  1. It is how he feels and what he wants to do.

My dad is 80 and in very good shape and he doesn't travel farther than a few miles from home. Grocery store, bank, random errand. He likes to be in his own home , in his own bed , messing around with his own stuff.

He traveled years ago and now he is content at home.

  2. OP,

I love how well everyone posting is doing and how much disposable income they have. Some of us are in the middle life and mid career and don't have the cash that retirees have.

I am also amazed at the amount of cruises some folks go on until I talked to a co-worker. She informed me that many folks work for the travel or airline industry and get substantially reduced fares at for cruises.

This co-worker's husband is an airline mechanic for a major airline. They get fares that those outside of the industry would never qualify for plus they fly standby. She's been on over 25 cruises over the years.

My point is...enjoy your life. If you want to go on a cruise, make it happen. If you have to finance it do so.

  3. Hubby and I loved the spa on NCL Epic. We hated the smoking, the wait for "anytime" dining and the crowds. no deck chairs anywhere. Poor customer service. Hubby refuses to try any other ship on that line.

Loved Celebrity Summit size (lots of deck chairs available), food good, entertainment good, spa was small but enjoyable.will try another Celebrity ship for right price and itinerary.

Can't beat Carnival cruise price and convenience. Ships leave from California to Mexico. salon had friendly staff and services. Comfortable vibe on board. None of the "I'm in the super secret deluxe private king size double better cabin area". that some cruise lines market. Although I hear they are putting in such an area on the new ship Vista.

Trying Princess cause they sail out of California. Reasonable prices although not cheap by any means. Looking forward to trying their spa.

  4. Have you made a selection yet? I would pick the ship and the destination you want to visit and then plan the vow renewal around that.

St Thomas USVI might have some on shore packages and many ships go there. Bahamas probably has tons of renewal package Just pick a resort and go to their webpage.

For what it's worth, we did an onboard 21st vow renewal on Carnival which was very nice. We'll be celebrating 25 anniversary. I just picked a short cruise that I could afford and will buy some cute extras.

    Have fun planning.

  5. Is purchasing the cruise line policy as well as an additional trip insurance policy a waste?

Princess Vacation Protection offers $50,000 emergency evacuation, $20,000 accident, & $20,000 sickness but I hear evacuation from the ship might cost up to $100,000.

So if I purchase another policy (through a 3rd party vendor) that covers up to $100,000 evacuation will I have $150,000 evacuation coverage total?

I am thinking that if I have the Princess coverage then if something happens on board, Princess will already have that insurance info on file and can process it right away without me having to make claims and then if the expenses exceed then I can put in a request with the other insurance.

  6. I found it helpful to show my child where the bathroom was, let them practice cause it will look and sound different than the potty at home; tell them to use it if they wake up in the night time, and let them practice getting there in the dark.

  7.

I don't think I would ever, ever, ever, ever let another woman into my personal space with my husband/ boyfriend.

I don't understand why she/ you didn't just pay the single supplement for her own cabin if her roommate dropped out. Why do YOU have to take her in by getting a bigger room? Where are the other group members and why didn't they help chip in for her room?

As a last resort maybe there is another couple going who are willing to split up so the girls can all room together and the boys can share a cabin? I'm just saying....take care of home first.

Oh, and if she does end up sharing the cabin with you and boyfriend make sure she pays a full 1/3 not just the 3rd person in the cabin fare.

Who among us hasn't left the house to go to work, to the store or visit friends when we have a cold, a slight fever , a cough or been around someone else who was sick such as our kids.

I can't believe how much people are bashing these employees. They had a stressful week at work and then they have mini vacations planned for the week or so after so they take them. They didn't have a fever when they left so they went on their planned vacation. You know how we love our cruises.

That being said...can you imagine the attempt to get your cruise insurance to cover the cost of the cruise.

"No, I'm not sick but I was exposed at work."

    "Do you have ebola?"

"No but I've been ordered to stay home."

"Do you have a note from CDC?"

"No but they said to stay home."

"You need a letter from your doctor or CDC."

"But the cruise is next week and my doctor won't see me."
