  1. There are signs which clearly state you can't take food off of the ship. Sure, you can be an ignorant jerk and sneak it of, possibly endangering the local ecosystem in order to save a couple bucks, but most choose not to bend the rules, and support the local economy.

Something told me that you'd be the type to resort to name calling when your authority was questioned.

  2. It's against the law in the Bahamas to bring unpackaged food off of the ship.

Thank ya there Cliffy . . . and you got your Bahamian law degree where?

To the OP: pm me before you go. If you take a sandwich off of the boat and are locked up for it, I will personally fly down there to defend you. I actually am an attorney.

  3. We've been to Nassau several times, and while it may not be the favorite of some, there are plenty of things to do.

There is a self walking tour that you visit the Queen's staircase and the Supreme Court as well as several other attractions that is completely free. A quick internet search will give you all need to know in that regard.

We did the pirate museum and enjoyed it. Its a little overpriced for what you get, though.

Our favorite thing to do is simply take a right once you get out of the market and head west to Junkanoo beach. Bring some towels and just enjoy a day there. If money is a huge deal, pack a sandwich and bottle of water before you leave the ship.

You can also get some pretty good local seafood from the vendors near the beach. Its not really expensive. Just past Junkanoo beach is the Fish Fry. Lots of good food there for about the same as the beachside vendors.

I've always felt that your vacation can be as good or bad as you want to make it. Hope you have a great cruise.

  4. We like Freeport and hope we do get to make it there next week. Plenty to see and do there. But like most ports in The Bahamas and Caribbean, you have to get away from the lame port area. Beautiful beaches, great restaurants, resorts, a national forest and on and on and on.

I'm with you! We have been to Freeport several times and have really enjoyed it.

  5. It is, most certainly. It has zero to do with preventing folks from being over served. The staff can do that themselves.

The silly thing is that on RCI, I have no idea how often I have more or less than 15. I don't need to count. I'd wager many days on RCI are probably less than 15. But since CCL throws a number out there, I chafe at being restricted.

This is similar to my thought on the matter, but I think they may actually be costing themselves money by placing the cap.

With the 15 drink cap, I feel obligated to ensure that everyone has used up their daily allotment which is a stretch some days. With no cap, I'd certainly drink less than 15 on most days.

  6.

Second, that picture of the guy sitting on the rail with his legs dangling over is shocking and terrifying. If I had seen that I would have reported it to security myself.

Although I don't vouch for the intelligence of the gentleman in the pic, the photo is somewhat misleading.

If you look closely, you will see that the guy is sitting on the rail for the stairway which is about a foot or two inside the outer rail of the ship.

  7. My family and I sailed Fascination in January of this year out of Jacksonville. I had no problem with the ship itself, but thought that the food was mediocre at best.

I'm generally not too difficult to please, but by the second evening of our cruise I felt like I couldn't eat another bite from their kitchen. It reminded me of what you would expect from a Golden Corral.

This is just my opinion, and I don't mean it as a personal affront to those of you who like the food on the Fascination.

  8. We are on the valor right now in a grand suite. I'm sure you will love your captains suite!!!!! Go on you tube, they have video of the captain suite on valor. Enjoy the valor is a beautiful ship!

I read that you can hook up a VCR via RCA cables in the suites. I need to find out if there are places in the TV to hook up a HDMI cable for Apple TV.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  9. I found this on the carnival website:

    Restrictions:

Must be 21 or older to purchase and agree to not give to minors.

Each adult (21 and over) assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program.

Guest must purchase the program for the entire cruise.

Only one drink at a time may be ordered, and sharing is not allowed.

There is a 5 minutes wait time between ordering drinks.

Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hours period (6am-6am). After the limit is reached, guest will not be served any additional alcoholic drinks.

Guests sailing from New York and Galveston will not be able to activate the CHEERS! program until Day 2.

  10. APDMOM, we are sailing on the Fascination January 2, 2016 out of jax. We would reallly appreciate it if you could get some pics of us leaving.

We will be in the first jr suite forward of the lifeboats on the Starboard side. Anything that you could do would be appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

  11. I was told by two different carnival employees that with the cheers program, the system locks them out from serving a drink to you. So, unsure if they can actually sell you one after 15. That is why people buy them prior to 15 as once they hit the number the system locks them out.

That's correct. They can't even sell you one after your 15th program drink.

  12. kinda proves my point that its against the rules but some ships allow it. thank you

I was just messin' with ya. According to the rule that you posted, I believe that you are absolutely correct.

I would bet that there is an unwritten rule among the bar staff that if a passenger isn't acting intoxicated or obnoxious they are allowed to sell drinks to them prior to their 15th program drink.

  13. sure it does... it states UP TO 15 drinks... thats all you are allowed

No, it states that the program allows for a max of 15 drinks. I am an attorney (cue the lawyer comments) and review contracts on a daily basis. I interpret the rule saying that you can have 15 program drinks per day and will be cut off thereafter.

You say that some ships have looked the other way and some ships have not. Do you have any personal experience of this? If not, what is the basis for your comment to that effect.

  14. you can purchase drinks for your friends (see the other bullet) and one will hit your cheers account.

    it also says

Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks

not 14 and then purchase 15 more before hitting your 15th.

its not allowed according to the rules. some ships have looked the other way to allow you to purchase them. some have not

no where does it say you can purchase your drinks

Nowhere does it that that you can't, either.

  15. for the exact verbiage, here is the rules per Carnival

    • Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! program and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest’s Sail and Sign account.
    • Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served ANY additional alcoholic drinks.

I read that verbiage to say you may purchase drinks prior to consuming your 15th within the program. Once you get your 15th program drink, you may not even purchase them which would be consistent with my prior understanding.
