  1. Is it even possible to drive to Neets bay? We are reacting a car, and not sure what the best thing for a party of 7 to do when non of the shore excursions tickle our fancy. We would like to see nature and get away from the crowd. I would like to fish

  2. I currently have a minivan rented in Ketchikan for 7 of us because no excursions caught our eye. I see one person also opted for a car here as well, but one person is sayingKetchikan is small. Is it worth it to use the rental car in Ketchikan? we would like to get outside of the crowds, see a lake, walk a trail. maybe even fish a little. any advise would be great

  3. Don’t have an answer but also wondering. Debating purchasing a sdp and with the upcharge it seems we might do better just paying oop. In looking at the menu it’s confusing how to use a sdp credit plus the $16 upcharge to get one main, one app and one dessert and come out ahead. Perhaps worth it if the sdp was a perk and just the 20% gratuity but from what I’m seeing it looks a lot less $ to pay a la carte prices unless I’m missing something.

I've been pondering this too. They charged me the up charge just when booking the reservation. but I've also heard that if you pick the 3 SDP or buy a 3 SDP and you go to 4 Speciality restaurants that you get you decide which restaurants to use on the package.

  4. Well gratuities that are only apparent on a paycheck are less appreciated at the time of serving. They begin to appear like regular wages. However, small tips in the states can be perceived mockinlgy in the states.

To be clear, I am against the idea of tips in most circumstances in the states but I understand there are differences with cruises.

I'm trying to maximize the level of service we receive.

    well said

  5. yes, and kind of no. You book your ARRIVAL time. it should prompt you in your My NCL. In Seattle the Bliss starts BOARDING at noon. For instance I booked my arrival time for 9:30-10:30, but I won't be on the boat till after boarding starts.

  6. Playing max bet has nothing to do with the RNG. The reason you should always play Max Bet is because many machines (particularly progressives) do not award the Jackpot unless you are playing Max Bet. If you take a moment to read the game rules you'll find that out.

Therefore, it's always best to find a machine where you can afford to play max bet.

Your reasoning, and ill-fated logic is literally why casinos exist in the first place, please stop recommending this gambling approach. No educated gambler would ever recommend someone to actually invest their bankroll into a slot machine for anything other than entertainment.

Firm logic for anyone who actually wants to gamble and not just feed money to a machine.

    1. Casinos are mostly made up of slot machines because they are they are the most profitable.

    2. Every player, regardless of the game is subject risk of ruin (RoR), which is driven by short term variance of the game and exposure to bankroll when a given game has a negative Expected Value (EV). Slot machines have both the highest Variance and Exposure to Bankroll due to the number of exposures per hour, we can hit that button really fast. To advise a player always play max bets, sometimes as high as 10x the minimum bet is to give their bankroll that much MORE exposer to the most disadvantaged game in the whole casino.

    3. As bad as slot machines are for a player's bankroll already; playing max bets solely to hit the jackpot, which it the least likely outcome of any given spin, puts the player at an even faster RoR given the extremely high variance of the game. To advise people to exponentially increase their bets sounds like the work of the casino themselves.

Bottom line is casinos are made by players who consistently expose their bankroll to negative Expected Value (EV) games like slot machines who also have the higher rates of decisions per hour. We should be advising players who want to WIN to chose higher EV games that have lower amounts of decision per hour, and lower variance like Craps.

  7. I think if they are going to put a 2hr window they should allow reservations at 5pm to allow for early shows. It never takes 2 hours when going to Manhattan room

I agree, it was pretty difficult for our party 7 to make both dining and shows work. With that said, they only a lot a 2 hour time frame for dinner for parties of of more than 4.

  8. From the looks of it, Cigarette smokers pack into it. Also

The smokers are not happy how the casino is set up for

Them. The smoking area of the casino is a glass

Enclosed space, that doesn’t have a bar. So the bar

In the casino is smoke free. Heard lots of complaints

From smokers about no being able to use the bar.

Sounds like people are just looking for reasons to complain. No one said if you are a smoker you can't get a drink at the casino bar, haha. Smoke your cigarette while you lose you money on the slots, grab a drink at the bar, and sit down to some BlackJack 3 mins later. If someone really has to chain-smoke for hours at a a time, they have servers for that reason. lol.

  9. Doug quick question since you are in a mini suite.... is there a privacy curtain that separates main sleeping area from sofa area for 3rd and 4th passengers??
Without visual confirmation the Family OV rooms are supposed to. I'm hoping that the x700 rooms even have an alcove.
  10. Thanks so much for this. There are some rooms on board with a 'little something extra' like the x700 family Oceanview rooms. we are booked on 9700 and 11700. If it's not too much to ask any pictures or videos of those rooms would be amazing!!! The Ocean Blue Menu would be great to see, is there a raw bar? Are here Tomahawk steaks available at Cagneys? We get to book out restaurants soon, and it would help us determine things.

    Thanks so much,

    Neil

  11. Do you have any idea if there is any difference between Bliss 9700 and 11700 in size or cabin features? They are depicted differently on the Bliss deck plans, with 9700 showing a large room and the other decks 10700-13700 showing the mysterious white space, which on the Escape is partially filled up with a secret sofa alcove. Any rumors of how these cabins --700 are laid out on Bliss?

I have been asking this question for forever, and no one seems to have an answer. from the deck plans i'm expecting that 10700-13700 will all be like the video on you tube on the escape of 10700, and am hoping that 9700, is even bigger. I'm hoping some TA's or people on the inaugural are in the know about these special rooms and will get some footage. Pretty Please!
