You don't need Internet to access the "find my shipmate" function of the app
You can use the app with ships intranet.
If you all have WiFi Internet access, you can message each other via Whatsapp, FB Messenger, whatever.
And use the Find My Shipmate via app, or boards around the ship..
Very easy with WiFi Internet, same as on land. Make a group bus Whatsapp or FB messenger or whatever texting app and you can reach everyone in your group with one text.
That is great news! Thank you

If you have the Wi-Fi package, is it easy to find people on the ship that you came with?

I was hoping to sail south from NY/NE. I live in Maine so it would be handy to have a port close by. My boyfriend now has an aversion to flying.

One thing to keep in mind is that, as you can see in the screen shot above, Princess always state "New York City (Manhattan or Brooklyn)" even though in the vast majority of cases, the sailings will be from Red Hook in Brooklyn (which is of course technically in New York ;o). It's very unlikely that a Princess sailing will start and end at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.
Interesting. Thank you

Perhaps go to the Princess site and search for sailings from New York during your desired time frame? Princess have tons of sailings out of Brooklyn (as well as Boston) mostly to Canada/New England. AFAIK, the main lines sailing out of NJ (Cape Liberty) are X and RCCL, Princess use Brooklyn almost exclusively.
Thats really weird because I did that and couldn't find any. I will have to try again. Thank you for your help!

I have sailed out of New Jersey and New York with Princess but I can't find anymore cruises sailing from there. Does anyone know of any Princess cruises that I am missing?

Few questions:
What is Ocean Now?
What food choices are there that are included in the price of the cruise beside main dining room and buffet?
Where does it say on the documents if you got the premier or plus fare?
TIA!

Thank you everyone

You have to positively state to have your booking marked "No Upgrade." I always have my T.A. arrange for this. I don't know how you do it if you booked on line.
Do you want all your accounts linked or your dining linked? You link accounts by providing the same credit card number for all individuals. You link dining in the Dine My Way app.
Thank you!

It's a tick box when booking.
You mean when I booked I should have checked a box?

I have heard that Princess will upgrade you without you wanting to. Is that true? If so how can I prevent this? Another question, we are going with 2 other couples. Should we link our rooms?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I haven't been on Princess in a long time. (Pre-drink packages 🤫) Can you use the medallion on the island or do you need cash?
TIA!

Hi Tia! Welcome to NLC cruising. This is covered in he FAQ section of the NCL site., You can bring wine in board with a $15 corkage fee per bottle no matter where you consume your wine. Hope you have a fantastic time on your cruise.
Thank you!

You get a $15.00 corkage fee if you open your own bottle in your room?
Never mind, I just saw the other answer

If you have a beverage package, including the Free at Sea offering, yes. You may bring as much wine as you'd like onboard, with no corkage fee. If you have no beverage package, then it's $15 per bottle.
Ahh ok, thank you!

On the other lines I have been on you could bring 1 bottle pp when boarding the ship. Does NCL allow this alos?
TIA

Sure you will have a great cruise. I do like booking my specialty dining early but don't worry if the times seem limited as they always have more availability on board. You can get on board credit if have a statement or trade confirmation showing you hold 100 or more shares of NCL stock and submit it. If you are going to book ship excursions to use your $50 per room credit, do that early as excursions definitely sell out often before boarding.
Other than just searching for Encore in the NCL forum, you might do some reading of Encore roll calls, I often do that when getting on a new ship.
Thank you, I will definitely check out the roll calls.

My family just got off the Encore in March. Beautiful ship. Make sure you book your shows and specialty dining as soon as you get the chance. It fills up quickly. We like to go to the box office as soon as we get on to book the comedians because you can't do that ahead of time.
Thank you for the information regarding the comedians!
