  1. St V is not a favourite of ours been a few times on one trip we did the visit to the churches which was quite nice the amazing glass window that Queen Victoria donated to them is a real experience when you consider how they transported it there. The other church as a school attached you can see the kids studying it was lovely.

For me that was the best visit we have had, every time we have had rain from a short downpour to constant but it's still a lovely island that appears to be very poor. Yes I agree a trip is really needed and I think then you would see a very different St V and that is what we will do if we find our selves there again.

  2. Please can I ask do you get the past passenger discount off saver fares or just the select fare?

I wasn't even aware you get past passenger discounts!! We have spent over 70 nights aboard just goes to show I should read up a bit more, we unfortunately can only book holidays 4/5 weeks ahead due to carer commitments and parents health, when they are having a good run and carers are available we book a holiday so very rarely use the select fares and have only once had OBC.

  3. Hi all

TC for me I prefer the seat config. I am okay on the OB flight as it's day time but the iB flight is a different matter as it's night time and I need my sleep and struggle to sleep in the air so the seat config. is important to me.

We have done the P & o Caribbean for a number of years now and always on the Thomson flight, paid for bulk head seats extra leg room seats and last year asked for the TC flight so we see if it suited us better and it did better food but love James Martin anyway the seating was much better.

Not booked this years yet as waiting to see if a 3 berth cabin comes available then we can take our grandson

  4. We took alcohol on board Cunard, I really hope they don't stop allowing you to bring alcohol on board, I love a drink sat on the balcony late afternoon, before dinner in the cabin and last thing at night again on the balcony. I also hope they don't stop the use of electric cigarettes on the balcony as well.

Last year a cabin near to us complained that I was smoking on the balcony and a member of the management team called to see me to say they had reports of cigarette smoke coming from my balcony I explained that I don't smoke tobacco only electric cigarettes and that I though I could smoke in the cabin and balcony and showed him my electric cigarette he apologised and left.

  5. I rang the 020 number yesterday and waited for over half an hour till the portable phone crashed then rang again on the 0844 number answered within 5 minutes and got an excellent service when I did get through but so I should when I am paying an arm and a leg for the call.

They just don't seem to have the staff on at weekend during the week there is no problem

  6. We've done Azura, Ventura & Britannia all in the Caribbean and would not choose Britannia as our first choice but if it was between that and not going then we would.

Britannia - we loved the bathrooms with the glass shower doors, the buffet restaurant is excellent, the grab and go is a good idea, the cabins are very nice with great TV's on the walls but.........

We prefer the Azura and Ventura because, we like the entertainment venues better the Marlabar and the Tamarind are really good if the other entertainment is not to your liking, we like the art gallery's, we prefer the back of the ship the pool is much better really not keen on the pool at the back of the ship on the Britannia and the area is reserved for teenagers during the holidays.

Don't like the smoking area's at the back of the ship the smell gets everywhere - sorry an x smoker!!

Not sure that there really are enough sun beds for that size ship we witnessed arguments, people up at 5 am to get a sunbeds and going to breakfast in shifts so no one took them, people having beds in the sun and in the shade - P & O really need to take some action on this as you cannot rely on your balcony as they are not big enough!!

Anyway we did have a lovely holiday on the Britannia and we are not sorry we tried it just it would't be our first choice but if the itinerary was more to our liking would would try again but wouldn't pay extra for a balcony.

  7. Yep soot is a bit of a problem it ruined my white bikini before I realised what the problem was not a problem though P & O refunded me, know i know I will avoid the area if I go on Britannia again.

Cannot fault P & O CS I have had a few issues and all have been settled professionally and fairly - I am not a greedy person and a bit of soot does not ruin my holiday!!

  8. Thank you all

glynandkath - you didn't come across as moaning just honest and that's what I asked for and thank you that's what I am hoping for, as originally said I cannot book until nearer the sail date and I know they often give out upgrades around there so if I am in luck a 3 bed cabin will become available.

He doesn't know about it so if it doesn't come off he will be none the wiser, if it does I will have that dreaded subject of school fine for taking him out of school to contend with but it is a one off.

Not got round to ringing P & O yet but will update when i so

  9. think it is going to be one of those personal choice things - we went December last year but they didn't have any sunbeds left so were only charging $15.00 to get in so we walked nearer to town on the same beach. Stayed an hour because it was so windy it was un-pleasant then it rained so saved our money!!

$5 back to the ship sat in the shelter on the balcony but do love Barbados

  10. Hello

We usually do the pre-Xmas Caribbean cruise, we prefer the Azura to the Britannia what extra can I expect to pay for my grandson who is 9? we book last minute as can only guarantee carers for my parents 8 weeks before so we are saver fare bookers.

With 3 of us in a cabin what should I expect to pay for him? I rang one of the TA's who said no cabins available surly it's just converting he settee or using one of the pull down things from the ceiling?

Anyone had experience of this as don't want ot mention if it's not going to be a possibility.

  11. We have done the pre-Xmas cruise for the last few years getting home 2 or 3 days before the 25th. I means I have to be very organised at home before I go, so Xmas for 15 takes place. When we board in Barbados the decorations are usually being added and more and more arrive each day, this has been the same no matter which ship, Ventura, Azura and last year Britannia.

Not sure if we will be able to make it this year but still hoping

  12. Train for me, your holiday starts when you get on the train, we have a packed lunch with a couple of bottles of wine (small ones) driving the holiday for me doesn't start until you board the ship if you drive and it can be a frustrating/stressful journey.

Going home eat a good breakfast before leaving the ship, grab some butties and wine (yes again) at the shop and have a snooze on the train and then home.

That is my recipe for stress free travel to and from Southampton!!!
