  1. A day at the office on a ship FAR outweighs a day in the office on land, wouldn't you say?

For me, there's something delightfully indulgent about sitting on the pier in Bermuda and running a payroll or balancing the checkbook for my business.

Not me. When I'm on vacation payroll and checkbooks are not my concern. Business is covered and completed.

  2. Hello my fellow Cruise Critic'ers!

My partner and I are thinking about taking a TA next year, however with the time required for it, and the stay in Europe my partner is going to need to get some work done on a few days on this ship (bummer I know...). He needs to "remote" into his office through his laptop and is concerned about the internet speeds.

If you find yourself on vacation and can not live without the internet, the best advice is just stay home.

  3. for those of you that booked on board were you able to book the 123 inclusive deal and get additional obc was wondering if it is worth to wait and book onboard TIA John

No IMO it's not worth booking onboard.

It's better to wait until you get home to book and not to compare pricing while onboard with Celebrity's excessively slow internet and their smoke and mirrors captive promotions.

The additional OBC is factored in on higher pricing which by the way is not quoted on anything in writing onboard and must only be obtained at the time by a onboard Celebrity representative.

Do yourself a favor and pass. The he additional OBC added to your current cruise is not a great deal and you can do much better not booking onboard.

You can do better than in the moment onboard bookings.

  4. Wait. What?

Smoking is NOT allowed in the casino? Are my eyes deceiving me? Someone pinch me!

Our last cruises were on NCL, and we had to hold our breath walking through the casino because of all the smoking. My clothing and hair smelled like smoke after playing the slots for 20 minutes.

I am beyond thrilled to know that I can happily lose my money in the casino without smelling of smoke!!!!!!

    Yay for smoke-free casinos!!!!!!!!!!!

Celebrity has a great Non-Smoking Policy and YES No Smoking in the Casino.

  5. Ok good, I was beginning to think it was isolated. Ncl and ccl are always pleasant to me. I believe maybe it's because they don't earn a commission

On it. Which I know at least carnival reps do...

1-800 Customer Service Reps from Carnival get a commission??

  6. WRONG. On our cruise 3 weeks ago - 9/21-10/5 it said they were not to be used in the Martini Bar on them. So it was correct.

Also not only did they have the dates printed on them, but our names also.

A little sensitive huh, sorry to ruffle your cruise feathers. :D

Kind of a broad statement you made that you can't ever use vouchers in the Martini Bar, like I said that is INCORRECT. We used the vouchers in the Martini Bar for 2 weeks. It was printed on our vouchers, "can not be redeemed in Celler Masters, Michael's or Molecular. Obviously every cruise is different.

  7. As stated above the coupons are only good from 5-7 pm for the date printed on the coupon. They also cannot be used in the Martini Bar or restaurants and there are no coupons the first night (embarkation) and the night of the Senior Officer's Cocktail party.

That's incorrect regarding The Martini Bar.

On our Trans Atlantic last November 2013, printed on the drink vouchers was vouchers can be used in any bar with exception of Cellar Masters, Michael's Club and Molecular Bar.

We enjoyed the Elite Drink Vouchers pretty much every night in the Martini Bar between 5-7 pm. :D

  8. Hi everyone

I think Celebrity looks great for my husband and I and I love the concierge class cabins, but am worried that since my kids are used to characters and water slides that there will not be enough for them to do.

Any recommendations about whether Celebrity is a good cruise line for a family and what are the best family ships.

You pretty much answered your own question. Celebrity is "great" for you and your husband, for kids it's average, not terrible, just average. There are no slides or characters on Celebrity. Kids prefer Disney, NCL, Carnival, RCL......Parents prefer Celebrity.

  9. In the last few months, I have been on two different Celebrity ships/cruises as an elite member. Both times my non elite cabin mate DID get the three free drink coupons in one case, or access to the elite lounge in the other.

Love it. With your Celebrity profile guests who travel with you get almost anything. roundel_zps0a0c937a.gif

  10. It's not fair to blame the customers for poor service. They should not have to complain to get good service. Waiting for 45 minutes between lunch apps and entrees is unreasonable, and means that Celebrity staff are doing something wrong.

    That is flawed.

What is "fair", about not communicating in allowing someone to improve on one's performance?

Not being fair is, "NOT COMPLAINING", to management and then going on an open forum like Cruise Critic just to blame. Nothing get's accomplished or improved. Communicate, it's not a perfect world.

  11. My wife put me in charge of obsessing about our Cruise Nov 1 on the Silhouette from Rome. The stops are Florence/Pisa ,Provence Barcelona ,Palma de Majorca, and Tenerife in the Canary Islands .

    My questions are :

When to book choice air- is sooner better?

How is Celebrity's trip from Rome airport to ship on day of cruise?

Are the ports on this cruise tendered and or close to the towns?

How cold/warm is the Atlantic crossing in early November?

Any insight on this will be greatly appreciated.

We did this TA last year in November on Reflection, Rome to Miami. It was a great experience, wonderful trip and Celebrity really rolled out the service.

    1) Last year we booked Choice Air Phoenix to Rome only 4 weeks out and got a Really Good price at $550pp so don't really think it matters how early you book your flight.

    2) Would recommend coming into Rome a day before your embarkation.

    3) This cruise takes the Southern route and it was very smooth all the way over to Miami.

    4) Surprisingly warm, would have liked it a bit cooler.

    5) Enjoy, you picked a great cruise.

  12. Good catch. The Oap hasn't returned since their original post. Never indicated that they appreciated the comments or discuss their plans. Doubt if we'll hear from them again so further posting is unnecessary.

Has it ever mattered here on Cruise Critic if posting is necessary or not?

People do what they please, it's certainly not up to you.
