The ship looked fine to me last month anyway. AS for the TV's we could not access our on board account on the TV we had to get a print out from the machine next to the main desk.

So, if I have read all the answers correctly, as we have the "free" UBP as part of our cruise, we have already paid a tax on it. So NCL should not be charging us any additional tax, irrelevant of where we are sailing. When we start our cruise in Barcelona, I will find out soon enough if they are charging us more tax on our drinks. I will then be able to rectify this at the desk with a major adjustment to my service charges to compensate this....

Going on the same cruise in 6 weeks time. We have been on a Canaries cruise 4 times before and every time it has been rough going to and from Madeira. We had to turn around once on the way there as it was too rough to continue.....

I was there a few weeks ago in a similar situation. There were 8 ships in port, hence very busy with long traffic jams as you can imagine. Not a whole lot to do apart from a taxi to Fort Lauderdale - though not much there either....

It is not a new policy, which is why I asked if it was still in place.

I remember the last time we sailed in the Med there was an extra charge on every drink on board while in any Spanish port. Is this still the case? Does it affect drinks packages if it does?

Walk! Takes about an hour or so. Stop for a bite to eat and a drink on the way. A far better way to see the place.

What about passengers from the UK, where the legal age for buying alcohol is 18? Although I am ever so slightly over 21........

So these changes could then improve the utilization of what seems like a wonderful space.

Yes its a great place but under used - maybe they could have put a band up there, as there was only the violin/pianist working most nights, until the show started. They had the house band playing on deck 3 some nights, but when they were needed for a show there was nothing else to see. very little happening until the show started

On our recent 2 weeks on the Niew A. the pace was virtually empty all day - except when the happy hour was running.

Those who say they will never sail with them again, its just hot air. If the price is right they will still sail with Princess.

We sail on this ship on Sunday for 2 weeks. Looking forward to swimming in that sea already. :)

I have the free drinks package for our February cruise. I am assuming that, like other cruise lines we would pay nothing when we order a drink up the the amount of $15 I am sure I read on here that from December we will now have to pay a 18% service charge for each drink we order now? Is that correct? If so, what is 18% of nothing - for that is what we will be paying for our drinks? If this in fact correct, then there is no "free" drinks package and passengers will be paying 18% of drinks prices rather than nothing up to the stated amount.

We won't be too hopeful of docking there next month then!

Plenty of us about who do not like the new huge mega ships.

There are horse and cart rides from near the ship, but quite expensive so haggle hard if you want one. As the city is very hilly, you can also get a lift/elevator from near the port to the upper gardens and walk around the city by yourselves. Its a fairly small island so easy to get to where you want to visit. Buses quite cheap but the drivers all think their are racing drivers...

I find this happens a lot on various cruise lines when you have a drinks package. You have bought a drinks package so they do not rush to give you a refill as you have already pre paid. You have been given a "free" drinks package so they do not rush to give you a refill as you have not paid.....

Let me know how to do it and I will change mine.....
