  1. Unfortunately, the “Must be firsts” remain on board. They often resurface leaving the theater for excursions, leaving the bus to return on board, in La Veranda, refusing to wait in line at Destination Services and on it goes. It was very noticeable on our recent Splendor cruise. Patience people! You’re on vacation! Relax just a little. And, believe it or not, you’re not the most important… Oh heck, they’re not going to read this anyway.
  2. Wonder if those shoes would be included in the Regent laundry offering these days!
  3. We stayed at the Sheraton Royal Orchid hotel. Best meal was at the Salathip restaurant in the Shangri La hotel, not far away and also on the river. Entertainment table side was included. This was a number of years ago, but just superb.
  4. Just to add, I also wore my sport coat, without tie, for each of our seven dinners in the specialty restaurants. I would estimate more than half the men were wearing sport coats in the specialty restaurants, mostly without ties. It did make these dinners feel a bit more special. This has nothing to do with the food quality which was often as good or better in the Compass Rose.
  5. Just off Splendor 19 night cruise (not b2b). Two formal optional nights. Vast majority of men wore sport coats, some wore suits, very few wore tuxes. Estimate far less than half of the men wore ties. All in all the men looked pretty good. The women, of course, looked great.
  6. Onboard Splendor now. If Starlink is up, and I believe it is, it is not a panacea. Sometimes WiFi works well, sometimes not at all.
  7. I have never felt any need to tip on Regent. I find that verbally expressing my appreciation for the excellent service we receive always brings a sincere smile to the face of the staff member and an equally sincere “my pleasure “. I try to go out of my way to compliment staff for what is, almost always, outstanding service.
  8. On board Splendor for 19 night cruise. Booked our first three specialty reservations before boarding. Have rebooked each restaurant on board. Also had an additional night (7 total) when Compass Rose asked us if we wanted to eat in Chartreuse on a busy night. Key is being willing to share a table, which we are. Could have had more, if we wanted. Food in CR has been uniformly good. Sette Mari available without reservation every night
  9. In part due to this thread, on our current Splendor cruise, I am trying to be extra appreciative of the excellent service we are receiving. It’s simple to say “thank you very much” and “I appreciate that “ versus just continuing on. The response we receive from the staff is always an extra smile and a “My pleasure “.
  10. Natalie Costa from Australia. Seems fine so far.
  11. Hotel Bristol. We would highly recommend it. It is an historic old hotel with beautiful wood paneled public areas and updated hallways and rooms. The rooms are not spacious but certainly sufficient. They are the quietest rooms we have ever stayed in. We never once heard a door close, noise in the hall outside, housekeeping, etc. They include a huge breakfast buffet every morning. Staff is very helpful and location is good.
  12. The entertainment on Navigator in November was the best we had ever seen on Regent, by a lot. Better even than our two Explorer cruises. It seems Regent has really upped their game wrt entertainment. We’ll see how it is on Splendor for the next 19 nights.
  13. Just got on, and I can see what you mean. Fair walk gangplank to tent and a fairly small tent. Oslo has been soggy yesterday and today. We dodged most of the rain today but yesterday was consistent rain. Enjoy the city anyway, it’s quite nice.
  14. Embarking Tuesday on our 12th Regent cruise, this one to Norway and Uk mostly. 19 nights so 2 formal optional evenings. I have long sleeve button down shirts for most nights with nice slacks. One sport coat that I usually wear to the specialty restaurants. A couple of ties to add for the formal optional nights. My wife will wear slacks and nice tops most nights with some pretty jackets for specialty restaurants and formal optional nights. Years ago I was wearing tuxes, but not for a least a decade. I would probably bring the same for Alaska.
  15. You can also drop by the specialty restaurants early in the evening and just ask if they might have an opening for you. Often they will be able to fit you in.
  16. Just realize that you may find, once you are on board, that the excursion times are different than what you had before boarding. This may prevent a second tour in a given port or it may open the opportunity that was previously unavailable. Check carefully all excursion times once on board. They do change.
  17. Thanks for everyone's help. The answer was.... there was no answer. Tried it late this afternoon and everything worked great. The technical term for what happened was...Gremlins!
  18. Cleared all cookies and history. Rebooted. Still can not access Manage This Booking.
  19. I can’t load the Manage My Booking page on RSSC.Com using Chrome or Edge on my pc. It loads on my iPad. I have tried for a couple of hours. Anybody else having this issue?
  20. Many times people will cancel their reservations, often at the last minute, or even just not show up. Let the maitre’d know where you will be and to call you if something opens up earlier. Go have a drink and chances are you will get called early.
  21. Go to rssc.com, find a cruise. Find your cruise and go to Itinerary and Excursions. Under that header it will say Click here to receive a list… You will be emailed a complete list including prices. If that is missing, you can still find what you want by going to each port and clicking Download all.
  22. Keep checking, sometimes the excursions list is posted well in advance of when booking opens.
  23. You were indeed fortunate to have had such a gorgeous day in Bergen. Bergen is well known for its wet weather, much like Seattle, having well over 200 rainy days each year. Our one visit to Bergen was very wet, The tram immediately entered the cloud bank that day, so was not worth doing. We did still enjoy walking around and the wharf area as you describe.
