  1. The price online for pre ordering was $32.50! Not sure where you found the $28.i thought that if they allowed two bottles of wine, they would allow some beer. I don't want it for the day we sail, I just want a supply while we are sailing to drink on the verandah. We are in a Neptune, so I suppose they could bring us a bucket of beer when we want it. We are already planning on bringing aboard one bottle each of wine for the room. I just thought it walls be nice to have the fridge stocked before we boarded. Guess I will wait

  2. We just looked at what beer packages might be available to have delivered to our room at embarkation. Not the best to choose from, but the prices for a 6 pack are outrageous. The last time we sailed, I think a bucket of 6 beers was in the range of $20, then tax and gratuity was added. Is it possible to bring your own beer on board?

  3. We have not been for awhile. I follow the forum: traveltalkonline.com. You can go to anywhere and follow discussions. I follow the St Martin one because we used to go there once a year for 2-3 weeks at a time. On the St Martin forum you can ask any question about the island, including the best things to do off a cruise ship and private tour companies that will lick you up at the cruise port. A very good resource!

  4. Be aware that most of the old beach bars have been torn down and they are rebuilding with traditional beach bars. They have left a couple of larger beach bars standing. I don't belief they are completed yet, miso not sure what the status is for tourists. Club Orient is untouched by this remodeling of the beach

  5. You may just get lucky. We were doing a night cruise on the Danube here in Budapest and say a long boat going up river. Something must have changed farther up. As far as I know it has not rained but maybe way up river it has. Good luck to all of you! I hope your sailings are as good as ours was or even better. May the river be open for all of you!

  6. From the Viking people I have talked to over here they were not told of the inability to sail until they got here. When they asked before they left they were told it would depend on the levels on the day they were to sail

  7. It is my understanding that the fine print in the tour package covers this problem. A refund for low water is not an option. The water has been decreasing all spring, summer and fall so a few rainy days will not correct the problem this fall. Maybe not next spring if there is not snow farther up. If you could see the Danube

Here in Budapest you would appreciate how low it is. The banks are very exposed and steep. Hardly any river traffic. In talking to Viking people here, it appears people are being bussed

from port to port and they are sleeping and eating on the ships that are docked at the port. Not ideal but more interesting than a hotel and you get all the benefits of a

ship. In 2013 they had record floods and the ships could not sail then either. They couldn't get under the bridges. Worse yet, the towns were flooded and could not be visited! For us, Gate 1 has gone out of their way to make it up to us the best they can by giving us lots of extras. I have no complaints!

  8. No, we just end the. Raise a day early. I think since all cruise ships are bussing their passengers, busses are at a premium. Today was to be our half day tour of Budapest and we would have had to come back to the boat. This way we had a whole day tour, lunch and tonight a full goodbye dinner like we would have had on the boat. It is all good

  9. Arrived in Budapest today. Only small day ships are going up and down the river. Met Viking people today who are being bussed to Kormoron where we disembarked. We disembarked a day early so we did not have to be bussed back and forth and are in a hotel on the Buda side. Heard today that

The river is now closed Nurenburg to Passau. It will take a lot of rain to correct

The low levels. Hopefully people will get some sailing in but if not it is still wonderful seeing Europe. Everyone is in the same boat, so to speak.

  10. I think everyone waits until the last minute as things change so fast. We have seen only a spitting of rain that happened during budding. Otherwise the weather has been sunny, windy and in the low 60s. Perfect but cold winds at times and in the shade. Unpacked for warm weather and have been wearing the same thing for two weeks....one of my two long sleeve shirts and my fleece jacket. A lot

If people packed a really lightweight winter nylon jacket and they have been comfortable. A hat and gloves would have been good and a scarf is a must!

  11. We are now docked at

Vienna. We sail tomorrow for a docking 1 1/2 hour from Budapest. We were

told at the briefing tonight that we would disembark a day early and they would put us up in a hotel in Budapest. They will pay for lunch and have the equivalent of the captains dinner and entertainment at the hotel. This eliminates the problem of the passengers that have early flights out on Sunday. We would have been 1 1/2

hours away and it would have been problematic. They are doing all they can to compensate for the disappointment of not sailing into Budapest. It is a day to day situation and since there has been no rain in the 10 days we have been here, it can only get worse. When we started it was clear sailing into Budapest. It changed within a day. We feel lucky we sailed as far as we did

  12. We are now docked at Melk, Austria. We got notified last night that the Danube is now closed to Budapest and no ships will be allowed to enter the port. We will be docked 1 1/2 hours from Budapest and be bussed in from there for sightseeing and return to the ship for sleeping. Then we will be bussed to our hotels to depart for home. We have 3 days in Budapest. This is disappointing, but everyone is in the same situation. At least we have been sailing and the weather is perfect. Sunny and cool. All is good! Can't argue with Mother Nature.....

    We

Are on Gate 1 Sound of Music. Great little ship! We disembark Sunday morning and start out 3 days in Budapest

  13. We are currently docked at Vilshofen, just past Regrnsburg. No ships are sailing north of this port due to low water levels. We boarded Sunday and were bussed to Nurenburg and Regensburg for sightseeing. We sail south tomorrow for Passau.

  14. We are sailing 11 days in January. We have two PG dinners in our drink package. I do now want to miss the night the MDR serves the lobster. If I book the PG soon after we board, hoe will I know what night lobster night will be?

  15. I posted on another topic but we originally booked a suite with the Explore 4. We started calculating how much it would be worth to us. Since the drink limit was $8/drink, that eliminated a nice bottle of wine. Couldn't use it at HMC either. Couldn't order drinks for use in the suite. Included a meal at the Italian restaurant, which is just ok for us. We called and had it removed(doing ticketing with a TA). It saved us $1000/pp!!!! We then got the wine package that includes two Pinnacle dinners for two. We can drink and eat a lot of stuff for $1000/pp!

  16. We originally booked with the Explore 4 and then got to thinking about the real value of it since the alcohol cannot be over $8/drink, purchased free on HMC or in your room. We had it removed and saved$1000/pp!!!!!
