  1. A couple of years ago we were getting back on ship and in the lift with a couple who had been on the rum runner trip he couldn't stand up, speak or do anything really, his wife was so apologetic. We ended up dining with them a few nights later, we were very polite and didn't mention it until he started talking about the strength of the rum on a recent tour. He said he didn't get up the whole of the next day and has never been drunk like that in his life we all had a real laugh about it especially when they realised it was us in the lift.

They were really nice people and it was a complete accident getting so drunk so we should never judge a book by it's cover we are all allowed to make mistakes.

So be warned if you go on the rum runner trip!!!!!

  2. Our first P & O cruise we didn't go to any of the sail aways so knew nothing about the GBS we came across it last year by accident and had a front row seat round the pool and really enjoyed it. It's a bit cheesy but fun, not something I would want to do each evening but just seeing everyone enjoy it is really uplifting.

  3. 333 is usually the Dreamliner it's a nice plane only draw back is the 333 seating drinks & snacks are not included but a meal and small sandwich and orange juice are. We did it last year and upgraded to extra leg room with a bulk head in front of us, we have upgraded the inbound flight this year but couldn't get hte seats we wanted for outbound so are going to chance it.

  4. If they change it to 2 x freedom on Azura we will try her again, we go for Ventura because she has 2 freedom dining rooms, we have to book late for a few reasons's need carers for parents, work commitments and budget restrictions, so with 2 freedom we have more chance of not being put in club dining which we wouldn't want.

Keep us posted anyone who is on board she's on her way now to the Caribbean so hopefully the change will be made soon.

  5. Last time we only had 3 formal nights which were all on sea days and as one of the sea days was the last night for those people who arrived on the Friday it wasn't a formal night. Gettin formal clothes in suitcases and outside doors for midnight would be a bit of a pain.

Not sure if they will do this again we will have to wait and see what people say on the November cruises, they could do a fomal night on one of the early sailings after a day in port?

  6. You were lucky with the upgraded flight there were none left from Manchester when we booked last Friday. We have managed to get extra leg room on the inbound flight at a cost of £40 each, no extra leg room on the outbound unfortunately we are just going to take pot luck I think.

This is our 3rd cruise with P & O and we find the product is really good value for money.

We arrive on the 5th so have the day in Barbados at the start, we find the last day is nice and quiet on board as most people are off the ship, the one thing you couldn't do whilst the ship was docked in Barbados was use the washing machine's so if you want to do some washing don't wait till Barbados (this has been the same for all our days docked in Barbados)

  7. I agree what you paid for your holiday is not a good topic of conversation, you know what you are doing when you book and if you are taking a chance or not and it's only the same as buying something from a shop.

I bought 2 Jenny Packham evening dresses on line from Debenhams and was really happy with my purchase, then saw exactly the same on ebay for half the price it's the gamble you take - still happy with my purchase they were still a bargain!!!!!

  8. Last year our hand luggage (2 small wheely cabin size bags) was checked for size and weight at Manchester, we had been tipped off that it would be, so we took a ruck sack with the laptop in and my handbag and spread out the heavier items between the 4 bags then once through check-in re packed in the wheely cases.

We also got a couple of bottles of spirits in DF and popped them in the wheely cases as well to minimise the amount we had to carry.

Hope this helps but I am sure they will start weighing laptop bags and handbags soon or say you cannot have more than one item of hand luggage which they have never done so far when I have had carry on hand luggage.

  9. Queen Mary to New York is definitely a bucket list thing, we ticked it off the list a few years ago at first said we would never do it again but now a few years later it's a maybe.

We had according to the Commodore one of the worst crossing's he had ever done the weather was terrible we couldn't go outside for 3/4 days the doors were all tied shut. The food was very good, entertainment good, the experience amazing as was NY the week before Xmas. We only paid 499 pp for the crossing and return flight so it was a bargain.

Put it on your bucket list and look out for a good deal

  10. We got off the plane and got on one of the first buses and were one of the first to get to the ship and went straight through check-in and straight on board the first time. the 2nd time got on one of the first 5/6 buses and got to check-in to find that check-in had a few 100 passengers from the plane before us still in line for check-in so I wouldn't gamble on waiting for the last bus because you never know what's at the other end!!!
