  1. Sailing on Symphony in January: couple of questions: Is it always exactly 90 days out before you can book shows? AND, how do you book Solarium Bistro for dinner? It's in my cruise planner but it didn't ask me which evening I would like and may I link all 6 of my family members so we can eat the same night? thanks everyone.

  2. Not all chairs and umbrellas are free, and it has been that way for a while. The chairs and umbrellas in the front rows are fee-based, run by locals. But the other chairs and umbrellas are free.

Actually now it is more clear cut to passengers which are free - if you know how it works. Chairs with green umbrellas are free. In fact, when we were there last week, the security guard told everyone coming through the Dufry store that the chairs with green umbrellas are free. We've been several times before so we already knew that, but it was good info for new visitors.

If you look at the pic you can tell the difference. If you want free, go to green.

Good info.No one told us that. Thank you!!

  3. Wow. Was this recent? I knew about the beach chair scam but this is the first I have seen concerning the "security guard." That is scary.

Yes, Carnival needs to do something. I'd hate to just have to skip this port and stay on the ship but we have kids and our elderly parents to think of and I wont have them pushed around by local thugs looking to scam us. I wrote the head of HAL , the Carnival line we cruise, and Carnival a snail mail letter asking them to look into the pushy beach chair scammers. Might be good for me and other folks to send off some emails about this new development as well. They don't know unless we tell them.

We are there today. Our friend went to beach while we toured. Once he got settled in a chair and umbrella, a man came by and told him to give him $25 for the beach chair or leave. Another man nearby ( cruise ship guest) told my friend to tell the man to “ leave me alone” and wave him off. It worked but I think we all need to make cruise line aware of this practice especially since they announce before docking that chairs and umbrellas are free

  4. This will be our third time to grand turks and we have always rent a golf cart from Karib and have not had any problems. We book ahead. Our cruise is in November and already been in touch with them and responded quicky, but i just read a few bad reviews lately. I wanted to see if anyone has used them lately they have another gold rental place called max rental. If any one used any latley please provide an update on conditions of the carts. Thank you.

In grand Turk today. People were on the pier holding signs for golf cart rental and the sign said “ price negotiable” I suppose it could be because we arrived about 45 minutes late today. Not sure. Oh and we were the only ship in port ( carnival magic)

  5. I’ll answer my own question as we were in Grand Turk today. [emoji3]The shuttle is up and running. It is very nice with a 2 hour tour and 4 stops. The guide was great and we loved it. Cost is $34.95 and you go into the pier area and there are kiosks for tours. Sign up there and YES you use your ship card to pay. [emoji106]

  6. I am currently sailing. FYI to future cruisers: I purchased the wi-fi for the week but it was ridiculous slow so I “ upgraded” for $39 for the “ premium “ wi-fi. There is absolutely no difference. But I’m enjoying the cruise as usual. [emoji41][emoji485]

  7. There is shopping at the pier in Coxen Hole. Same/similar stores as up in Mahogany Bay, IIRC. Plus in CH the private excursion vendors, like Rony and Victor Bodden have little kiosks there where you can book excursions that day and catch their vans; unlike at MBCC where you have to go outside the port complex to reach them and need advanced reservations so they can find you.

Good to know! Last time we visited Coxen Hole there wasn’t much there. Thank you!!

  8. If I understand correctly, Symphony of the Seas belongs to Royal Carribean which means it will be docking in Coxen Hole.

Mahogany Bay is a cruise port complex built and owned by Carnival.

Edit ~ Holy Hannah, is that the new huge ship? Oops, answered my own question: "As of 9 June 2017, she is the largest passenger.... " Now I wonder if it can get into Coxen Hole or if maybe tender is the answer.

Yes I did a little more research and mahogany bay belongs to the carnival corporation so only their ships may dock there. :(

  9. We are not cruising until January 2019, but does anyone know where Symphony will be docking? And is it near Mahogany Bay? Our cruise itinerary just says Roatan. Would like to start making plans for our day in port, but not sure where we will be exactly. Thanks everyone.

  10. We are diamond plus and want to use the internet for the entire week. Purchase before boarding for 30% off or purchase on board after using our 24 hours free each? OR can you apply your free internet toward the package once on board? Confused about best value! Thanks everyone for all your good advice and MERRY CHRISTMAS [emoji319]to all.
