  1. Day 1 it's a bit of a downer going to the buffet. We have been going to Bistro on 5 which is great but on the "first day" it is a little to subdued for me. I'm going to try the Mast Grill for a change......

  2. Without a tender priority it's a long line. With this plan and a tight window I think your setting yourself up for a good dose of stress, problems and disappointment. If this was my choice I would either book a ships excursion or once you finally get off the tender boat book an excursion at the pier. I prefer my own tours too, however, Celebrities excursions are very good as well.

  3. How you make your own disembarkation day is entirely up to you.

#1 don't book an early flight. My advise is to enjoy the last day and not fall into the OMG I've gotta get off "Right Now" trap!!!

#2 leave your luggage to the crew, I mean you paid for the crew to handle your luggage so why be a humper and do it yourself  Your still on vacation.

#3 order the luggage valet program, if the ship offers it don't pass on this, worth every penny. ;)

#4 relax and try not to laugh too loud at the stressed out.

  4. Honestly I don't think the website is slowing Celebrity down too much. Their ships are all full and their stock and profit is at it's all time high. And at this time I really don't see any competitor taking Celebrities market share on the Modern Luxury niche.

No where to go but down? Doubt it and if so not anytime soon. But if they do slip it will not be due to an average cruise website.

  5. Great choice! The Solstice is easily the highest rated ship sailing Alaska, very contemporary and truly follows to companies motto, "Modern Luxury". We love the S Class ships.

This summer will be our 3rd Solstice Alaskan cruise and also the 3rd year for the Solstice in Alaska. One of our favorite cruises of all.

I would also like to comment on the great staff and management team on Solstice.

  6. How about just using common sense? Would you wear shorts and a tank top to go to a nice restaurant for dinner? No where I live and Tucson is pretty casual.

Nice pair of shorts and a T shirt for lunch? Fine either in Tucson or on Celebrity.

Are cruises different? Absolutely. An Alaska cruise or one at holiday times in the Caribbean is less formal than a Med or TA cruise. Completely different group cruising.

After all that Blah Blah Blah.

    What he tried to say.

Shorts are OK for lunch, pants for dinner.

  7. Wine-O, It's good to keep your eye on a new and attainable level/future prize. Yes I agree and would like to see it happen.

1500 points would be a good spot between Elite + and Zenith or even two new levels, 1250 and 2000. Going from 750 points to 3000 without any stops between is just too large.

  8. A year ago my wife told me that compared to Celebrity to please not book future cruises with Princess, she was done sailing with the dated Princess ships.

Overall reason was the older and very dated Princess ships. I would agree with her, the lounges, specialty restaurants, casino, MDR, internet café, theater, sky walkers, room features, pretty much you name it, etc. are beyond dated.

Going to stay away from Princess unless one of their new boats, and I doubt this will happen anytime soon, arrives on the west coast for Alaska.

  9. SHIP: Reflection

    CABIN #:2114

    DECK #: 12

    CLASS: S1

    AREA: FWD/MID

    BED NEAR: Bath

    QUIET?: Yes See Comments

    BALCONY VIEW: Good See Comments

    BALCONY SIZE: Good

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Quiet but room did have it's share of creaking over bed during slight to moderate seas. Balcony view was great but room is located directly under pool deck over hang so for people who want direct sunlight or stars/moon views this is a problem.

  10. I can tell you Celebrity Excursions have stepped it up in a great way. We were in Australia/New Zealand and were so pleased on the quality and depth of the on board excursion.

We are one to go on our way and were blown away and amazed with Celebrity on the quality and depth on their ship board excursions.
