  1. I'm so glad NCL is finally sticking to people like you - How more heavy-handed a hint can they give that they don't want cheapskate complainers that are really not having genuine service issues sailing their line anymore? I can understand if the person was having a genuine service issue like toilet not working for the whole week, a room steward not doing their job at all even with 'Clean room' sign out at all hours, mold in the cabin etc, but to reduce DSC because you don't want to pay for it at all while still getting service in the buffet and from the room steward plus the behind the scene staff? Yeah, you can suffer 2-8 weeks without it - hope it makes you think twice about sailing on NCL, ever.:cool: Let's be honest - it takes them about 4-6 weeks to give back refundable OBC that one brought for themselves, you think you're getting it back in 2? DREAM ON!!

I don't eat in the buffet.

  2. Good luck with that - You better make sure there's a actual smoker on the balcony leaving that tell-tell smell for hours or else you're going to lose. And Guest Services will make a note of it when you do complain about it.

Won't need luck! Just need to be a squeaky wheel enough. Or maybe not. Don't need to win only show my concerns weren't met with satisfaction. Rather easy to accomplish. But thanks for the concern.

    And of course this too:

The form states that removal is at guest discretion. You don't need to establish a record of complaints or of offering management a chance to do anything for you.
  3. You are right, I missed that thread. I was never a big fan of removing/reducing the service charge to get back at the company since it doesn't really impact them and I'm glad NCL is doing this.

    Hmmm...

At this point its the principal of the idea, and all the other changes since I booked.

I'm not getting back at NCL, I'm getting back my money that may be superflous to NCL since they don't make it mandatory.

  4. And if there is no record of you complaining onboard and giving onboard management a chance to rectify the situation? I can see them denying it under those circumstances.

Did the new system, as reported by the OP, suggest they can deny it?

Maybe he or NCL  could confirm that this is just to make it more of a hassle. Hoping most won't go to the effort. Kind of like rebates by mail.

Delay is not deny. No real change except when and how you get your money.

  5. Not just that -Its not itemized on a credit card, so one has to example the other charges are well. Plus have to fax / scan the NCL receipt, if one still has it, further screwing oneself over because if you sail on NCL again and same situation with DSC happen again - there's a possibility that the credit card company is going to decline all future refunds because now there's a establish pattern. Then there's the problem with NCL for getting the DSC refund from the Credit Card Company - who knows what they will do if a person who did that the 1st time tries sailing on them again.

Its a perfect catch-22 with dealing with DSC-removers - That's means they have to start complaining with Guest Services to make their explanation on the form more credible to get their refund back 2 weeks later. It's wickedly brilliant, if I do dare say so myself. :) Really, need to give whoever came up with that a raise or reward because they deserve it!!

    I think you're wrong.

Will make removing them easier, no dancing with people just a well thought out written statement saying service was unacceptable.

  6. The greatest irony in all of this? If pokerpro5 just enjoyed his trip right now instead of posting from the ship complaining - He wouldn't haven't given out the info for other cruise lines to setup their own means to stop/slow down their own DSC-Removers. One of the few times, where keeping your mouth / not posting to the internet actually helps others, because now the other cruise lines are going to copy NCL's example. Such sweet, sweet karma no matter what. :p:)

Stop and slow down are two different things.

Other cruise lines have not seemed so keen on adopting NCL's stupidity.

Will remove the DCS from now on on any cruise line.

  7. Paradise is what it is, an older ship with no bells and whistles. We enjoyed our trip a few years ago when the kids were smaller.

After more modern ships, other lines, including the Breeze, with all the bells and whistles, I think my kids would be bored, and DW and I would likely not enjoy ourselves as much too.

For a quick getaway maybe, but not for a family vacation.

  8. Well all this debate is very interesting but this new system, while slightly more complex, allows them to be removed without having to explain to someone face to face why they are being removed. This may make people feel more free to do so.

I wasn't intending to remove them only reduce them to what they were when I booked. But now I might just do so to see if they really take two weeks.

  9. I figured eventually, some parent was going to come on here and say something lol. Let's be honest kids have the run of the damn ship, more adult only areas sounds like a great idea

Family friendly? Go read other threads there's other people accusing Norwegian of becoming less family friendly. I've said before I believe Norwegian is starting to target the 18 to 35 year old demographic. Think about it for the first time ever the Norwegian skies alcohol is now 100% free

    Wrong again.

  10. I think compassion is variable depending on the situation. Even if a child is less than perfect during a normal meal, that's one thing. In the case of the Illusionarium show, I'd be less compassionate as the show will require close attention to get the gist of it, and that's what we paid to see. During the show, if a young child starts to get squirmy and vocal, that's distracting.

How exactly would you be less compassionate?

  11. Not knowing the age of the "child/toddler" that the OP mentions, I am not understanding why someone would want to bring a toddler to the show in the first place. The adult won't be able to enjoy the show if the child acts up. Other guests would be inconvenienced by the potential outbursts, etc.

Disclaimer: I am not a parent and I don't tolerate children that are misbehaving in public venues (or not properly supervised by their parent/guardian).

Just wondering how you don't tolerate children that are misbehavin g in public?
