  1. THE POINT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE WAS.... It did not seem that anyone was going...just mostly people that were comped. I know about how high food prices are where we live but, I do not think that most cruisers will pay that much . Like I said, not even a half dozen tables. Before, it would have been very hard to even get a reservation !
  2. Just off the Crown Ate twice in Prime steakhouse & once in Sabatini's. 6:30pm Both charge $39. with a few upcharges more for certain items. The one most shocking to me was an additional $10. for Alaskan Salmon while we were in Alaska ! There were never more than half a dozen tables with people in either restaurant AND we were there because the casino paid ! Wonder if a few of the others were there on the casino. Main dining room very good. Not that the other restaurants weren't but I think the charge has more than hit its max....
  3. season has been cancelled for 2 years.....
  4. Not exactly sure what you mean... but, I do not think any of that ,matters, just a confirmed paid for booking.
  5. You be more than fine. By Alaska gear, I mean sweatshirts & Jeans :O)
  6. FINAL THOUGHTS... I would say the cruise for us was a success. All crew extremely nice & helpful. Casino was good. My husband & I each got a hand pay ! His on the Wheel of Fortune. Mine on a strange looking Chinese machine with a $2.50 bet. Not to happy with Sabatini's, especially breakfast. But the main dining room was consistently good. Skywalker's on deck 18 was used for the Elite/Suite lounge. Snacks & service was great but the room was VERY cold. Buffet has great bread pudding everyday at lunch. Pizza at Slice was very good. Not thrilled with the Salty Dog grill. We bring Saran & baggies to keep treats from the buffet & International cafe fresh for midnight snacks :O) TV & Internet reception was great the whole time. You may have heard that the Alaska King crab season had been cancelled this year & last. SO, no crab on the ship. Not even in the pay restaurants. One of the people we met onboard said they went to a restaurant in one of the ports. They ordered crab for $65. each. AND, it was not good. He said it tasted like it had been frozen, certainly not fresh.
  7. VERY few tux's. Also, there were jackets & ties & just jackets. Some ladies were very formal. Then there were those still in there Alaska gear :O)
  8. 2 I would say about half of the ship was formal
  9. We were….just got off the ship….in cabin R408. The bed was the best ever. Must have been a new mattress. And the linen were soft. BUT…was sad to her from the lady in the cabin next th us. She said her bed was horrible. The second day of the cruise, the crew brought up some kind of boards for more support.
  10. You will not be bored…. jigsaw puzzles, chess, checkers, trivial pursuit, backgammon, scattagories, rummikube, monopoly, Jenga, scrabble, Pictionary
  11. At Coffee & Cones, they make those fancy sundaes. They only use vanilla gelato but you can just ask for that without all the other stuff.
  12. We are mid ship on deck 14. Directly above us is Cones & Coffee and the pizza place, Slice. pizza is very good. Cones & Coffee has very good softee ice cream. They also have specialty coffees and delicious hot chocolate.
  13. We have found the MDR food good. They have great special’s for breakfast. We get up very early and to the international cafe for pastry for the room. They have a fabulous almond croissant which is only available until 10 am. They also have monkey bread which is a cinnamon cake like pastry but you have to ask for it.
  14. We were on the Royal in January and had a expresso coffee machine in our penthouse.
  15. very cold and windy. Best thing I brought was earmuffs. People who are on a back to back said last week was hot ! We were lucky and got a penthouse from a bid. Great location, midship deck 14. The balcony is fully covered which is great for Alaska as it rains on and off. We can look down on balcony cabin’s balconies. They are totally exposed with no overhang which looks like they are fairly useless in this weather. Food has been very good. We order coffee and juice to the cabin very early every morning and it is delivered within 10 minutes. Ship is very clean. Not to impressed with production shows but did see a good comedian today. If you get confused when going back to your cabin, for the even number ones , the hall carpet has red berries on it. The carpet in the hallway that has green berries has the odd number cabins. It is very subtle but the panel outside your entry has buttons for…make up the room or do not disturb. any questions?
  16. We are currently on the Crown. We we’re just in Skagway the other day and did NOT have to tender !
  17. The Crowns public areas are definitely colder. We are in a penthouse. There is no coffee maker in the cabin and the bathroom is a bit smaller. there is no suite lounge.
  18. Currently on Crown in Alaska….no crab Alaskan king crab season was canceled last year and this year.
  19. I would assume non refundable means non refundable.....
  20. We live on the West Coast & have taken many of these cruises. You do NOT need a jacket & tie. But there are always a few who chose to dress up...
  21. I have NEVER got a reminder email from Princess .Luckily my internet TA gives me a heads up about a week before the due date.
  22. We are on the Crown Princess next week & have done everything on my ipad with no trouble. Since that cruise is so close, I thought I better start checking things on my iphone. When I click on the app there, it shows the cruise we are taking in November. I cannot find anyway to to see next weeks cruise. Any suggestions ?? thanks
  23. We were on a California/Mexico cruise a few months back. No formal Just 'dress to impress'. VERY FEW really dressed up.
  24. We sail in a week. No menus but it looked like the full schedules were on the app a moth ago
  25. Do not think you can book online. I get emails from the casino department all the time listing available cruises with their discount Although it looks like you can book online, every time I have tried it, you cannot complete the booking. You must call. That actually worked out better for me the last time. I called on a booking that said it was available for a penthouse for $1,000. You could not chose the cabin. I was told these cruises are capacity controlled & that category was no longer available. I was clearly disappointed. Then the gentleman told me he could get me on the sailing that was one week later & I could pick my cabin for that same price ! That sailing was not listed on my original email. Needless to say...I booked it immediately. One thing to remember...If you book through a casino offer...it does not matter how far out the cruise date is...you must pay in full at the time of booking. Regular cancellation dates do apply for refunds.
