It's time to thin the heard. If you fall overboard, you don't deserve to be rescued.

Just got off the Freedom of the Seas 1/5/2014, it was the same menu we had last Christmas and on the Allure in June. It's very good
-
Freedom went to San Juan a couple of times in December also. I guess they mix it up once in awhile

I'm going to have on a bathing suit (not a speedo) and tee shirt, my wife and daughter will have on cover ups, is that acceptable at the more upscale restaurants. We normally just spend a day at the beach, rent lounge chairs and an umbrella, but we don't want to eat in the sand again, we'd rather have a sit down meal. That lobster from Antoine's looks amazing.

Grilled lobster or other seafood, good burgers also. Doesn't necessarily have to be on the beach

Does anyone have any suggestions for lunch in Philipsburg

I just got off Freedom yesterday, I had the premium package. I got on the ship before 11:30 am and had 3 or 4 drinks before our departure. Not once was I charged tax, I did have to sign a slip with a zero total for each drink. If you add a tip to the charge it goes into a pool and equally divided between all the bar staff. So cash is king when it comes to tipping. I believe the way RCL does the tipping for the drink package is they take 15% of the $55 dollars, so roughly $7.50 per day, and throw it into a pot. Then that is divided between all the bar staff. I signed a slip after I bought each drink, except for dinner, there I signed only 1 slip. It didn't matter if I had 1 drink or 5. I didn't find out about pooling the tips until the 5th day of the cruise, so when I go on my next cruise in march I'll be bringing more small bills for tipping. I thought the overall level of the bar service on the entire ship has declined, but I don't think it has to do with the drink package. I think that royal reduced the number of bar servers and has increased everyone's workload, the reason I say that is it just didn't seem like there were as many servers around the pool as on past cruises. They also no longer have the nightly shooter after dinner and that was were I made out with the drink package. I could still order a shooter if I wanted one, but it's much easier to just grab it off the tray as they walk by. I really don't think your treated any differently if you have the package or not.

There is a
Country Inn and Suites
9009 Astronaut Blvd, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
(321) 784-8500
Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach
8959 Astronaut Blvd, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
(321) 323-1100
Radisson Resort at the Port
8701 Astronaut Blvd, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
(321) 784-0000
These 3 places are all right next to each and less than a five minute drive to the port. I wouldn't recommend the Ramada in Ft Lauderdale, it would be about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive

There are plenty of hotels near the port. Define cheap.

Thank you very much

Does anyone know the email address of the dining room staff on the Freedom of the Seas. My family and I are traveling with another family this weekend on Freedom. Our reservations were linked and we both had traditional dining, so we should have been seated together. This week we noticed that their reservation has changed to MTD. Because of the holiday no one is at RCI to help with this. I know I can wait until we board, but I was wondering if I could email the ship and see if I could get this worked out before hand. Thanks

My wife and I have always booked two connecting balconies. The price difference you pay is not all that much different than having 4 in 1 room. RCL will let you book a balcony and the kids in a inside room as long as it is directly across the hall. That option will save you more money than 2 balconies. Having the extra bath is priceless.
-
If you look at the prices, you can get a JS and an inside cabin for about the same price as a JS with the four of you in it. The cost of the two extra people, in any suite, is pretty much the same price as an inside cabin for 2. The cost of an extra bath....priceless

The aft balcony on freedom will be much larger (wider and deeper) than the hump on oasis.
-
I just tape a luggage tag to a 12 pack of coke and give it to the porters. I figure if it's doesn't show up in my cabin I'm only out a few bucks, and it has never not shown up. As for it being against the rules, I leave it up to the porters to know what is allowed and what isn't.

Royal Caribbean Oasis and Freedom class ships don't have a water slides, but they have an H2O zone, which is like a kids water park. They also have flowriders, which are surfing simulators, you can do boogie boarding on them also.

How prepared is your ship if you fall overboard?

An employee jumping is not the same thing as an idiot passenger falling overboard. I still have no sympathy for someone who just falls overboard because they get drunk or are acting like idiots.
