  1. If you go on youtube.com and search "Celebrity Equinox balcony" you can see basically what your cabin will look like. All balconies (except accessible) look pretty much the same. The main difference will be if the sofa if by the closet or balcony (they alternate generally as you go down the hall)

  2. We've been on both Silhouette and Freedom. Have to agree with everything Micmacmissy said above. We really enjoyed both cruises. We LOVE the Celebrity Solstice class ships, but enjoyed the Freedom as well. The ship is easy to get around and never felt crowded. There were times we were practically alone in the Promenade which was surprising. What we liked a bit more than Silhouette, the entertainment options and variety of bars/lounges. We liked there were more choices in the evening like the Schooner Bar, Champagne Bar, Viking Crown(not sure that is still open to all) and the shows in the theater and the Ice Show. Loved Johnny Rockets for a burger.

The buffet is MUCH better on Celebrity but we never went hungry and there are plenty of options. The Cafe Promenade has great sandwiches and snacks.

Freedom was a fun change for us and we would be happy to sail on her again.

Also, and I don't know if this is important to you, but Coco Cay can be chilly or even skipped that time of year.

Whatever you decide you can't go wrong, IMO. Hope you have a great time:)

  3. Just wanted to say I LOVE reading your reviews! We went to Coki Beach in St. Thomas on our last cruise thanks to you:D Loved it and didn't want to leave!

Your daughter is adorable:) If you ever get to the Bronx Zoo here in NY, the peacocks walk around "free" and come right up to you. My boys always get a kick out of that.

Hoping to get to try a NCL cruise one day soon after reading all your wonderful reviews. Thanks for all the work you put into these!

Oh and btw, the video from the snorkel mask is really great quality in my opinion. Pretty awesome!

  4. We usually eat in the MDR 2-3 times a cruise and in the buffet or specialty restaurant the other nights. If you do not have the same wait staff every night in "select" you do not need to tip extra. If you would like to, I would hand it to the waiter(yes you will have a waiter and assistant) as you thank them at the end. We have done this before. I have never seen anyone leave money on a table and I would be worried it would not end up with the correct person.

In the buffet, we usually tip the person who brings us drinks from the bar, whether its coffee and OJ or water, wine, etc. We give a dollar or two per beverage. I have never seen anyone tip the staff clearing tables etc. but I am sure if you wanted to hand them a tip at the end (or to someone who goes out of their way with a special request) they would be appreciative. I would not leave money on a table though. There are many people coming and going at all times. We have never felt anyone has expected a tip and always receive excellent service.

  5. We've been on the Reflection twice and love it. Last time we had our two boys who were 17 and 11 at the time and my 9 year old nephew. The two younger boys did a few activities at the Fun Factory during the week. They enjoyed the scavenger hunt and gaga ball, I remember. They had no complaints about being there but it really isn't my kids thing. I did post the daily activities schedules for the different age groups after we returned. If you put in the search box "fun factory dailies Reflection" the posts with the pdf files will come up and you could get an idea of the activities. I will say the staff are very nice always and its very organized. It also was never too crowded in our experience. Hope that helps a bit.

This is the real brewed iced tea in Cafe al Baccio. Its excellent and you can ask for it in a "to go" cup. There are at least 3 or 4 types to choose from. There is no real iced tea in MDR or specialty restaurants, unfortunately. If you are in Aqua Class cabin, however, they provide a carafe of fresh brewed iced tea each day. I just asked to only get regular black or green iced since they also gave herbal some days and I don't care for it. At least last time we were in aqua class that was the case.

The lack of "real" iced tea on ships is always my only real "complaint" to the cruise line when we fill out the survey at the end:D

  7. I have "downgraded" from Classic Alcohol to Premium Non-Alcohol. The non alcoholic beverages are not all covered by the Classic Alcohol package. Drinks like Pellegrino or Perrier are not included, for example. Aside from an occasional glass of wine, I am not much of a drinker. We do like Pellegrino with our meals, etc. So I called Celebrity prior to our February cruise to inquire about switching my package to PNA and upgrade my husbands to Premium Alcohol Package. It took a while to sort out and they were not ready for such a request. They ended up charging me about $36 total to "downgrade" but at that point I just wanted it settled. Next time, however, I would just inquire on the ship and take care of it then, since I don't think I should have been charged.

Its best to do a search for the list of beverage packages and make your decision based on the offerings, but I'd wait to do it on the ship;)

  8. Bed should be closer to bathroom/closet. You can tell by looking at the deck plan. The cabins with a black square hold a third person and they always have the bed by the bathroom/closet. After that you just look down the deck plan and they will alternate..bed by balcony, bed by bath, etc. I have always used this method to figure out my cabin configuration.

  9. I "downgraded" our last cruise from the Classic Alcohol to the Premium Non-Alcohlic package. We usually buy that package because we drink a lot of sparking water, bottled water, coffee and tea. I did this before the cruise by calling Celebrity directly since I was upgrading my husband to the Premium alcohol package. It turned out to be a bit time consuming because they did not know how to handle the "downgrade". They ended up charging me something like $37 to downgrade from the free/included package I had. I just paid the fee to get the whole thing over with and because I did not pay for the package I already had. However, next time I would take my chances and just try on the ship. Have heard people have mixed results but I think if you persist it should not be a problem.

  10. I'll be in this stateroom on Indy in December. I've heard that the tinted glass causes a distraction/interferes with the view of the ocean when seated.

    Did you have this issue?

    TIA.

We were in 9564 on Freedom back in Aug. 2014. We loved the cabin and its location. The ONLY thing we did not like was the tinted glass on the balcony. When you were sitting down you really only see yourself in the reflection. Normally, on Celebrity ships we spend a lot of time on our balcony but did not use it as much because the tinted glass on Freedom. Had we known, I would've picked a different cabin. I believe only the few under the hot tubs have this but someone else may know better. Not a deal breaker but found it annoying. Btw..we had one lounger, one chair and one chair with footrest and a small, low table in case it matters. The balcony is very spacious.

  11. The Fun Factory on Reflection is open every day of the cruise, including port days, at least in our experience. I had posted the Fun Factory Daily schedules after our February cruise. If you put in the search above "Fun Factory Dailies Reflection" the thread will come up. It could give you an idea of the types of activities they offer.

Our first cruise was over Thanksgiving on the Eclipse and we loved it (did not have our kids but there were plenty on the cruise as it was the American Girl cruise-LOL) It was great though and the number of kids was no issue.

Have fun whatever you decide. We love the Relection:)
