  1. I mean good coffee! ;-)

I've never seen good coffee on any cruise ship, same with beer.

I like Juices, these are not included in the soda package so for a 7 night sailing it make sense for me to take the UBP as a perk and pay the $99 gratuities because i'll surely drink more than the difference from the ~$65 soda package even if I never touch alcohol.

  2. We are on the Aug 4-11 sailing. I initially booked two connecting oceanviews and a studio cabin August 18-24 but my son will be starting college next fall and I didn't want to run into him missing move-in day.

When moving up the sailing week, I also decided to upgrade to a balcony ;p

I started the Roll call for that sailing. I was surprised that no one had.

Aww, so close. We are on the 18th Sailing. Yeah, I started the Roll Call as well, but only have 1 person so far :(

  3. I am assuming that you do not know what rye is as the person who you quoted.

Rye is rare in a burbon you must use 51% RYE to be called a RYE burbon and that is from the 1700s in America.

Most Bourbons are a lot sweeter than RYE from the corn mash. Jack is a Bourbon they only make a rare version of RYE

Your lack of punctuation, and poor spelling makes things very hard to read. But you need some education, and clarification on terms here man. Rye is not rare in Bourbon, Rye and Wheat are very commonly used as the "flavoring grains" in Bourbon, some even use rye as the second ingredient in the mash bill. Go grab a bottle of Black Maple Hill 16, and experience that bite. Bourbon is not cheaper to make, new charred oak and longer aging is required. Anything of exceptional quality has an age statement. The words Jack and Rare are mutually exclusive, they are a sour mash high volume, low cost whiskey producer, but they make STRAIGHT whiskey, not a BLEND. A blend refers to adding lower cost SPIRIT or ADJUNCT to the whiskey making not a straight whiskey, say JD Honey.

  4. I have a list compiled from a live thread posted by TheDougOut in mid July. I'll post a link in the morning. There are a few local, south Florida breweries. Off the top of my head, I remember Due South, Funky Buddha, and Cigar City. Funky Buddha just sold to Constellation, but that was only a week ago

    Full list in the AM.

You know your stuff! CC is toast as well, but even though the DBH list isn't really up to my standards there are a few gems there, and probably the best list at sea.

The lack of any real Bourbon under $15 is truly scary, looks like even Woodford is toast. I sure hope they change this on the Bliss, how are you going to have a Maltings Whiskey lounge and not have a decent Bourbon?

  5. Delurking....

I have had our two cabins booked since February, only telling my husband about it last night! :)

Planning our first ALL family cruise, bringing my oldest daughter on her first cruise, 5 of us total. My son will be attending college a few days after our return so it will be a great time to make memories.

We are booked on Bliss in August 2018. My husband has dreamed of Alaska for years. While it is a highlight tour, it will give us a taste of the beauty in that area.

I settled on a B8 balcony on Deck 9 with the kids on an inside across the hall.

We were on the Getaway two weeks after her first sailing and I loved watching her come together. This will be exciting to see the newest in the fleet finalize.

Awesome! Which August sailing are you on, we might be neighbors on Deck 9

  6. If only they were open for lunch too! Not enough dinners on a cruise. But maybe it is a good thing as I would be drinking their Spicy Margarita like I was a fish.

Open for Lunch would be my hope for Bliss, seems like a perfectly priced lunch option to pay out of pocket and not use a SDP credit. Living is SoCal we have so much good mexican food that I don't really see this as Specialty.

  7. The District Brew House on the Escape has some decent selections. I was just gobsmacked by the bourbons. Maybe I misread the acronym and it's Unimpressive Bourbon Package. ;) Don't get me wrong, I can find a workaround. But it's bourbon for crying out loud. It's not like we're looking for a rare absinthe.

It would not even take a beverage professional to find popular, cost effective spirits in this day and age. Look at your distro list and cross reference it with websites ranking peoples preferences, then pay $2 more a bottle for Basil Hayden's or EC12 and that bottle of JW red doesn't collect dust. Maybe even take your allocated Weller 12 and make it some ultra premium because it's more rare but still cheap.

Do you have a list or recall what breweries were carried at District? I'll cry if they are trying to peddle Elysian or 10 barrel as craft.

  8. I hear you. Maker's Mark drinker here. My last free beverage package had Buffalo Trace, Jim Beam, Jim Beam Red Stag, Knob Creek, Maker's Mark, Tatoosh, and Wild Turkey 101. Maker's, Knob Creek and Tatoosh were $7.95. The rest were $6.75 or $7.50 Of course, that was on our usual, old people cruise line, which was completely lacking in water slides. Also, they only let you have 15 drinks a day on the package. I suppose that could be a problem if you needed more than a fifth each day. ;) I mean, you could always buy drinks number 16 and up...

I've resigned myself to Bulliet for the week, although I prefer a little less rye in the mash.

On the plus side, I couldn't get Pitbull's Voli vodka on the other ship, and you just can't get too much Pitbull.

Beer/Bourbon drinker here, super sad at this list, no good Bourbon options I would pay for top shelf if there was one, but there isn't even an Elijiah Craig 12 on the list, and that's cheaper than Woodford. I'm booked on the Bliss and they have a District Brew house, so maybe there will at least be some sort of actual craft beer, not some AB/InBev buyout brand.

  9. Yes this is correct. This is always only for travel agents. I was on the one for Escape in 2016 for 2 nights before ut was offical available for passengers for a cruise from Hamburg.

This is great news, as I could probably swing it to be my TA's +1. How does one find out if this is intact what they are doing with that chunk of time?

  10. A-list Bar, named after Mr. Andy!

    Skyline casino bar...

So far these rendering are not showing bar top video poker in the Skyline Casino bar. I hope that is just an oversight!! I plan to spend ample time drinking at that bar and playing video poker, a much better way to play than sitting at some slot machine.

  11. Keep checking!! Right now they are just reading off the info that has been provide. Since the ship is in production- it could change. [emoji20]

We got caught in the same scenario with the Carnival Dream. A divider was put in the wrong place and the wrap balcony we booked became a TINY balcony. [emoji15]

Thats what i'm worried about, because there is a range of sq.ft.'s given. Does anyone know if the sq. footages on the Escape are correct? according the the deck plans the biggest that 12700 on the Escape could be is 239 sq. ft. but if all the x700 rooms on the Bliss are 367sq. ft. then are these OV rooms really bigger?

  12. All this talk about rooms not being what they seem is making me wonder if i'm really getting what I booked. We booked two of those awesome x700 Cat. O1 rooms on the Bliss after seeing how great they were on the Escape with the same description and similar Cat. number (O2), and virtually the same Sq ft. (161-239). but now i'm worried it might not be the same. There is only one of the Category on floors 9-13, but it also says this category also exists on deck 5, but I cannot see it. the Sq. Ft. range for this category is from 240-367, and I assumed the smaller 240 cabins was the ones on deck five, but as I look at the deck plan more it looks like 9700 is drawn bigger than the rest of the x700 rooms, and maybe only that room is the 367 sq. ft. regardless both of the renderings of the x700 floor plans seem to be wrong for the Escape compared to the video of room 12700 on You Tube. Can anyone please shed some light on this issue.

  13. Honestly the stacks were never really big enough for me to play the cash games. All of the bigger stacks except 1 were pretty good players. Also it would have been tough to overcome the rake. I probably could have made money though but I did not want to put in the hours on this cruise, we had a big group with us and we were always doing something fun. The tournaments are bad enough with the rake but so easy.

Sorry to drag this old post up, but are you really saying they are taking a rake out of the TOURNAMENT pots? I've never encountered this in tourney play, of course the live action has an almost sinister rake to it.

  14. This might give some insight...or not. I don't drink much, but would probably have at least $40 worth of drinks on a week long cruise, and from what I can tell everything that is in the soda package is also in the UBP, so I still spring for the $100 in gratuities instead of the $60 soda package, and if they want a glass of wine with dinner twice on the cruise it almost pays for itself.
