  1. I'm pretty sure your first position is (or was) correct. Liquor coffees (Irish, etc) covered by UBP, other upscale coffees extra, i.e. at the Atrium. It has been that way on all our NCL cruises over the last couple of years and was on the Jade in May.

Have you ever order non upscale drinks from the atrium? Is this the only place on board that serve Lavazza/Starbucks? Of course the $7 frap isn't included, but a drip coffee or an americano, or single shot espresso is much cheaper and easier than those froo froo concoctions. I'm not saying I'm right, but I'm saying you might not have asked the right questions. The UBP only excludes "select" Lavazza coffee beverages, it would be more simple to just say all Lavazza coffee beverages are excluded, but they don't.

  2. I made a fool of myself on FB, arguing with somebody that talked about getting Starbucks in the Atrium. And then other people spoke up and said it switched over in March (I believe).

Before I make a fool of myself again... what was ever covered by UBP at the atrium coffee counter? The only coffee-related drinks that I thought were covered were things like Irish coffee. Sure, if ordered in the atrium they were often made with the same Lavazza coffee, but I think that was just because of proximity.

Just going off what friends have experienced and the fine print on the UBP, only select Lavazza drinks are excluded from the UBP. friends with the package have had no problem getting drip coffees and espresso shots, but not froo froo concoctions.

  3. PBR is the cheapest of the lot in USA - I hope it's something else! :P

Agreed, hopefully the poster can clarify. I have a cellar full of the best beer the Belgians make, the only even brewery that comes close to PBR is BFM, which would be light years ahead of any beer on any cruise ship currently sailing.

  4. I can't remember who or where but I remember talking with someone that the Bliss was rumored to not have the brew pub? Bliss will have the first full blown Starbucks on an NCL ship following Starbuck's brand guidelines.

Where did you see this? I haven't seen this anywhere. As of now some of the Lavazza Drinks are included in the UBP, I wonder if they would include Starbuck basic drinks as well.

  5. I didn't get to see the deleted post, but thanks for the heads up on the heads up in the carry on. thats kind of a pain, because its not small, or very light, and we don't have FTTF so its gonna be a few hours till we get in our room. but if we have to lug it around in the carryon I guess thats what we will do. No one is running around leaking, my wife will just pump and dump just so she is not uncomfortable in the mornings.

    Thanks for your help guys

  6. We embark in 2 days and my wife informed me that she will need to bring a breast pump. Does anyone have any insight if this would be a problem to bring in our checked baggage? she is bringing her mechanical one, not a hand pump

  7. Only 4 more days!!! Happy Dance

I'm new to Carnival, so learning a lot here. Is there truly just a lack of correspondence or did we just slip through the cracks? We never recieved a packet in the mail, or any kind of marketing, or any correspondence emails except for them asking us to take a survey. Without searching here as well as their website I wouldn't even know that I need to print and fill out a health waiver, or luggage tags, or online check in. The list goes on and on.

Is this the norm? We are just used to other lines building up the excitement. I even emailed the casino a question a month ago, and they promptly said mailed back sand said they had no answer to my question and since my cruise WAS ONLY 1 MONTH AWAY they highly doubt that they would get back to me in time.

All of this today, that I'm a little nervous that there is part of the processing i'm missing and embarkation won't go smoothly.

  8. There is, the food is much better at a nice land based restaurant then on a cruise ship. The food on a cruise ship is fine, but its more on the line of the food you get at a chain restaurant then at a fine dining restaurant.

I totally agree, and Carnival is always ranked near the bottom for their MDR, not to mention they just did away with the ubiquitous lobster dinner for formal night on shorter cruises, it is far from fine dining.

That being said we are checking out Carnival because they do have such a lax standards, and there will be no need for a jacket. I'm a Hawaiian shirt and slacks kind of guy, is this against the rules in the MDR?

  9. Living so close to the U.S./Mexico border I have had the pleasure of eating in an around Ensenada, for a long time, but I haven't been there in a couple years. DW and I plan on hitting our favorite places La Guerrerense and Breve Cafe, but i'm sure you guys have some other favorites, so please share. My idea of a shore excursion is eating all the real indigenous foods.
