Cabins get harder to fill closer to cruise date. They would probably have to lower the price on your cabin to fill it at this point in time so they could very well be losing money on your move, not gaining revenue.

I drive a Mazda Tribute (small-medium size suv) and I have a drive on scooter platform attached with a trailer hitch, the ramp folds in the middle and is very easy to let down, walk beside the scooter while steering it up the ramp, and was very inexpensive. If left in the down position it sticks out about three feet from the end of the car. If not in use it, folds up flat against the back door.

I will let you know my comparison at the end of June. I have cruised Norwegian Wind to Alaska same itinerary years ago, sailed the Carnival Magic twice out of Galveston and will be on the Pearl in 17 days!! :D
-
Don't forget you will need to request a handicapped accessible stateroom if you have a scooter. They must be stored inside the room and won't fit through the door of a regular cabin.

I am cruising to Alaska with my daughter and three grandsons aged 1, 4, and 10. I know the 4 and 10y/o will love the kids club and I need to know what is a usual tipping amount at the end of the cruise for the kids' club staff?

This is true on all the Dream class ships from Carnival.

Great review!! I, too, love Sony Cameras and now you have me shopping for a new one for the Illustration effect! I started this at 8pm and it is now 2:42am and I have caught up. Can't wait for the rest! Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to let us cruise vicariously with you.:)

You may have to pay the rest of the deposit in order to get any OBC. That happened to me before on my last Magic cruise that had a reduced deposit but in order to price match for OBC I had to pay the rest of the deposit.

I purchased a "blue" towel and love using in all the time. I passed up buying a yellow spa towel and have kicked myself ever since so I will be getting one next April on my next Carnival cruise! They are each $25 I believe!

Loving your review! I have been on the Magic twice and can't wait to go again with more family!

Beds as a king and request a crib for the toddler. REquest in advance as they are limited!! We are in that "boat" going to Alaska in June.

Thank you SO much for this great advice. You said it fits snug in the cooler. Do you mean the cooler Carnival sells online? If so, that's great!!
Yes, the bucket from the bar fits snug into the cooler in the pix shown earlier. Really works great, love that it has a bottle opener attached to the zipper as well as the plastic cups, we have gotten great use out of all the items included!!

I have the same situation, I am traveling to Alaska with a friend, my daughter and her three children (my grandboys). We are in two cabins of three, but in reality, there will be two in one room and 4 in the other. Both are cabins that sleep 4 next door to each other. Hoping we have the same steward as well, but we are leaving it as is.

Bought one filled with Coca Cola on the Magic and it has been on several trips since then. Went to the bar and got a bucket to put in it to prevent sweating and leaks and it works perfectly ! (brought the bucket home with me and I use it every car trip)

thank you :)
we'll be having 3 kids....2 1/2 (which is the Guppies I guess and a parent is required to attend) a 4 year old and one 9 year old.
I think the 4 and 9 year old would love the activities :) when I was on the Pearl one time, going down stairs, a large group of kids with a teen were going up the stairs loudly lol looked like they were having a blast.
Too bad we are on a different sailing date in JUne - we have three boys the same age as your kids!
-
Curious as well! I have 8598 and 8600 booked.

I've sailed twice with 4 adults in an inside room and a balcony. We had a great time. Some went to the gym to shower, sometimes we just came to the room in shifts to dress for dinner, slow folks were first, thus missing the most time on deck! (as it should be) - I was among the fast showerers! You will have a great time and you are on vacation, not sitting at home saving money for that "some day" when we have enough money! If I did that I would never have gone on my first cruise yet, much less all the wonderful bargain vacations that we have experienced.

Traveling with similar numbers as you (3 adults-3 kids), we have two ocean view rooms at a cost of just under 1000$ per person. We are sailing on the Pearl out of Seattle, have done this itinerary 12 years ago and love Glacier Bay, I feel it is a must for first timers. Remember that tips and excursions are not included in the price and must be considered when making a budget.
-
There will also be some excursions that you cannot go on without a passport on an Alaskan Cruise, we had to get passports for my three grandsons for our upcoming cruise to Alaska and one of them is 14 months old. The problem is the re-entry into the US. Without proper documentation, the cruiseline won't let you board knowing that at debark there will be immigration problems.

I usually take my insulated tumbler that has a straw in the lid with me on the trip and keep it filled with ice water (ship's water tastes fine), iced tea or a mix of the lemonade and iced tea (very yummy). Be sure to try the pizza as well, available near the main pool or outside of the buffet on the ships I have been on available 24 hours a day and free, also. On sea days there is also usually an outdoor grill turning out sliders, hot dogs and quesadillas.

Both of my adult children have slept on them for a full week each on a friends and family cruise, no complaints from them!

We are taking Norwegian Pearl round trip from Seattle to Glacier Bay, Have done this trip before and loved it. We will have my three grandsons (10, 4, and 1) as well as my daughter and a good friend. It is the best possibility for us. We went on Norwegian before and had a good mix of ages and families.
-
We are heading out on the Pearl in June and plan to do the Yukon trip. We will be traveling with three children, 10,4 and 1, and we got passport cards for them - cheap, easy to carry, and not as fragile as a paper birth certificate to carry around.

I agree with others about going to Cucina at lunch on boarding day or any lunch day for that matter. The food is made to order, is delicious, and FREE at lunch.

I believe the television feed to all Carnival ships comes from a provider in Miami, so if that provider carries NBC you can probably see that game in the stateroom. "For pay" channels, like NBC Sports are probably not carried by the provider. Television choices are limited for the CD to be able to choose what to show.
