  1. P & O's golden triangles are made with thick sliced bread which is fried, so no we are not talking about hash browns which P & O also offer every breakfast in the MDR.

Breakfast in the MDR is one of the highlights of my holidays I was disappointed that I couldn't have my thick fried bread and my thick toast with marmalade which is another of my loves. They just said they have stopped doing it no other explanation.

  2. I thought everyone on the outgoing flights were P & O customers? they all appear to get on the buses straight off the plane?

We were on the TC flight from Manchester at 10.30 made good time to Barbados but traffic from airport was terrible, we would only just have had time to go to the port shops before the muster - we bought 2L at Manchester.

I cannot remember if they sold DF on the outbound flight or not sorry but they did on the return.

  3. Excellent CS from P & O, we were allocated our cabin last week for our forthcoming Britannia cruise on the 5th December, they came us a small upgrade but the cabin was quite a way from the lifts I sent an email last night to ask if there were any other options.

Before 11 am this morning I had a reply and a cabin move to near the lifts with another small upgrade.

What an excellent service this is.

My partner has some walking difficulties so this will add to our enjoyment of the holiday, P & O didn't need to do anything as had more than we paid for and he is not disabled.

  4. Can anyone clarify for me the dining arrangements on Britannia?

We have cruised on Ventura and Azura in the Caribbean a good few times we always dine freedom it's suits us we like the flexibility, we were able to use both the Saffron and the Cinnamon lat year which left the other (cannot remember the name) for the club dining.

Is it the same on the Britannia? Just had our cabin allocated and wondering how much walking my OH is going to have to do as we are near the front for the first time. He needs a knee replacement which we have put off until spring time.

  5. We are on the 5.12 to Barbados from Manchester, we have booked seats in economy as they said there were none available in the premium cabin, but when I look on the seat booker it looks like I can book the premium seats I don't want to try in case loose my 2 seats as there are no more 2 seaters available. This may mean we don't have a premium section on the plane??

CCFC - what website do I Google the flight number on?

  6. Got our cabin allocation today booked HF grade which appears to be deck A so not sure if upgrade or same grade but not bothered, it all becomes real now anyone know anything about cabins in this area, I know the interior will be the same is there anything I need to know?

Cannot wait counting the get ups

  7. Last year the Caribbean cruises on Azura and Ventura came down to 999 for a balcony the lowest this year is 1149. I have tracked them all year and they have been very similar going up and down around the same time as last year.

I can only book a few weeks before travel, can only get carer's for very elderly parents last minute and work commitments, I agree book when you are happy with the price and don't look again.

  8. We were the same before our first cruise on the QM2, we had always taken beach holidays usually in the Maldives where is was very informal, we were worried about the formal evenings. As long as you plan ahead it's a doddle, we really enjoy them now.

Glad you enjoyed your P & O experience we love it too, the Caribbean suits us down to the ground as it's quite informal apart for the 4 formal nights. We are off again on the 5th of December for our pre-Xmas jaunt round the Caribbean and cannot wait for our first Britannia experience.

  9. Thank you for your suggestions, all sorted for Tortola - Brewer's beach sounds a nice change from CGB and it looks like the same type of Safari bus takes you, the only possible draw back may be not as many people going so bus may take ages to fill.

One sorted 3 more to go. Keep the idea's coming

  10. We are on the 4/5 December Britannia cruise, we picked the cruise for the ship not the itinerary, we have done all the islands before so are looking for some options. We love a nice beach that's easy to get to, not to far from the port. Not to much walking.

    Antigua - done Millers beach

Tortola - done Nanny Cay & Cane garden

Dominica - ashamed to say only done the town and am sure I am missing something

St Lucia - done Colsol a couple of times and don't want to do a full day trip would like a nice beach - cannot remember what we did last year but sure I didn't stay on board.

    Your help is appreciated

  11. Hello

please can I ask what cabin did you book and how long ago did you book?

I am hoping to book end November or early December just waiting to get confirmation that carers are in place for my elderly parents and can only book holidays a few weeks in advance so take pot luck on getting a bargain or paying over the odds it's swings and roundabouts

  12. Hi

It doesn't matter to me that you bump your plea each day I am interested to see if you get a resolution and hope you do, as you say it is a difficult time for you both emotionally and financially and I am sure most people can relate to your situation.

Most insurance companies only cover for very close family members and even when they do cover you they don't make it easy to claim or give you information or advice.

We had a similar problem a few years ago when both my Mum & Dad had had heart attacks and one of my daughters had her baby 2 months early, this all happened within 15 days of our departure, it was touch and go and we only finally decided to go 2 days before, but only after the insurance company confirmed that they would fly us back had the worst have happened which fortunately it didn't. I am more fortunate than most I work in the insurance industry so know what buttons to push.

I truly hope you are able to sort this out and only wish it was within my budget because it is a cracking deal you have.

Keep us all posted - not sure if this is going to make me popular or not but I pride myself in being a caring person and it would be nice to know that at your difficult time you are able to resolve your problem.

  13. We spend the last day early check out at passport control on the ship, leisurely breakfast in the MDR, check out of the room, hand luggage to the theatre, then a quick trip to the town or the shops at the port then back on board to catch the last of the rays when the ship is nice and quite, early lunch with a quick wash and brush up and are usually picked up around 2 -3.

We did the farewell to Barbados trip once and had a long wait at the airport because the flight in was delayed, if we had stayed on ship we would have had another 2/3 hours of holiday and not spent it in the airport which is not the best of airports.

But do as you feel is best and I am sure you will enjoy your last day.

  14. Oh what a shame I have never been to Madeira so I would have been very disappointed as well I wonder where it berthed when it did the Canaries cruise a couple of weeks ago - my friend was on it and didn't say it was a tender port?

Just concentrate on your planned holiday I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

  15. I don't drink tea or coffee but like a hot drink for breakfast and at other times of the day so drink hot sugar free Vimto, they now do it in those small concentrated bottle which are great for travelling.

I will also take some other flavoured water enhancers for my water in the day, I am sorry to say that I haven't given up alcohol and do like my G & T's but I do drink water in-between.

To answer your question no you wont be the odd ones out last year we dined a couple of times with a couple who were tee total and all went to the bar for a drink after dinner, they didn't mind us drinking and we didn't mind them drinking water the conversation was really interesting we had a lot in common.
