My friend bought a small steamer on board our first cruise together on Majesty. She packed it in her checked luggage and it got thru. When she pulled it out in the room, I told her she got lucky. She has since brought it on 2 IOS cruises in her checked luggage and it's not been confiscated. She now believes it's fine. :(

Just off IOS last week. When I looked out in the morning (around 8), I saw plenty of people already heading to customs. They were walking, no line. Only ship at Terminal 25.

I think the 70's party is fun for the first few times. Some cruise staff seem to be more energetic about putting on "the show" than others. But I have to say that after seeing a half a dozen of these I crave for RCL to recreate these or change them up. It's like groundhog's day with the show. I don't even go anymore, but like I was saying at the beginning, lots of fun for new people.

I guess I'm in for a great time since this will be my first one!

Like someone else said, just keep checking the site. I booked an ocean view in Jan and was able to upgrade to a balcony today for $21 and change. Cruise is next week. You will have to call and ask them to price the upgrade. Good luck!

Yeah they have a 70's/disco night every cruise - it's a signature Royal Caribbean event. Lots of fun - the cruise director staff dress up in disco outfits and you have the "Village People" as well. Great fun.
Thank you! This is my first RC cruise (only been on NCL). Looking forward to the party!

Hi,
I saw a post that included a picture from a 70's party on the Thanksgiving cruise. I believe the poster was "MattfromFL" or something very similar! I was wondering if someone knew if this party was on every cruise or was it something fun for the holiday. I'll be on next week and would love to join in. Thanks!

I was one of the people posting on that revived thread. This video is great too. Can't believe you do all of that just for fun. Hopefully you get some business. Great work!

I loved it! This would possibly appeal to a demographic of younger cruises. The only small thing I didn't like were all the scenes in the hallway. It's too brown! So much color and bright light on a ship. I'm sure the next one will be even better. My favorite was when 4 of you popped out from under the covers and the 5th guy was on the floor. I really did LOL! Great job.

This isn't my first cruise, but it's my first excursion. The time on RC website says 9am. Is that the time we meet on the ship? Is that the time we should be off the ship and meeting with the tour operator? Thanks. (We're doing the ATV excursion thru RC in Cozumel) The trip itself says 4 hours so I was wondering what time we should be back to the ship. I'm hoping to get an hour or so in of port shopping.

Not sure who is unhappy with Paradise Beach - we love it; great facilities, good service, HUGE pool, nice beach and water toys for an extra fee.
Easy enough to grab a taxi at PB - about $17 will get you back to the pier (there are 3 different piers on Coz - be sure you know which one); fare covers up to 4 passengers in the cab.
I may be wrong about the beach. The excursion doesn't state what beach you go to after riding the ATV's. I saw a review where someone mentioned San Francisco beach which I thought was now Paradise Beach. I called RCCL this morning and the person was unable to tell me exactly what beach it is. I was reading the reviews for this trip on the Carnival site and many people didn't like the beach you went to after....too rocky, too many people selling stuff, having to pay for chairs/umbrellas, pricey food to name a few. Thanks for the info about the cab!

My travel mate wants to do the ATV excursion and I'd rather shop. From reading different sites / reviews, I believe it's Paradise Beach you go to after you ride the ATV's. A lot of people weren't happy with the beach portion so I was wondering if we would be able to catch a cab back to the ship instead of staying with the group? Is that feasible? We're on RCCL and the time on the website is 9. Is that the time you leave the ship? Thanks!

Hell you can bring a bottle of white or rose down early and have them chill it for you if you want.

Whaaaaat?! I had no idea. I guess I've always been caught up in my own thing that I never even noticed people carrying bottles of wine. This will be perfect. Thank you!

Most ships charge a 'corkage' fee to bring a bottle in the dinning room - now is that 'Always' followed?? What we do is get a stemmed water glass and pour a Full glass and bring that in the dinning room. Never have had an issue

Royal no longer charges corkage fees or I wouldn't even bother.

I'm thinking about taking the allotted 2 bottles of wine on my RCCL cruise next month for the first time. Do I just carry the bottle from the room to the dining room? Is there something for sale somewhere that will look a little more classy? I would feel weird just carrying a bottle all around the ship! (I posted here since it seems like a generic question) Thanks!

You'll love Cozumel. They average high in December is 82, great beach weather. And the sun is very strong in the tropics so 82 will feel very hot trust me :)
That's what I was wondering - if maybe a tropic heat would feel warmer. Kind of like humidity vs non-humidity. Thank you!

We did Nachi 5 years ago in December and we are doing it again on our upcoming trip. The weather was perfect last time and we are expecting more of the same this time. I live in south florida too so i get what you are saying, but don't worry about it. Cozumel in December is beautiful.
Glad you got me! Thanks for the reply. I'm going to give it a go for sure.

YouTube has a ton of vids on sanchos.
It's very hot in coz in december
You're right! Lol Tons of videos. I'm going with Sanchos. Thank you!

I live in S. Florida so I should clearly know the answer to this, but I don't. I'm probably overthinking. I checked a weather site and last year in Cozumel the high temp was 77 on the day I'll be there. Now, I wouldn't plan to spend a day at the beach in Miami if it was only 77 so I'm not sure if I should book Mr. Sanchos. I'm sure there's an indoor area in case of rain or not hot, but I didn't see any pics on the website. Any advice? Thanks!

Not private' date=' I agree but one doesn't feel obliged to talk to one's neighbours, not like sharing a table. It is all in the mind.[/quote']
That's perfect. I saw a post from a woman who was unhappy with how long it took her table to get through a meal. I certainly don't want to hold anybody up and dont want to feel like we're being rushed.Thank you!

I'll be celebrating my friends 50th birthday and this will be my first cruise with just 2 people. We're married with kids and only see each other once a year so there is plenty to talk about. We are mainly looking forward to long meals without interruptions. I saw on another site that it can be hard to get a table for 2. Is this true? We're not against mingling but would rather spend meal time talking and laughing about our personal lives. Is this a request that can be made in advance? Thanks!
-
Yep, you're crazy! Lol What's so special/different/important about this new cruise?
-
I think they'll be fine especially with the time of year you're going because they'll be lots of young people on board. If they're pretty social, they'll make friends and have things to do all week. Combine that with the time spent in ports and they're going to have a very enjoyable time! Congrats to you and your son on his graduation!

That is awesome! Now the OP will have a happy wife again!

If I want to shop at the port, I won't pick an excursion that keeps me away all day if there are 5+ ships there. I wouldn't have enough time. I'm still a fairly new cruiser (5) so I still like all the cheap souvenirs!
