  1. We booked in July. One room with adults (UBP for the 2 adults). One room with kids (UDP for the 2 kids). As stated above, the promo listed on the kids' reservation is Child's Dining Pkg. in looking at the menus for specialty restaurants on a Getaway in November, I don't see why distinction between child's price and adult's price. Please tell me my kids won't have to order off a kids menu in the specialty restaurants.....

    They will not.

No child has ever " had " to order off a child's menu, they have not had a specialty child's menu in a long time.

A generic ship wide kids menu is available or used to be.

There is no price difference now, or not suppose to be. Kids use to be 1/2 price but NCL did away with kid's pricing.

  2. First thanks for the excellent review, looking forward to more,

    but

I must say the crowded pool pictures, buffet shot, lines for water slide and rock wall and even some of the food porn... some of the food does not look that great. Is that Beef Wellington? Slathered in all that Gravy?

does not make the ship look enticing...sorry but they don't

  3. Never sailed the Dream but have sailed the Breeze.

Sailed in a family suite on Dawn

    There is no contest.

I would choose the Dream. MDR food on CCL is better than NCL and the ship is not over crowded.

The Dawn is old and at times feels it.

Way more to do on the Dream for both kids and adults. Way more.

Now the Breeze did correct some of Dream's deficencies.

The suite made the Dawn a good cruise. And if you choose to sail in a suite then I might choose the Dawn, but only if.

  4. Yep, CCL did no one a favor with that. All the family suites and the family cove balconies are under the galley.

Some of the family deluxe OV are not under the galley but the MDR, which would be much better.

Not everyone who had a cove under the galley on the Dream class complained of noise, but many did. All night noise in some cases.

Family section should have been higher and closer to the kids club.

Vista in some ways is not as family/kid friendly a design. No quads in the Spa, and the Cabana exclusion.

Great for the kid haters though.. ;)

  5. Both the steak and lobster were steakhouse cuts and were prepared perfectly. They were worth the $20 if you want good lobster and an excellent steak.

We had reservations at the steakhouse but for some reason had to cancel, so we splurged in the MDR instead.

    Worth it to us.

That said you can't get the spice rub that they have at the steakhouse so that was a bit of a letdown, but the steak was so good it really didn't need it.

  6. Can you please explain the difference to me? Unfortunately, I probably can't do it due to muscle damage in my leg from an injury. But, I like to know about things for my 15 year old nephew.

Rappelling is going down from the top, using a rope system to slow your descent.

As opposed to climbing up a wall with a rope to keep you from falling.

  7. I didn't cruise in the 70's & 80's because everything about it was unappealing.

I cringe at the notion of being assigned 6 other people to eat with.....all week.

In the 70's & 80's we traveled the world using our time-share instead.

Now that cruising is more palatable, we do this most of the time.

    Stephen

    .

Well it was more open to new ideas and meeting new people. Certainly that's not today's world cruising or otherwise.

  8. In which direction?

    a) You traveled in reverse?

    b) you slept on the outside of the ship, and admired the water from the inside?

    c) the hull was on top, and the sundeck underwater?

    d) the propulsion was manual, not mechanical?

    e) you served the crew at mealtimes?

Did I miss something? I'm not sure I would have enjoyed that 180 degree difference from today's cruise product.

    Stephen

    .

Apart from your sillyness and trying to be clever, if you didn't cruise in the 70's and 80's then you definatly missed something.

  9. Pretty sure I will survive as well, but thanks for your concern. Now whether or not you will survive your affliction of taking yourself way too seriously? I'm not so sure...

By the way, the giant smiley face indicates that one is having fun with the situation. I can understand how that might confuse you.

On the Breeze you are at best a medium pizza

    :)

At being the thread police a single slice with no drink. :D

  10. Thanks and glad you enjoyed the BREEZE pics. Here is the review that went with them.

I'll be honest the BREEZE was a mixed bag. Some great things but also a decline in some Carnival staples like entertainment, food quality, and service. The cutbacks were very evident. I also felt BREEZE was very crowded and the public areas quite warm. I've cruised on Carnival since (FREEDOM) and it was a big improvement over the BREEZE so perhaps Carnival revisited some of their cutbacks and made improvements.

I hope you have a great time on BREEZE and hopefully many of the issues I had won't be for you.

    We had the opposite.

The Breeze never felt crowded, we though most of the MDR food was very good and were mildly surprised by the American Table menu's. Tandoor was excellent, enjoyed the Italian place, kids loved the new Camp Ocean themed kids club. Even the Chef's Table rocked!

Entertainment on CCL is not so great but what we did we enjoyed.

It was our best overall family cruise ever.

Escape has a high hurdle to overcome and already being one day less it is already in arrears.

  11. What have they done to the casino?

What has changed with the CAS product? We have 14 days in an AFT PH suite in South America for $2200 total... and I'm VIP so super-premium drinks included....

This whole thread feels like mountains, which in reality turn out to be molehills.

    .

Unfortunately NCL changed the CAS program, along with many other changes.

Those changes are neither mountains or molehills, they are simply changes since many people booked.
