bread pudding, swell! you're in luck.

@morpheusofthesea what time  do they remove the hors-d'oeuvres in Top Sail?

Wanted to see what all the fuss was about in the Market Place Buffet for late night snacks. this 24 second video shows everything left to eat at 10:30 this evening. I was at the end of the line just videoing and tried to capture the pizza in the background around the corner in the last frames.

Not too impressive! Sad! Hope the pizzas look better than the duplication of desserts on mostly empty trays @morpheusofthesea sorry for the double post.

On Celebrity passengers sailing in a Suite can invited others to join them in the Suite dining room, provided there is space available, by paying a fee for their guest.  Am I safe to assume that this is not permitted on MSC and that is why they were trying to sneak their friends in versus making arrangements with the maitre'd to pay from their friends to join them?

Before the pandemic and before up bids were offered, I remember asking a concierge at the YC desk what the rule was about non YC guests being invited to eat in the YC restaurant.

I was told that this was only permitted when YC was not at max capacity and the fee was  $110 per person (if memory serves me right). Not sure if this is still an option.

I just know that this next story is going to 'warm the cockles of your hearts'. Chitchatting with the parties involved. We heard the tale of a YC couple that tried to get their friends (who do not reside in the YC) to join them for our Gala lobster dinner in the YC Restaurant last night. First and most audacious infraction is they snuck their friends in one of the decks that does not pass the concierge station (18 or 19) and at 9:20 pm, 10 minutes before closing time 9:30 pm. They were refused seating and graciously suggested the Market Place buffet. A scene was made and they were directed to see the concierge. The concierge also refused the dinner party. Things are tightening up?

    What a great story!

    Music to my ears!

Who spotted the undesirables first? Was a penalty imposed?

Let’s hope this type of vigilance continues. 🙂

My reference to "The Rockford Files" was to watch the reruns as a training tool to learn how to get information out of an 'asset' by bribing them. Sometimes it is just better to use allegory and innuendo to get across an idea to too sensitive and delicate readers, that get too 'bent out of shape' reading my posts and complain and have them 'flagged'.

    Now, I understand. Thank you

I originally had a balcony and I submitted a bid for YC and got accepted, so I’m looking forward to the longest cruise I’ve sailed in thus far. Let me know if you’re sailing the 15 day duration or the 7 day.

Last year I did a 7 day NCL cruise and I also won the bid for Haven (YC style).  I  also sailed on the Divina for 10 days and Seashore for 7 days, both were regular balcony suites.

Yes, we are for 1 week and celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.  Do join our roll call.  Welcome!

May I suggest "The Rockford Files" reruns.

Sorry, Morph, I don't understand what this means. Can you elaborate a bit?

I miss out a lot on jokes in English.

Been scratching my head to the meaning and to that of Jagr's allusion to Columbo.

I love your posts and all the explanations about the ship.

I didn't want to comment while we were still on board.

We both thought Captain Tuvo was fantastic. Probably the most visible captain we've ever had before. Almost always made his way around the YC restaurant at breakfast time, stopping at every table. On our last day, the morning it was storming and we missed Ocean Cay, my husband and I were out on the One Pool deck having breakfast. It was raining, but they were still serving. Only a handful of us there. Here comes Captain Tuvo and his entourage walking the pool deck in the rain. We were eating our breakfast at the bar, which was the driest spot. Every so often the wind would blow and the rain would hit my back. Captain got a beach towel and wrapped it around my shoulders.

As far as the YC Director goes, I guess he was nice enough. Fairly visible and did come around to greet us  most days, but not the warmth we got from Captain Tuvo. He truly is a gem. "BYE BYE!"

Jules, great to hear that Captain Tuvo was fantastic.

The YC CD is also important to us.  Giorgio, Rob, the last 2 YC Directors and Gene Young, RIP were wonderful.

Disappointing to hear about Iancu Rabdan though   ,..."nice enough"...!

I will try to 'pick up the ball' being left by @jules815 who is departing the Seascape in the morning. Looking forward to another great week on the Seascape.

Looking forward to your "picking up the ball" and reading all of your comments in anticipation of  our sailing.

Folks, it doesn't get any better than this. MSC Seaships have everything we look for in cruising.

We love the food, we love the service, we love the entertainment and we love the more sophisticated international clientele.

Agree wholeheartedly and the ships are beautiful.

Sure I complain about the overcrowded ship, the interlopers, the long lines.

"We love YC for the lack of crowds and rarely leave the area but those interlopers gotta go."
