  1. I just returned yesterday from a roundtrip 7 day Alaskan from Seattle. This was my second time visiting Alaska. This morning I had to see if the photos of eagles I took from the Aleutian Ballad (season 2, Deadliest Catch) as we cruised out to pull crab pots turned out. I'm not a photographer, just a picture taker, but I'm very happy with these pics. I'm especially happy with the last photo because you can clearly see the fish in his talons.
  2. I'm a hotdog guy too, so you can imagine my joy when I was on a Princess ship for the first time and saw they offered a chili dog at their Trident Grill. You can imagine how disappointed I was in what I was served. Who in their right mind would call this a chili dog?
  3. I've never been impressed with the burgers served on any cruise line until I had a burger from Guy's Burger Joint, those burgers were outstanding.
  4. According to the OP a half bottle of water was left in the fridge, daily print outs from the previous cruise still in the rack, the sink hadn’t been cleaned, and dried foam on the shower head. Totally unacceptable because all that would lead me to wonder if the bedding had been changed.
  5. Really? On our Hawaiian Princess cruise we had twice a day service for the entire 16 day cruise.
  6. This will be the latest new thrill ride on the ICON, $9.95 per person/per drop.
  7. And here I thought my sister was the only one that did that. I would call her a nut case every time she booked different flights. Apparently she didn't think her brother and sisters could care for her kids properly. That ended when her kids became adults.
  8. Then you don't want to be a small business owner.
  9. I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. Personally I think FCC should be good for 5 years. Not everyone has a job that allows them to take off willy nilly to go on a cruise every year.
  10. Very interesting. That's the second lifeboat incident in 6 months. Back in December Quantum had a lifeboat fall from the ship.
  11. Has anyone had a bad experience using Port Valet in Seattle? I'm think about using them when our Alaskan cruise ends.
  12. Covid is still around but don't wait until something happens and you can no longer travel, tomorrow is guaranteed to no one. Go on a cruise but take precautions such as getting a bivalent booster shot, hand sanitizer, face masks, and sanitizing spray. Those are the precautions we took for our 16-day roundtrip Hawaiian cruise from San Diego this past January. That cruise saw so many Covid cases that the Captain recommended everyone begin wearing face masks and face masks were made available to everyone. There were a lot of Covid cases onboard including the cabin next to us being in quarantine. Even so, we came off the ship Covid free. BTW we are both in our 70's with health issues. My wife and I are going on a Alaskan cruise next month and last week we got our 5th booster shot as a precaution.
  13. Go for an ADA room because, depending on the width of the scooter, it may not fit through the door of a regular cabin.
  14. Yes, kids should have water slides and video arcades. I would never curse my kid to a cruise with mostly old people which is pretty much what Holland and Princess cruises are. On my last cruise there were so many old people that instead of a doctor in the medical center they had an archeologist. 😂
  15. Just my opinion, best for kids would be the NCL Encore. It does Glacier Bay, has plenty of things for kids (go carts, laser tag, VR center) along with the clubs. The ship itself was designed for Alaskan cruising with a great observation lounge. The only drawback is the size of the ship, 4000 passengers. IMO, Glacier Bay is a must see for first time cruisers to Alaska. In Glacier Bay you will cruise passed 6 or 7 glaciers. Holland and Princess ships are great for adults in Alaska but for kids, not so much. Those ships don't even have water slides.
  16. For the most part smoke doesn't bother me. As a kid I used to love the smell of pipe smoke. Cigar smoke is the only smoke I could do without, but I have a live and let live attitude about smokers.
  17. I'm so glad everyone seems to have positive things to say about the Eurodam. We will be cruising on her mid-June. @TriumphGuy we will never cruise with Princess again either because of the lack of seating in a standard balcony cabin. A Princess balcony cabin sleeps two but seats one. 😄 And there is no way I would book one of those infinite balcony cabins they have on the newer ships.
  18. Make your own travel plans, fly in a day early and purchase trip insurance. Don't screw yourself out of a having a great bucket list trip by trying to save money. If you're flying to Seward from Kentucky, there is no way I would book a flight that arrives the same day as the cruse. Also, there have been threads about NCL not really helping when passengers miss the ship due to their air not getting them to the cruise. Personally I would do that trip in the opposite direction.
  19. Because Covid is still around my wife and I get a booster shot right before the cruises we take. Along with the two Moderna shots, we've now had 5 booster shots. So far, so good. We just got our 5th booster last week in anticipation of our upcoming June Alaskan cruise. This past January we took a 16-day round trip from San Diego to Hawaii with Princess and a heck of a lot of people caught covid. The ship had a large number of balcony cabins on deck 12 set aside for quarantine. So many people caught Covid that once those cabins were all filled, they just quarantined passengers in their own cabins. The cabin next door to us ended up being quarantined for the last 5 days of the cruise. I made sure I was not on our balcony when our neighbors were on theirs.
  20. In the morning I like one or two Mimosas, my wife likes Peach Bellinis. In the afternoon I like Mudslides while my wife likes Rum and Coke, sometimes we'll throw in a couple of beers. In the evening it's strictly wine. We like to end our evening with some wine while sitting on our balcony enjoying the weather and fresh air. The fresh air on the balcony is the one reason I will never book a cruise on a Celebrity ship has those Infinite Balconies.
  21. I was getting an oil change on my truck and I thought I'd take a couple of pics of this Ford. I believe it's a 1936 coupe with the rumble seat, but don't hold me to that. It had the V8 engine.
  22. Thank you so much for doing this trip report. We will be on the Eurodam for her June 17th cruise.
  23. I booked the Luminosa for Sep 2024 when it goes back to Australia from Seattle because the price was good. I'm still up in the air about whether or not I should do this cruise because it has so many sea days (17).
  24. I agree with taking a 7 day or longer cruise. Consider the Glory which is also a Conquest Class ship out of NO. Also I wouldn't take a cruise out of NO in March or the summer months when kids are out of school.
