  1. When you purchase third party insurance, do you include the cost of your excursions? Or just the cost of the cruise itself?

I include prepaid excursions, airfare, & hotel costs.

I went to the 3rd party site for myself (we leave in May) and was looking into the trip interruption for my friend. Sounds like a good deal but a few mentioned that it needed to be purchased around the time the cruise is booked. I'm just looking for overall coverage and booked back in Jan....so not sure we could do that for us.

Everg policy is different. ..15 - 30 days within initial deposit. If you buy it outside of that window for your particular policy, pre existing medical issues aren't covered.

You can always call & ask. Most plans give you 10 - 15 days to review & cancel the policy with no penalty.

  2. Not sure how I will be able to work this week, with my cruise starting on Saturday. I'm already in vacation mode. Can't wait to sail on the Miracle. Our first time on the Miracle, but we've been on the Spirit and the Pride before. We love Spirit class ships.

It's always hard for me to concentrate on work the week leading up to my cruise. I think that's normal. :)

  3. Has anyone been to the Hasboro Game Show on Carnival Ships? Do they choose whole families from the audience or just individuals on teams? What kind of prizes do they give away?

Random people are chosen for teams. Right (when facing the stage) is normally red team & the left side of the theater is the blue team.

You either play Connect Four, Simon Says, Yahtzee, or Operation (those are the only ones I've seen). If your team loses, you get mini versions of the game you just played...though on the Sunshine one team received a card game.

If your team wins, you move on to the finals. If you don't have the highest amount, you receive a card game and $20 giftcard for Hasboro. If you win, you get mini versions & boardgames of all games.

On Breeze you carried them off, on Sunshine they mail to you.

  4. Also, I assume they still do Scavenger Hunts either at Camp Carnival or scheduled in the Fun Times?

Yes to both. Off the Sunshime on 2/23/14 & both occurred. I only know about it happening at CC because some kids entered the Bloggers event to take a group hug photo.

  5. How early do you need to check in for your cruise? I have the option to do it now, but I'm not cruising until April. Are there benefits to checking in so early???

I print maybe a month out & check in as soon as I make final payment. I wouldn't wait long to do it.

My February cruise; I logged in 5 days before the trip & my booking showed I still owed & couldn't print my boarding pass. Luckily my pass was already printed, but I was looking at my rate to compare it to a new rate I found. It was straightened out, but what if I hadn't noticed that & what if I hadn't printed yet?

  6. Those are the rooms we are looking at for our December trip on the Sunshine. I'm calling my PVP tomorrow to book and I'd love to hear a little more about your location. Can you answer some quick questions for me?

    1. How was the noise level? The open deck above and the big screen outside

    the room concern me.

    2. Was the ships movement noticeable? We've been in spa rooms on the Dream a couple times and it wasn't too bad but still a lot of movement. We've been in a porthole room on the Elation and will never do the front of a small

    boat again.

    3. I saw youtube video of an inside room with the beds together as a king

and there was NO room to move around, is it really that bad?

    4. Tell me about the Cloud 9 spa saunas/steam rooms, please.

    Thanks!

    I'm sorry Waynbo...I couldn't find this thread again and..well...I couldn't find it.

    1. It wasn't bad to me, but when I'm sleepy, I go to sleep. The noise level was really noticeable when the doors leading to the deck were open.

    2. It was noticeable a smidgen. I felt some movement maybe 2 days...and that wasn't consecutive days.

    3. That person may have had a cabin on a different deck. I had the king setup and could walk on both sides of my bed with no problems. My room was big...not suite big, but large enough for me.

    4. Unfortunately, I can not; I never used them.

  7. Is there anything notably different in the Spa Inside cabins other than the decor & robes/slippers? There was a refridgerator in the cabin, right?

We are booked in 12008 on the Repo Cruise April 6th.

    Thanks!!

Nothing special, other than my fridge & elemis products & I liked the slippers

  8. I just booked 10128 and would love to hear more about it. PLEASE?

    Thanks!

I'm currently working on my review. I think you'll like the room. It's spacious (to me). You're around the corner from the doors leading out to the deck.

It can get loud at night and even during the day...especially if someone doesn't completely shut the door, but it didn't bother me because it wasn't enough to make me miserable & I can sleep through just about anything. :)

  9. Did you 'check out' ? I know that if you book excursions online, or order strawberries or something from Bon Voyage, then you have to pay for them now. Pre booked spa treatments may be the same way.

Pre booked spa treatments are in deed the same way.

Also be careful; you have to sign a receipt after receiving the service & are sometimes charged again!

  10. I have a question on items you buy on-line and have deliver to the room as a gift. I was wanting to buy my son a hoodie as a surprise when we board. But wondering if they charge sales tax on these items or would it just be better to buy the item on the ship and surprise him on a different day?

Thank you for your time and help in this matter.

I rarely go in the gift shop, but to my knowledge, all items aren't for sale onboard, so if you see it now, buy it.

As for sales tax, I'm sure it's charged, but you'll know for sure if you do a mock purchase. ...I THINK. :)

  11. We know someone who got the "free offer" but they currently have an ill family member. They want to book (and can really enjoy the financial freedom from paying full price for a much needed cruise) but can they get the Vacation Protection for it "IF" they need to head home early from the cruise, even though they only paid the taxes and fees.

I thought it was a good question and wondered if anyone did this for their free cruise? What if they need to cancel the free cruise prior to sail date and have PPV...can they re-book another free cruise in the future?

Just thought I would throw it out there. Thanks!!

I have no clue. I would think no, since they didn't pay for it; just taxes & grats.

Maybe they should get insurance in the event they have to disembark sponer than scheduled.

  12. Please don't kill me for asking this. :) I did search the forums first, but the only answers I could find were very old (in the archives) so I am assuming very outdated.

I am in an ocean-view room on Deck 2 on the Valor - will my room have a hairdryer, or will I need to request one every day? I just REALLY don't want to pack one if I don't need it! And yes, I'm aware that the hairdryers are crappy. But my hair is so thin & fine that a stiff breeze could dry it in 30 seconds flat, so I'm not too concerned with that.

The driers are no longer in the bathroom; you'll find them in the top drawer in your cabin. On Valor (I was deck 7, 4J cabin), it was above the fridge, but below the tv. On Sunshine it was the top left drawer of the large desk.

Just search all top drawers in your cabin.

  13. Yeah that kinda doesn't make any sense the way it sounds. geesh.

Leo are you going to do a review? Only asking because you give verrrrry detailed reviews, and I would love to get your in depth take on the Sunshine. What cabin did you stay in?

Forgot to state I stayed in a spa interior cabin. 10128

  15. Can you elaborate on the problems with going from one side of the ship to the other? Is this mainly on specific decks? We're booked in the front (interior with walkway views) and will be traveling with a three year old, so getting from one place to another is something I have thought about quite a bit.. Thank you!

Deck 3 is the main one that sticks out...just disembarked today. You can't go all the way aft. You can get to it from deck 4, bit have to cut through Limelight Lounge & sometimes that's not always possible. You'll need to gain access from deck 5.

  16. Planning to book a spa cabin on our next cruise. Do the "plush" robes come in different sizes? Hubby is a larger guy and the regular size robes we have had in other cabins don't fit him. We didn't ask at the time because he didn't use it anyway but he might want to use the nicer robe in the spa cabin.

I never used my robes, but they are already hanging up, so I really don't know if they come in a bigger size. You can always ask your room steward or or perhaps someone at the spa desk.

  17. I usually pay around $429 to $479 per person for an inside cabin on deck 6 midship. Last Halloween, I was booked on that cruise and then it came out as a Premier Casino Cruise and the rate dropped to $369. I was booked Early Saver so I got a nice OBC.

We rarely pay more than $70/day for any cruise.

We're leaving on the Sunshine out of NOLA tomorrow and we're booked at $449 with a $80 OBC from price drops.

I'm headed to NOLA now. On the plane as I type. I can't wait for BC7!!!!

I'm starting out with $160 OBC. Woo Hoo!!
