  1. You can arrive anytime after your window as long as you are there before final boarding.

    Awesome!

I went ahead and selected the earliest Window since we should arrive by 10:30 and we LOVE getting on board as soon as possible!

  2. Does it matter if you arrive later than your assigned time?

We are driving in and hard to pinpoint exactly when we will arrive, so I thought maybe I should just pick the earliest possible and then we could get in whenever. ????

  3. The money was paid, yes, but it's lost as a penalty for cancelling. That means the OP must fork out a fare for the 2nd bed. Rates are based on double occupancy. The original fare doesn't automatically shift to cover the 2nd bed.

Oh, so not only does Carnival collect all (or 75%) of the cruise fare - they also get a chance to turn around a resell the cabin? Great.

So even if they cancel the day of the cruise - and Crnival gets to keep 100% - the poor OP is stuck, because Carnival wants the opportunity to resell the cabin to collect even more.

    Sounds fair

  4. I don't know how to find it, but when we made our last reservation, everyone in our cabin automatically had their number.

I thought for sure, after I filled out all the guest info that the numbers would show up automatically - but they did not. I guess because I booked online under my husband's acct. and only added the other passenger names later.

  5. I'm sorry if this is a tired question, but I've searched google, Carnival, and this forum and cannot find the answer.

How do I find my and my kids VIFP numbers?

We have my husband's already attached to our acct., but I cannot find a link to getting the rest of the families numbers like I have in the past.

    Thanks!

  6. The hot water spigots at the coffee stations have always served the purpose for making tea for us (tea drinkers) - it's not boiling, however, you don't really steep tea in boiling water either (boiled, yes, but no longer boiling). And yes, we travel with our favorite tea.

I think the OP is brewing coffee - not tea (just using tea bags to hold the coffee for brewing) and in that case I do not believe the water is hot enough. I bring my own tea too - but only the ones that can steep at a lower temp, like green.

  7. That's like saying "I walked into Wendy's and asked for a Big Mac. I was surprised when I couldn't get one".

I'm sorry that they were disappointed, but I don't understand why they assumed two totally different cruise lines would have the same policy.

Because if you are not a Cruise Critic Junkie, and the only experience you've had is that there is no smoking in casino - why would you even look for that information? Kind of like folks that are used to Carnival's self-serve laundry boarding Celebrity and being shocked to find there is none. Or never having to check out a pool towel on Celebrity and then finding out you must do so on RCCL. Yes, the info is out there - but when you are on the Carnival website - or a TA website - there are no big announcements that smoking is allowed in the casino.

(Oh, and my daughter used to work at Chick-fil-a and folks asked for hamburgers all the time!)

  8. Wow, that's good to hear! We like nice.... It definitely seems like a step up.

It seemed like on every Royal cruise, the food was getting progressively worse. We took a CCL cruise in between, most in our group, including us, thought that the food was better on CCL. Anyhow...

I have to agree with you about the food. We thought Carnival was better as well.

We are going on our first Celebrity cruise next week and sure hope the food is better than RCCL.

  9. After researching these boards for a couple of months before we cruised recently on Infinity, I felt very prepared for our Panama Canal cruise and honestly I was. Still there were a couple of items that I wish I had known and prepared for better, so I thought I would share the few things I would have done differently and hope someone else can benefit from my experience.

First, the hairdryer. I wish I had brought my own. The reason? The hairdryer requires that you press a button the entire time it is in use. That would have been fine in my younger days, but with the arthritis I now suffer from, I was unable to use it. My poor DH had to dry my hair for me. I'm sure this isn't a problem for most, but it you suffer from arthritis in your hands, bring your own.

Secondly, the beds on this ship are hard! Wish I had requested the egg crate on the first day. Check the bed when you get to the cabin so that you know if it is a good fit for you right away.

Third, I would have stuck to shore excursions with no more then 20 people. All of the shore excursions we were on had a large bus full and it definitely affected our enjoyment.

Lastly, If you enjoy a deal and don't have a beverage package= look for the "Daily Pour"- It is listed in your Celebrity Today and it is a $5 craft cocktail that changes daily.

We really did have an amazing time on our cruise! This stuff was trivial, just information hoping to enhance your cruise . Happy Cruising to all!:D

These are great tips! Thanks for sharing!

  10. He was with Royal for many years prior to X. We had him many years ago on the Freedom and he was wonderful. My wife's favorite CD!

He was the CD on our very first cruise (Freedom) and pretty much spoiled us to any other CDs. They have seemed lousy in comparison.

Here's hoping the CD on Eclipse (apparently Eddie Jenkins) turns our better than so far reported.

  11. The entertainment was excellent in the theatre on the last sailing, the three show productions were good for a cruise ship. Big Dog Drew and his orchestra were FANTASTIC! Tom the Irish singer in the productions is the best of all of them. I too have seen many shows in the west end but don't think it is fair to compare them really.

Only one evening show was lacking and we and many others left and that was on the last night Sonic Eve, three women from Canada and it was awful, so cheesy and what cruise ship entertainment used to be. Oh the magician wasn't very good but he still raised a few laughs.

The only other thing that was not so great was the heavily accented singing from the house band female singer in the foyer, we used to joke that the girl singing was a housekeeper who had chucked the real singer overboard to get her job. We were not the only ones commenting.

CD (who is Welsh not English) had a dry sense of humour, not the best out there but he was OK.

    Thanks for the info!

We will definitely have to be on the lookout for the house band female singer so we can continue the "mystery at sea!"

Actually, coming up with scenarios for interesting folks we see is a favorite past time :D

    We sail in 11 days!!!!

  12. Current CD is Eddie Jenkins, he came onboard as a replacement for Sue Jenkins, on November 13, 2016. Not the most energetic or present CD. Other than seeing him at the beginning and ending of the shows we have only seen him once in the oceanview. Must mention that in port stops we have been absent most of the time.

Yesterday was an exception as we were in St.-Maarten with 5 other large ships so we were eager to return to ship early, around 2:00. Entertainment by the pool consisted of a short bingo game.....can you believe it bingo by the pool? A little embarrassing as other ships with fun activities going on were all around us. Then a set by the Big Town....hummmm. Long afternoon!

In the evening, things picked up as the ventriloquist Gareth ???? Sorry forgot last name but we had seen him before and happily returned. Same show and if you have seen him will probably remember. Wild hair and tight pants, wife named Alice. Large part of show consists of an audience member with partial mask on...is this ringing any bells? So good fun but not much going on after so an early evening.

Tonight seems promising, the Rock city show, followed by Abba sing along and dance in the Sky lounge!! Can't wait. Let you know how that goes. During the day, mostly bingo, trivia and a few enrichment lectures. By the pool, volleyball and some live music..all the regulars. Sea monkeys will be in the Sky lounge from 10:45 until late...let you know how late!!

If you haven't booked yet and are considering different ships, I would suggest going on Equinox. Current CD is Alejandro. Probably the most energetic and hardworking CD we have seen. He is constantly asking for feedback from guests and is everywhere...wonder when he sleeps. Given a chance, we would cruise with him again. If not, well you are on a cruise..and how bad can it be? We always seem to find some positives. Have a good day!

    Thanks for the update!

Hopefully Mr. Jenkins will step up his game by the time we cruise (2 weeks - yeaaa!)

But - we don't cruise to meet CDs so all is good :0

  13. Thanks for all this info!

I'm sorry to hear that the CD is not entertaining. We've had a string of bad CD's lately, and I was hoping for a change. Oh Well.

Also sorry to hear that everything shuts down at midnight. We are night owls and are always looking for stuff to do in the early am. I guess we'll just have to readjust our clock and start getting up earlier ;)

Hope Ms Curry is back on the eclipse in a couple of weeks!

    Happy Thanksgiving nusailer!!

Today is a day of feasting in the U.S.

I hope you all have fun and enjoy your time with friends and family.

But don't go in without a plan!

Don't let your feast day turn into a binge. I find it helpful to limit myself with plate size. For example, use a smaller sized plate and allow myself whatever I want, as long as it fits on the plate - and no refills. This works for desserts as well.

    Have a wonderful day!

  15. We have been dozens of Celebrity cruises and have always been able to fit two large cases and two carry-ons under the bed without a problem. Our large cases are 12" thick and fit with room to spare.

Thanks! That is helpful info. I have been wondering whether I can take my huge suitcase.

  16. My guess is that you are clicking on the thread title and having to scroll down to the bottom of the thread. Click, instead, on the downward icon to the left of the thread title and you will be taken to the first unread post.

I've been on CC off and on for 5 years and never knew this!

Thanks for saving me a little time!

  17. We got to see Jayne Curry last night...same show but still fun. She will be in Liars club tonight so should be funny. Tonight's show is featuring Gary Lovini..I don't remember seeing him but will certainly give it a try.

Lovely German couple asked us to join them for dessert in Tuscan grill. They were very interesting and felt like old friends as they had previously been seated at OUR table in dining room. Say our as we enjoyed first night so much that we asked to be assigned said table every night . They mentioned that Big town was very disappointing and they had left the pool that afternoon as they could no longer take it. Can't give an opinion yet as I have not heard them yet.

The afternoon entertainment by the pool on sea days normally begins around one with the line dance. It is usually followed by the DJ and then some kind of pool game. Then the band and one of the mellow acts around four. We wound up on solstice deck as we got to the pool around 10 and it was really crowded. Most people don't stay all day and if just two of you, you can usually get a pair of chairs quite easily. You can always ask an attendant and they can sometimes find some available chairs by moving two singles around. we usually have lunch around 1-1h30..then do some activity so we have missed most of it. Hope

    That this helps.

You can just have dessert in the Tuscan Grill?
