  1. I am looking for transportation from Cape Liberty Cruise Port Terminal to Worcester, MA on May 1st after the Summit Repo Cruise. We use to go on the Academy Bus that Royal Caribbean contracted with but they are no longer offering that. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Tina

Taxi to Newark Penn Station and Amtrak is probably your best bet.

  2. Which is the better Amtrak station to go from Cape Liberty to Philadelphia?

Newark Airport Station or the Downtown Newark/New Jersey station?

Does anyone know if RCI still offers a bus shuttle from the port to Philadelphia?

Do not get off at the airport. There is no ground transportation available from there, just the monorail to the terminals.

  3. Yup I agree.he is being stubborn. He wants to leave at 6am. Only good thing is we are familiar with driving to NJ. Still time to change his mind.thanks 138east!!

Carol (138 east) is right. You are looking at 6+ hours driving time under perfect conditions all the way. If it is a weekday, you can forget that. I think you need to tell your husband to reconsider. You are gambling with your cruise to save one night in a hotel here in New Jersey.

  4. IMO, the issue isn't one of clarity, as the dress code is quite clear. The problem lies with those who choose to ignore the dress code, or don't bother to read it, compounded by Celebrity's failure to enforce it's own rules.

My fault. I should have added to my post: Please Celebrity, now enforce this.

  5. Note to Celebrity: Please clarify the dress code. Just say smart casual and above with nice jeans OK (no T-shirts or shorts please) for all restaurants at dinner and be done with it. If someone wants to wear a tux at dinner so be it. If someone wants to wear a sport shirt and nice jeans so be it. Any other descriptions such as "evening chic" will forever bring on these discussions.

  6. Then someone messed up and you should keep quiet.

Here are the terms and conditions.

    One-Category Upgrade

One-category upgrade requests must be made at the time of booking and apply only for upgrades within the supercategory, depending on availability. Example of a supercategory upgrade in AquaClass: A2 to A1. Captain's Club one category upgrade excludes category 12, FV, SV, C1 and guarantee categories, Z, Y, X, XC, XA, W. This offer cannot be used with certain restricted fares including but not limited to travel agent and employee rates. Upgrades apply for one stateroom per cruise. Stateroom assignments only. Not valid on holiday sailings. Upgrades available from categories 11- A1 on all Celebrity ships except Celebrity Xpedition®. Offer valid for members who are Classic Level or higher at the time of booking.

I guess you right. Maybe the rules have changed. I booked this cruise over a year ago.

  7. We have opted for the Champagne Brunch Buffet at the Chart House restaurant in Weehawken, N.J. It's on the banks of the Hudson overlooking Manhattan's west side.

We have a table booked for 11.15, so hopefully we will have cleared customs and immigration in time to make that reservation. How long do those formalities usually take at Bayonne?

Our friends from Jersey are joining us and will keep our luggage in their cars and drop us off at EWR in time for our flight at 17.35.

This is the Summit's return to Bayonne after wintering in San Juan. Clearance and debark may take a little longer but everyone should be off by 9 and through customs by 10. The Chart House is no more than half an hour away from the port on a Sunday morning.

  8. I am on the Reflection in May. I keep reading posts about the unlimited dining package however I don't see this option offered when viewing the dining packages. Is this not an option any longer?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

One thing you might want to consider is to book a three or five night package beforehand. You can then change it to ultimate dining when you board. They will credit the amount.

  9. I have heard rumors of a cut-off to the parking garage or open air lot off the main entry to the port that would save considerable time when port is in heavy traffic.

Is this actually exists, could someone be so kind to post explicit directions upon how to get to it, and confirm I won't be driving any one way streets the wrong way! I am fortunate in that I can carry my suitcases from the parking, so would like to avoid as much of the drop-off traffic mess if it is possible to do so.

    Thank you in advance.

I have been there countless times, and there is no "secret" cut-off, at least none that would not take you through the exit lane going the wrong way.

  10. We are doing a 10 day cruise on Equinox in February and are booked in Aqua. Any opinion on UDP in addition to having Blu? Since we have four sea days I was thinking the UDP might have greater value. Porch for lunch and breakfast at Blu. I read that previously linked post and it is what got me thinking seriously about it, rather than a 3 or 5 dinner package.

Edit - Just remembered no Porch on Equinox and wondering if they have a lunch option with UDP on that ship.

I would never do it. I couldn't see spending the extra money for Aqua if I wasn't going to eat in Blu. It is pretty much the only reason to book Aqua except for Persian Gardens.

  11. Lots of cigarette smoke in the Gem casino. It is bad, in my opinion. But, the Breakaway is worse.

ETA: Thank you for letting me know that Celebrity has no smoking in the casino! Is the whole ship non-smoking indoors? Sounds like that might be my next cruise!

No smoking inside anywhere. Smoking is limited to a few port side areas.

  12. I am looking for some opinions from NCL cruisers about the smoking environment in the NCL Gem casino. DW and I have sailed Celebrity almost exclusively for years now. As you may know, smoking is prohibited in their casinos. We very recently cruised on the RCCL Anthem of the Seas. Their smoking policy in the casino is much like NCL. I found the casino to be unusable because of this. We do not spend endless hours in the casino but we may spend as much as an hour or two each day in there. We have a weeklong cruise scheduled for later this year on the Gem, and I would consider the inability to use the casino a big factor in deciding whether or not to go. I would appreciate any input. Thank you all in advance.

  13. Should I be worried? Arriving Cape Liberty aboard Celebrity Summit on Sunday, September 18. Have reservations on Virgin America out of EWR departing at 12:30 p.m. Was planning on a car service pickup at 9:30 and heading to the airport. This is only our second cruise on Celebrity and we are in an aqua cabin. Is 9:30 realistic if we walk off?

No, you should not worry at all. You should not even have to take walk-off if you plan on a 9:30 car service pick-up.

  14. Thanks for the update. I wish I understood it better in terms of its effect on getting to Cape Liberty!

BayonneJoe- can you interpret this in terms of getting to CL on March 4?

Hi Carol. I am preparing my latest take on what's going on at 14A. I want to post something that will be easily understood by anyone using the exit. I didn't post anything for today's Anthem sailing because there are virtually no problems at the exit on weekends. I will post something in the next day or so for our sailing and any going forward (as the construction stands now). Things change almost daily now, if not by the hour.

  15. Yes, We have purchased for ten nights and thought it would be similar to RCCL Freedom of the Seas (this past Jan.) where we purchased a five night package and were able to have our choice of specialty dining. For example, we were allowed to eat mostly in "Chops". It sounds like there is less flexibility on Eclipse which is not what we are looking for. I'm concerned about waiting to upgrade once onboard because... I thought we would be unable to cancel/change the package a few days before boarding, if they will not upgrade us to Ultimate we would be unhappy campers! I thank you for your detailed response, I'm now thinking... to remove one of the five night packages pp would be the prudent move

Then that, or removing all your packages are your only options and then hoping to get ultimate as soon as you board. My recommendation would be to do this at the first possible opportunity when boarding. Sometimes they have a desk set up right at the check-in area. If you have OBC this is a far better way to do it anyway. Good luck. And you cannot cancel less than four days before your sailing.

  16. We have already purchased two five night dining packages for a fourteen night sailing on Eclipse. We love the specialty restaurants, especially Murano. I did believe we would be able to eat there often but it sounds like they limit you to once per package. Has anyone used the five night dining package on Eclipse recently and were there rules? We still have time to cancel the pre cruise five night package if the ultimate dining package is more flexible and includes lunch. I was unaware of the ultimate dining package for $29. It sounds like that may be a better option for us. Thanks!;)

If you are saying that you purchased two packages (10 nights) for each of you at a total cost of $636, ultimate dining for 14 nights for two would cost $812, a difference of only $176. A no brainer. If you mean you only purchased a single five night package for each of you, that would be a much bigger investment. You get four extra dinners, plus Bistro on 5 for lunch every day if you want. I happen to believe that Bistro is the most underrated dining venue on any Celebrity ship. We get ultimate dining any time we are not in aqua. We were on Eclipse in January for five nights, and they did not offer any packages for a short cruise. Turns out it is not available for sailings less than six days. Also, with ultimate dining, you choose how many times you eat in any of the restaurants, not being locked into (as on the Eclipse) one at Murano and two each at Qsine and Tuscan Grille. And by the way, there is no reason to cancel your package and rebook ultimate onboard. You can go to any of the kiosks and upgrade as soon as you get on. One caveat. You cannot book ultimate dining before sailing. They always tell you there are a limited number of Ultimate packages. I have never had a problem, but always better to establish that it will be available on your sailing.

  17. I found this very confusing but when you book it the 29 includes graits but I did tip 5 extra per dinner and my porch server I took care of at end of week. I also found out it is better to tip in cash cause if you ask to put it on slip to add to bill it has to be distributed to all staff of all specialty. also if you upgrade your drink pkg do so with the bar and bartender you will use most often cause that goes to the person that sells it and they will take care of you and remember you

I probably should have expanded a little. I just wanted to answer the OP's question that no other charge is involved. For myself, I believe it to be proper to leave extra at the specialty restaurants but this is a personal choice.

  18. I'm dreading the ride home. Joe - what do you think it would be like to try to sneak into the Holland Tunnel via Marin Blvd in Jersey City? Or should I just suck it up and deal with the GW Bridge traffic? I did the Holland Tunnel about a year ago on a Monday from the Courtyard in Jersey City and it was easy, but that was at 7 am. Going up the west side was also easy. I'm not sure I will be able to get off so early from the cruise.

The first thing you have to remember is WINS or WCBS is your best friend on Monday morning. You will have to keep your options open and hope for the best. And yes, the Tappan Zee is also an option. I have done it that way once to New England. That route you are going in the opposite direction of the flow of traffic the whole way. It's just that it is somewhat of a ride to get there. Garden State Parkway to the Thruway from Bayonne is a bit of a hike.
