  1. Certainly not as convenient as the Manhattan Cruise terminal but I don't get the 60 minutes. They must be going the long scenic route. Unless driving during peak traffic times the drive should be no more than 1/2 hour from the Brooklyn Terminal to MOMA.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

This particular excursion would be on a Monday morning, arriving at MOMA around 9.30 am so I'm guessing they're accounting for traffic.

Just to be clear I'm not whining about the time it takes. I was making the point that when I read their estimated travel time I realised that we weren't docking in Manhattan as that would be much quicker travel time to MOMA.

I'm not sure why this port change has happened, do you know why kkmiausa?

  2. According to the NY Cruise Terminal schedule its Brooklyn.

    Thanks for this!

Last time I checked - several weeks ago - it hadn't been updated even though the port change apparently happened quite a few months ago.

When prelim docs arrived and one of the excursions detailed a '60 minute drive from the ship to the Museum of Modern Art' that pretty much confirmed my suspicions that we would be in Brooklyn. Checked with friends who said they believed the terminal would be Brooklyn.

  3. If you want a huge suite you can choose the Wintergarden, Owner's, or Signature suite. SB offers a couple of extra amenities for guests booked in those suites. On shorter cruises, less than 20 days for example, I'm happy with the 'standard' suite. There's plenty of storage space, walk in closet and so on.

The room layout, ie a floor plan, is on the SB website, it has a floor plan for every suite category.

You can spend as much or as little as you want once onboard. If you prefer fine wines to the included ones, you can purchase them separately.

All food is included, at this time none of the restaurants have an additional charge, room service is included too at no extra charge. If you like caviar you can have it.

While it's nice to not have to worry about who is picking up the bill after a couple of rounds of drinks with new friends, IMO the best things about Seabourn are the wonderful crew, the small ships, the other guests who are usually sociable and well travelled, and just the general onboard ambience. And no lines.

  4. Thanks for this update! I'll be on Quest in a few weeks, probably won't be using the deck furniture much but I had wondered about the mattresses.

I'll be interested to know what you think of the comfort factor of the new chairs for the Patio Grill if the furniture for Quest is the same as the other two ships have been supplied with recently. I don't find them at all comfortable. All the other new deck furniture was fine for me.

  5.

To get back on topic (somewhat), could someone let us know when Azamara last went through a major refurbishment? The same can be asked of Crystal, Silversea or Seabourn (note: some Siversea ships have recently gone through a refurbishment but it was a very long time since the previous refurbishment).

Let's try to look at factual information rather than opinions - at least for this thread.

You do realise that the oldest ship in the Seabourn fleet is the Odyssey? It was launched 7 years ago. I believe the oldest in the Regent fleet is the Navigator, launched as a cruise ship 17 years ago?

I'm not sure why you're trying to tell people how they should be posting. Firstly this isn't your thread. Secondly it's a comparison thread. It will be a mixture of fact and opinion as it's based on guest experience.

  6. Lousy marketing. Seabourn gratuities are well known to be included.

    Quite. Regent should know that.

Regent should also know that the 3 current Seabourn ships are identical in size. There is a slight difference in facilities in the spa on the Odyssey but the suites through each category are the same size on each ship, as is the space/guest ratio.

    From Seabourn.com:

"Seabourn Odyssey has since been joined by two identical sisters, Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and Seabourn Quest in 2011."

  7. Hello spinnaker.

Finally I caught up to the end of your thread so far. Super pictures, thank you.

I was a little taken aback when reading your listing of names including 'art hawker' role. Can you tell us more? Is this a permanent thing for SS or something they are trying just for the busy Med season?

Interesting about the dress code or people not following it. I have noticed this on SS and SB too in the Med.

Speaking of SB, you caught two shots of the Seabourn Odyssey from your vantage point in La Terrazza there in Corfu, behind the Aida.

  8.

P.S. The error on the size of the suite on the Quest was picking up the price and size for one category lower than stated. Since the comparison was printed, the cost of Seabourn (and likely Regent as well) has gone up so it is really important to double check numbers and for each person to do their own comparisons. The Regent comparison chart is a good place to start (copy and paste - take out their numbers and put in your own).

Can you clarify what you mean by "picking up the price and size for one category lower than stated" ?

They gave the price for a veranda suite. They gave the size of an ocean view suite. That was incorrect.

  9. Sorry to read this Galeforce.

I have SB friends who use a certain regal TA and found themselves in a similar situation. The issue was resolved satisfactorily and future cruise deposit was carried over.

The problem that I can see here is that you must be relatively close to departure date if the final balance is almost due. My friends were about 6 months out from departure, that may have helped their case.

There are no guarantees in this situation, as you know, but the regal ones have a very strong relationship with SB and if anyone can help you out on this, it would be them.

Will keep fingers and toes crossed for you.

  10. I make a donation to the crew fund instead of going the individual tipping route.

As an aside, I'm not sure there is much 'exceptional' service on SS. Not in my experience at least. The service is generally good to very good, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it exceptional.

That said, it's been a while since I sailed with SS. Perhaps there have been some big improvements lately.:D

  11. Haha, turned out to be a pushover!! (I reminded him of the queues and how he loves them...)

Here's hoping they don't reject us!

I'll be very interested to know how you get on!

Pamela1 - sorry for the slight derail of your thread when I posted about GE but I wanted to make it clear that it is available to some other nationalities.
