  1. The point that MUST be remembered is when an emergency occurs go to your MUSTER STATION, not the lifeboat, UNLESS IT IS YOUR MUSTER STATION. If you don't go where you're supposed to, you make the crew have to search for you, endangering others.

Also, as an ex Naval Officer, lifeboats are needed only if you have to abandon a sinking ship. Most emergencies you could be mustered for would be fire or something like that. Speaking from experience, I've never had to abandon ship, but I've had to fight several fires.

  2. We're sailing in a suite and looking for ways to make the most of it :D

We'll have our 20, 16 & 14 year old kids and I'm sure they will think it's a blast having a butler! Hopefully they don't expect the same service when we get home.

We're in a 2 bedroom family suite and have already thought about having breakfast delivered a few mornings.

20 year old son was hoping there's a fancier coffee machine in the room so he can make himself an espresso, is that an option? I'm an Earl Grey tea drinker so hope they have that.

Any other snacks or items we should ask for? Any other recommendations appreciated.

Remember your butler is also butler to quite a few other suites. He may not be available every time you want something. Also the more you have them do, the more you should tip.

  3. In my opinion, nothing. I've been on 50+ cruises and hundreds of ports and Tortola rates near the bottom of the list. It's almost like Nassau, hardly worth getting off the ship.

It's near the bottom of mine, just above Routan, which is horrible.

  4. The phone number to Upsell is 1.800.625.4309

It does make a difference that you booked with a travel agent.

From what I understand all dealings regarding your booking have to go through your TA to NCL.

    Mark

That is correct. Our last cruise was through a TA and we had to contact them to make ANY changes. We probably won't do that again.

  5. I assumed NCL's "freestyle" pertained to no more fixed dining times in the MDR, just show up, but was not pertaining to the specialty dining reservation system.

You should make reservations, but if your in a suite/Haven the concierge will help with reservations. On the large ship they have a Haven restaurant that is only for suite/Haven passengers that is real easy to get reservations for.

  6. As a solo sailor, I was planning on using my Platinum Latitudes benefit to get four free meals, two in Cagney's and two in La Cucina on my Mexican Riviera cruise in April. (This is based on the "dinner for two" principle and my only being "one".) It sounds like I'm going to have to get everything booked the exact moment I board the ship or I'll be screwed along with everyone else. I hope the Cruise Next manager will be at her work station when I board. As with so much with NCL anymore, it's two steps forward and one step back.

It's now one Cagneys/Le Bistro and one La Cucina/Moderno per STATEROOM. Not sure if a solo gets four separate meals.

  7. I bought CruiseNext deposits on Breakaway two weeks ago and was told I had to book the cruises within four years, but the actual cruise could be at a later time.

The cruise next is used once you book. The point where you could have an issue is if you cancel or change the cruise after the cruise next expires. At that point you would lose it.

  8. I am trying to make a partial payment for our 2018 .... the online payment seems to only give me the option to pay in full.

Is there a way around this?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Log into my NCL,

    Select make payment.

    Select other amount.

    Pay what you want.

I just did it it works.

But did you book from a TA or direct from NCL?

    That could be different.

  9. We are returning to Miami on the Pearl on April 3rd. AA just changed our flight time to 9:30 am. Do we stand any chance of making our flight?

You need to contact American and tell them that doesn't work. It's their change so they have to fit you to what works for you. I had an airline change a flight we were on from Paris CDG to Paris Orly, only the only flight we could get to Paris from Barcelona was to CDG. When I explained the situation, they changed us to a flight leaving CDG five minutes before our originally scheduled flight. They took your money for the flight already, so they have to meet your timetable not theirs.

  10. not just elderly

    • 29 million people in the United States (9.3 percent) have diabetes.
    • 1.7 million people aged 20 years or older were newly diagnosed with diabetes in 2012.
    • Non-Hispanic black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native adults are about twice as likely to have diagnosed diabetes as non-Hispanic white adults.
    • 208,000 people younger than 20 years have been diagnosed with diabetes (type 1 or type 2).
    • 86 million adults aged 20 years and older have prediabetes.
    • The percentage of U.S. adults with prediabetes is similar for non-Hispanic whites (35 percent), non-Hispanic blacks (39 percent), and Hispanics (38 percent).

The problem is alcohol is worse for diabetes than the sugar. The combination of alcohol and sugar for a diabetic can really throw their blood glucose off.

  11. While onboard our 1st NCL cruise in August /16 we purchased 2 CruiseNext Deposits. We have applied one toward the Bliss. The other one remaining in our account "expires" in 2020. Are we able to use that toward a cruise after 2020 as long as we book it before date of expiry. I'm asking because I'll be 40 in 2021. Was thinking to use it toward a cruise that year. There is nothing on the terms/conditions page other than we have 4 years to use it. I'll have used it...having applied it to a cruise, just the cruise is after the fact. Help appreciated. Thanks.

I suggest you call NCL reservations. Ask them the answer AND have them send you an email on how it can be used. It's better than the hearsay answers you'll get here.
