  1. behavior on airplanes is now so horrible and more frequent now that the FBI is taking criminal refferals from the FAA. There should be one "No Sail List" based on incidents from all the cruise lines and could be enforced on cruises that embark from a US port, like there is a "No fly list" Every who boards a cruise from a US port must have a valid passport, offenders could be tracked that way.
  2. Carnival Country is the South Eastern US, Not saying that is why the reports of violence on Cruise ships seems to disportionately in Carnival ships. Well Maybe I am. I'm 4 stars on HAL and have sailed Carnival twice, both long trans-pacifics one 23 days the other 31. Only heard some yelling and screaming behid closed cabin doors just once on those 2 cruises.
  3. I'm assuming Carnival and other lines have a "No Sail List" where violent offenders and repeat behavior code offenders can be banned from future sailings? With the minors you can find out what adults they are sailing with and put them on the list.
  4. Thanks, it actually called "Drinks on Us" - everywhere on the ship
  5. Hi All- Just booked an offer that includes this, I have a few questions: 1. Price limit 2. Drink limit- I assume 15 per day 3. non-alcholic includes specialty coffee? Thanks, It's quite a deal since it's a $14 day cruise and the retail price would be $59.95x 14 = 839.30 -Paul
  6. I just ask a crew member once onboard, either a cabin steward or MDR steward and they usually give me an exact number since they were just told it. For exaple 2415 on the Konigsdam means about 345 empty berths. They will not know unfilled cabins just total pax. -Paul
  7. Also remember the citizens of Juneau, AK soon have a plebicite on deciding wether or not to allow ships bigger than 250 px make port calls on Saturdays. Around the world in over tourist spots there is a backlash to over-tourism. It's a love-hate relationship with the locals who live there. That would make one assume building larger ships will not increase a cruise lines chances of visiting some of the most famous tourist destinations with their new ships. for lots of HAL passengers things like attractive itineraries and time in port are more important than cost of cruise. -Paul
  8. It's Jan26-Feb 2nd, So after X-mas break and before Spring break and a good month before mardi gras in New Orleans. I don't mind kids, I'm a retired Librarian. I just want decent food and service so my wife will like Carnival and it will give us more options to cruise once she retires in a few years
  9. Hi regular Carnival passengers, I just booked a 7 day in Janurary, 2025, RT New Orleans on the Liberty, Western Carribbean. I've only been on Carnival Journey's previously both on the Luminosa. The first was 22 day and the 2nd 31 day Trans-pacific. So what can I expect for a more traditional Carnival cruise, It will be my wife's first time on Carnival we are both 4 stars on HAL. Current reviews of the Liberty on CC range from "Awful/Never Again" to "Great/the crew really shined" so with that wide of a disparency with reviews what is it we should really expect. My 2nd experience on the Luminosa was much better and more enjoyable than the first was. Thanks, Paul
  10. Tier 1 - free Inside cabin offer (Loser) Tier 2 - Free OV cabin offer (Big Loser) Tier 3 - Free VH cabin offer ( Very Big Loser) Tier 4- Free SY Cabin Offer (Impressively big loser) Tier 5 Free Neptune Suite Cabin offer (Super -duper 5 star gigantic loser)
  11. I pre paid my gratuities yesterday, $496 USD. It's nice to have out of the way.
  12. FYI, I checked in for the cruise today and the website says it ends on May 2. It ends on May 2 Australian calendar, but May 1 US calendar. -Paul
  13. When is the best time to call about an Upsell Offer. This is only my 2nd cruise on Carnival. On Hal they start sending upsell emails about 10-14 days before sailing when they start assigning GTY cabins. I'm perfectly happy with my Premium Balcony but it does look like there are Suites available in every suite catagory. Thanks, Paul
  14. Just got my Austalian E-Visa, it's $20 AUS. Don't for get to do this before you head down under.
  15. HAL use to station a smaller ship at Tampa during the Carribbean season, but now it's Port Everglades or bust. Which Means for lots of us Bust.
  16. Carnival is pretty good about having a solo dinner table or daily solo get together on sea days
  17. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/global-cruise-ship-industry-having-165431737.html -Paul
  18. Just paid off my balance! Now just 98 or 97 days to go. An entire month at sea crossing the mighty Pacific Ocean! -paul
  19. Yes any cruise ship casino is much worse for payouts then a land based one. I know the HAL ships even have something posted about meeting the minimun Neveda State gaming laws. Slot Machines payout in the 85-88% range, Video Poker maybe 90-92%. Whereas my favorivte place for land based gaming Reno, Slots usually pay out around 95% and Video Poker 98% Vegas strip casinos are also very tight, better chances are off strip or downtown. Good Luck, Paul
  20. HAL needs to prove to the parent company CCL that they can sustain profitablity and are worthy of new capital investment. CLL is awash in junk bond debt and ordering new builds is not fessable until they pay that down. Maybe a new HAL order in 2027 or 2026 at the earliest. There is a rumor that CCL has a Sister Ship to the new Cunard Queen Anne on hold with Fincanitieri and that order could easily be converted to a Pinnacle class ship for HAL since it is the roughly the same size as the New Queen Anne. -Paul
  21. the ship will be working the Alaska season so additional tipping "face to face" crew in US dollars will be appreciated. You can't get out of the on board daily gratituty fee. My Carnival Cruise consultant who I booked with advised to remember to pay in advance so it doesn't come as sticker shock on May 1. We stop in a few Alaskan ports before Seattle and you can get USD out of ATM's there. You luggage question?? I think you might have to lug it to SEA and check it in for your HNL flight. Hope this helps, Paul
  22. I've been on 1 carnival cruise (4 stars on HAL) they had seen my gambling habits on HAL since they are in the same corporation and offered me a free 22 day transpacific in a Balcany room. So I took them up on the offer. Now I'm booked for a 30 day transpacific in April 2024. original offer was for a free OV, but I upgraded to a Premium Balcony for $1500 for a 30 day cruize that makes stops in Japan. I pretty good deal I reckon. I dropped about $4k on my first 22 day cruise on Carnival, the alogrithim for casino cruise offers is mysterious on all the major lines. If you see a great offer and it fits your schedule take it. I'm retired so I can practice what I preach. Good Luck, stick to your budget and enjoy the cruise Paul
  23. Just booked, Japan was the hook. I was on the Luminosa last April for a 22 transpac that took the southern route via Tahiti and Hawaii. I'm hoping the dinning room has gotten better since the ship has been in the Carnival fleet longer. It felt like crew was just still learning the ship since it was a hand over from Costa There is a nonstop to BNE on united from SFO, also one from YVR on Air Canada and I think Quantas has one from LAX -Paul
  24. You would have to re-book and lose all the perks in your current offer
