  1. I apologize in advance to hijacking this post, but does anyone know if a junior suite guest on Adventure of the Seas gets priority disembarking too? I'm on a waiting list for a grand suite. :(

Nope, while its called a "Junior Suite" they don't really treat it like a suite per se when it comes to this and most other suite type amenities or perks. Its a suite in name only really...... sorry.

  2. Not if they are charging $35 to those with the Premium or Ultimate packages.

Bob, that's why I've been scratching my head on why everyone is so "excited" to attend this event and pay the $35. What exactly does it get you. Sounds like the $35 grants you admission to the Jazz Club for a private event where the same Oasis Jazz Band plays for a couple of hours, a couple of structured games with prizes per se, and maybe some appetizers. If I have an Ultimate drink package, its not worthy of my time to pay an additional $35 to get three "Free" bathtub gin drinks.

  3. It's a simple question yet has been seemingly avoided....

What does the $35 "fee" per person really get you? If you are on a drink package why would someone go to a venue pay $35 for drinks? If the $35 covers food items and entertainment cost then I'll need further details......

  4. It is real as I attended it on the Oasis in Oct. 2015. The "secret" part is you can't get in unless you pay the $35.00 in advance. You will then get certain information in your cabin that gets you into the room. It was held in Jazz on 4 at 1030 PM and lasted about 2 hours. Most attendees wore "Roaring 20s" style clothing.

I forgot where it was listed in cruise planner but fairly certain it was not under shows. Check activities or entertainment.

Thanks but what does the $35 get you? If its drinks why would I pay $35 with an "Ultimate" drink package?

  5. Okay I just need to ask? I suspect the $35 goes to pay for some form of "alcohol" consumption at the actual event. That said why would someone who has the Ultimate Drink Package pay more $$$ to drink the liquor that "may" be served at the event (even the secret event). Inquiring minds want to know.........

  6. I know the policy says no. I know RCI enforces the policy pretty tightly for Caribbean cruises. Are they as strict on Alaskan cruises? I'd like to have a bottle of bourbon in my stateroom so I can have a glass from time to time without going to a bar to get one. It's not about the money, it's about the convenience. I will spend plenty of money at the bars and have no problem doing so.

I posted this on the Alaska board but realized it would be better to post it here.

Yup, they will find it and confiscate it from you.

  7. Expert RCCL Cruisers HELP!

Would it be violating anything on the ship to pack a small container for use on the cruise to obtain some snacks/appetizers to share in the cabin/suite? Sometimes we like to venture up to the Windjammer to look at the food selections. We have often said, "wow, that would be great to enjoy as late afternoon snack in the cabin." Example: Cheese/crackers, sliced fruit, other treats.

TO BE CLEAR WE DO NOT PLAN ON REMOVING FOOD FROM THE SHIP WHEN MAKING A PORT CALL.

    Any thoughts?

  8. Greetings Fellow Cruisers!

Question my wife and I (both 48 years of age in generally good/excellent health) will be traveling on Oasis of the Seas this coming October 1. We will be staying in a Grand Suite and have almost $5000 invested in this trip (cruise, flight etc).

Anyone have thoughts on "trip insurance" coverage through RCCL (they are quoting almost $338 for the coverage plan. Or do you recommend shopping for an alternative insurance coverage plan via the internet through sites such as insuremytrip.com (who provides coverage via reputable carriers (AIG, AXA, Allianz) or direct via a trip insurance coverage carrier? I'm seeing several competitive plans with rates much lower then what RCCL offers on their booking site. Any recommended alternative carriers or insurance coverage booking sites that you recommend?

    Any thoughts?

  9. Anthem

Heard the suite perks on Oasis class are over the top. The new program will include no tips, Free room Service, Butler, Free Mini Bar, Free Wifi, Free Drink Packages and free unlimited up charge restaurants all included. This is how anthem should be. Dont want to be nickle and dimmed after dropping 15-20K on a room already.

The Suite Class services that you describe are dependent upon the "level" of suite class you are in. The levels are Star (upper tier); Sky and Sea. For example don't expect butler service or free drinks/mini bar in the GS level suite class (that's the Star Level) you need to be in a Royal Loft, Owners Loft, Grand Loft or Sky Loft sized suite.

  10. We are leaving for our first Royal Caribbean cruise on Oct 1. We are cruising on Oasis of the Seas to the Eastern Caribbean. Has anyone been on Oasis? And how is it? And has anyone been on this particular journey in early Oct? How is it? Thanks!

Join our Oasis of the Seas 10/1/2016 "Roll Call"! We would love to have you in our group.

  11. So we will on the Navigator for a 8-day trip in May, which has 3 'at sea' days. We plan to add on one of the drink packages for the length of the cruise. One of my favorite enjoyments is to sit on our balcony mid-afternoon, prior to dinner & enjoy a vodka or two. On past cruises I would take a bottle on-board; but I know they are getting more critical of that.

So what's the best way to enjoy a few drinks in your room? Room service is often too slow; drink packages won't let you get multiple drinks & having to leave the room for each drink spools the mood.

Is there another option that I'm not thinking of....without being a smuggler?

    Thx

But doesn't this post suggest that at least at one point in your cruise career you were a "smuggler"?

  12. Could someone who has recently traveled on Oasis of the Seas within the last few months report on the most current per person specialty dining restaurant prices?

Specifically I'm looking for the per person cost for Chops, Giovanni's, and 150 Central Park. I'm aware of the "discount" option buying all three as a package but I'm looking for the per restaurant single cost per person for budgeting purposes.

    Thanks!
