1. Now that made me laugh.

I am curious though. If in fact they do cut you off after 15 drinks if you have the cheers card even if you want to pay for extra drinks, do they have a 15 drink limit for the ones who do not purchase a cheers card?

There's no limit outside of the Cheers program. If there were, then someone like me who buys rounds for the family of five would only be able to get three drinks a day.

  2. I don't think anything changed. I think they 'let' you buy what you wanted even though it was against the rules. I think sometimes you will get away with this and sometimes its not but its never been allowed according to the rules

Interesting. Thank you for the response.

  3. On my last cruise in January of this year, if you purchased drinks it did not count toward your 15 drink max on the Cheers program. (and please spare me the posts about how you don't understand how ANYBODY could drink more than 15 drinks in a day. You're not my mom/dad, and its my liver.)

In other words, you could keep track of how many that you had on your cheers program and once you hit 14 you could purchase as many as you desired and use the Cheers program for your last drink of the day. Has this changed?

It seems like I read a post that you are limited to 15 whether you purchase them or use the program. Thanks in advance.

  4. There seems to have been a disagreement as to whether the Cheers Program is taxed when purchased while in port.

We just got back from a sail on the Sensation out of Port Canaveral, and the amount that you spend on the Cheers Program itself is not taxed, however you are charged sales tax on the cost of any beverage that you get while there.

For instance, while still at the dock I ordered a Patron marguarita which is just shy of $10.00 and was charged something like .80 on my card. Once out of port, I ordered the same drink and the slip said 0.00.

Hope this clears some things up.

  5. Hi there can some tell me which terminal the carnival sensation uses in this port

    Thanks

As others have stated it will be either 5 or 6 depending on what other ship is in at the time.

We will be arriving at the port in about 24 short hours for our 4 day Sensation cruise. Can't wait!

  6. .

getupgoHard to believe changed so quickly in 1 month. We had our time dining in Fantasy and all the food was well seasoned and service was great. Cabin steward was excellent. The buffet area was well run with tables cleared quickly. Wonder what happened?

Like I said I think the Golden Corral Buffet is good food so you know if I complain it was not that impressive. The Fantasy and the Sensation are 2 separate ships and the cooks and waiters are different and the training and supervision could be very different too. The tables on the Lido Deck were cleaned pretty fast but not all that clean, just wiped off so sometimes still sticky/filmy. Never did see the Cabin Steward the whole trip but no complaints, I left notes and he did as asked.

I believe that he was referring to the Fantasy dining room on the Sensation.

  7. Should be and ROLL TIDE!!!!! SEC SEC SEC!!!!!!!

Ususally the lido bars will have espn on.

I think that there's a good chance that the SEC is completely overrated this year. I'm a Clemson fan, and I certainly realize the ACC's shortcomings, but I'll put our Atlantic against your East, and I think ACC wins every game.

West may be better, but I don't think its as much better as ESPN would have you believe. The bowls will tell the story.

  8. Embarkation was very easy. When you walk in you show the 1st person your boarding pass. Then you walk through security. I had a small cooler with water and juice boxes and a bottle of wine. I also had my cross body bag with all my travel documents. I didn't take a "carry on" with extra clothes and stuff. You put your stuff on the conveyor belt and let them scan it and you walk through the metal detector and grab your stuff on the other side of the metal detector. Then we were directed to go to a line where they wanted you to show them the form about your health. Then we went directly to the counter where you sign in and receive your sail and sign card and set up your account. From there you travel up an escalator and start your way down a long hallway until you reach the gangway and you walk right on the ship.

As far as the Port, we used a cheap parking alternative so I can't give you my opinion on it. From Dropping my sister off though, it was easy to find GPS took us right to it. When you pull up someone will direct you to pull up into a parking space and unload your luggage and the entrance to the port is only a short walk down the sidewalk. I'm assuming after you drop your luggage you go park your car and then walk back.

In regards to formal night, my sons wore button ups, khakis, and casual shoes. I don't think they are strict on attire because we were surprised to see a couple of folk in jeans. On the other hand there were some in suit and ties. I didn't witness any tuxedos. I'd say wear what makes you comfortable after all, its your vacation.

Thank you for your quick response, and thanks again for the detailed report.

  9. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but since you are in suites, you are priority anyways and did not need to purchase FTTF!

One of the main reasons that I wanted it was so that my cabin would be ready when I board. I did not purchase FTTF last year and although we were boarded by about 11:30, our suites weren't ready until about 1:30. It wasn't a huge deal, but we had to lug our carryons and the drinks that we brought onboard around for a couple of hours. Its worth it to me to spend $50 simply not to have to do this.

Thank you all for the help.

  10. I think you are misunderstanding the dining priority. if you have early dining and want to change it, you will have priority over everyone else (except diamond and platinum)

you don't get any real dining priority on the ship

So, what you're telling me is that it won't help me on my time dining?

    Thanks for the quick responses.

  11. I have booked two suites on a 4 day cruise out of PC on the Sensation; one for my wife and I and the other for the kids.

I purchased FTTF for one of the suites so that we would have somewhere to put our carryons and beverages immediately when we get on the ship.

I also hate lines with a heated passion, and part of the reason that I purchased it was if I ever needed guest services. I understand that FTTF also gets priority dining.

Since I've already bought FTTF for one cabin, should I spend the money to get it for the other so that they can enjoy the guest services and dining priority? I am assuming that it would be worthless to me in the dining priority if both cabins do not have it.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. they are crooks.

Make sure that you agree to a price before they start. My daughter wanted her hair braided and my DW was bound and determined to ensure that it happened.

The lady sat her down in the chair and I kept asking what it was going to cost and she would only reply, not much don't worry I'll take care of you. I continued to ask, and my DW said don't worry, that's what the child wants I'll get it.

$170 later, my DW learned a valuable lesson.

  13.
Always buy Travel Insurance. I was a travel agent and always heard many different issues that are unforeseen.
Last 3 cruises the ship had to medvac psgrs.
I recommend Travel Guard. It will usually cover pre existing conditions of purchased 7 days from your deposit. You can also add on options like " cancel for any reason"
Thanks for this entire thread. I usually purchase travel insurance, but I was going to go without as CCL was charging $100 per passenger in my party of 5. Went to Travel Guard and purchased a comparable policy for $150 total. Feel much better now.
