  2. Great review! I'm from Pittsburgh originally too, Penn Hills. Can't wait for more!
  3. So glad it got worked out in your favor. Off topic - That's a great profile pic of you and your husband. He has that "take it easy, it will all work out" look that you described!
  4. Love this review! It has the perfect amount of info. That's a great pic of you two and your glasses are fab!
  5. I would pick January and put that $1500 towards another cruise! Bring pants and a jacket because it's often chilly (60°) here in January.
  6. Thanks for the update. I can't imagine being on a cruise without luggage. I know you have to make the best of it, but it has to be such a headache. Here's hoping Wednesday is their lucky day! Are they having a good time despite all of this?
  7. I'm in Hollywood, FL and I just started hearing slight thunder. Still sitting outside, not even a drop of rain yet. **ok...now it's starting to rain
  8. That is so darn clever! Lol I wish we would have thought of something like that!
  9. So I don't have any experience cruising with a toddler but I do cruising with an early-to-bed/early to rise 8-yr-old. On our first family cruise, I knew we wouldn't be doing the late night shows together since she's sleep by 8:30 at home, but I was floored the night she fell asleep at 7pm in the Windjammer! And we had an inside cabin 😥. So I chose to let my husband roam the ship since it was his first cruise and I went to bed with her. I wasn't happy at all, but it wasn't her fault. Between the kids club and water slides all day, she was exhausted. I say all this to say if you are looking for some time to just be a couple, I would try to leave the baby home. If you're fine with doing things separate when the baby is sleep then you'll be fine. We had a great time but are just doing things differently next year. We have a balcony cabin so she can sleep early if she wants and one of us won't have to sit in a dark, inside cabin at 7:30 with nothing to do! I hope you have a great time either way.
  10. Glad to hear you had an amazing first cruise - Hope Alaska is just as great!
  11. Just wow to that cliff jump! That picture is amazing. Hats off to your MIL. She must be quite the adventurous type! I'm nervous just looking at it! So nice to hear your family had such an amazing time!
  12. The wings in Playmakers are VERY good. It's probably about a 15-20 minute wait for them, but it's worth it. If it was a land-based restaurant, we would totally go for the wings.
  13. I was on Independence for Thanksgiving so lots of kids. My daughter is 8 and AO was never crowded during the day. It seemed that most kids were at the pools and the slides. It was busier at night for sure but the latest I picked her up was probably 9 and there was never anywhere near 50 kids in there.
  14. Aw man, I wish I had known that! I get so tired of the Windjammer even when it's not crowded. We went to Playmakers for a bit every day but never before 12. Thanks for that info!
  15. The Compass lists their hours as 11am - midnight.
  16. Thanksgiving was just the 4-day. Not sure if that differs from yours. The ice show was Day 2 at 12:30 & 2:30 and Day 4 at 3 & 5. Grease was Day 2 at 6 & 9. Michael Grimm (Americas got talent) was Day 3 at 7:30 & 9:15. Comedian Gary Caouette Day 4 at 7:45 (part of Farewell show. I thought he was funny) & 11.
  17. Yes, used it to board Independence. We had 2 people comment on our pictures because we took them at home. I guess many people aren't doing that yet.
  18. Just wanted to give my 2 cents regarding post-refurb Indy. I was concerned about the reviews saying it now felt crowded, but I don't agree at all. People seemed to spread out just as much as before. There were obviously LOTS of families and kids on board so the pool area was busy but we always had a seat. Never an issue finding seating in the Windjammer. Playmakers has awesome wings! It's a really fun, well-done place. There was a moment where I had just about forgot I was on a ship. It really feels like you're in your hometown sports bar. Fish 'n Ships is good. They're both a little slow with getting food but I had no where else to be. Chops was excellent. I wished we could have eaten there every night. I found the food in the Windjammer to be mediocre. It always looks better than it is. The MDR was good. My only criticism of the cruise was the pumpkin pie. It was terrible! Lol It tasted like hard boiled eggs. We overheard people talking about it with their wait staff at breakfast the next day. We just couldn't imagine what went wrong with such an easy dessert. I love how that is my only complaint! Christmas decorations went up Friday night into Saturday afternoon. My 8-yr-old enjoyed the kids club when there. Loved Indy before the refurbishment and even more after!
  19. Oh, ok. I had no idea it worked like that. It was a nice surprise! Thank you!
  20. I was just wondering why that happens. On the Thanksgiving cruise on Indy, I checked on our balance and guest services said we had a negative balance due to some of the port charges being refunded. I asked why and she said we were just overcharged. Why does that occur? Do port charges fluctuate? We went on to spend it so they got it back anyway! (And it was just to Cozumel so we didn't miss a port) Thanks for any info.
  21. Just off Indy and departure day offerings were Windjammer 5:30-8:30, Cafe Promenade 5:30-9:00 and Dining Room 7-8:30.
  22. I really appreciate you coming back to report that! That wait time seems quite reasonable. I hope you all had a fantastic cruise!
  23. "Bit of an exhibitionist?" I think she promotes no body shaming for large people. I didn't know she also took off her clothes.
