Ok, haven't sailed Princess in about ten years. Called today to try to find out what's available December 2019 for Caribbean. Put on hold for about 5 minutes. Rep said she can't find anything, well that's why I called. Transferred to a supervisor, put on hold, was told the same thing. She put me on hold and transfered again where I was not so politely told "they're not out yet." Then she hung up on me before I could even ask release date. Unfreaking believable.

Better food, beautiful ships, great ambiance, better entertainment. Think 4 Seasons over Hilton. Resort casual for attire. Cocktail attire for Chic night. You won't get crew and staff all in your face. Limited announcements through the day. More resort, sophisticated style. Our line of choice in States.

Agree with most. Carnival's perks ate weak as best. I'd keep the Afts...also, was it upsell or upgrade, often makes a difference to decision

First RCI cruise......so from my understanding....there is no fresh grilled burgers and fries (like Guy's joint).....cafeteria style burgers and hots probably in some big metal container of "juice" on the buffet and soggy fries......No Blue Iguana or anything comparable to that on RCI.....

 

What great "FREE" food items does RCI have?!?! What is there to eat for lunch?!?!!? What am I missing here?!?!

Hmmmm ok I will need to think about that the teen thing then. She isn’t into the teen clubs really, prefers to hang with us and attend the game shows, shopping, etc. but lack of water slides and those types of things may affect my decision. Will definitely try Celebrity as a couple though.

Celebrity is a bit more upscale and sophisticated. While they have an excellent kids program, they do not design their ships or cruises to be family focused.

Coming from Carnival and HAL I wouldn't worry too much. We adore Celebrity. Think casual sophisticstion. Cabins are well designed, ships are beautiful, dining is great with many options. Relax, people love nothing more than to piss and moan. Ease your mind....you'll have a terrific time.

Am I seriously reading this correctly? We have booked a spa ocean view cabin on Maasdam for next month, and it does not come with spa no??? That's the main reason we booked that cabin! We had a spa cabin on Carnival Dream and it came with two spa passes. I had planned to use my OBC for massages, not passes.:mad:

I know.....really really rethinking booking this trip. Plus smoking in casino another issue. Not a plus at all.

It is included in cabin package for both Carnival Spa cabins and Aqua Class on Celebrity. Rather disappointing to hear. We're looking at Niuw Statendam for Decenber 2019 would be first HAL for us. Hmmmm not sure

So Spa pass is not included in SpaVeranda cabins as on most lines?

Didn't it used to be only on that particular trip? May be confusing my cruiselines but thought they acknowledged highest level in cabin.🤔

Upgrade is free.....a PRpromo from cruiseline to open up a lower catagory to sell. Upsell is a phone call or email and you psy to bump up catagory. Upgrade as rare as a unicorn these days, upsells common on slow selling cruises or if a consolidator turns back a block of cabins.

I don't see that being likely. There is nothing wrong with an overabundance of caution from the authorities checking out a report like this... But if there were a large number of explosives in the port (or even if they believed it possible or likely) they would immediately move the ships out and close the entire port. The media loves to speculate and create attention for itself... One reason I despise them (one of many).

Value for codt. Plus we left Princess in late '90's. Had bags broken into on 2 out if 3 cruises. Never looked back. Do Celebrity, Azamara and Viking now.

Well we booked a Celebrity cruise in 2018 for 2020 day it opened. Got last room in our catagory choice 12minutes after posted. Happens. Also prior to non-refundable deposits many people booked multi cruises when they opened, they narrowed down and dumped them close to final payment.

This post is a perfect example of people booking without truly understanding what they are getting. Viking has been very clear on the vibe and feel of what they wanted for these ships, and have been very open in explaining that in their press and digital statings. These ships are the ocean version of their river cruise. The experience is the actual cruise unlike most American geared lines. I personally love these ships. It is nice not to have the constant noise and harping about the next sale going on. While we still sail Royal and Celebrity, we find ourselves more and more moving our cruise dollar over to the smaller lines including Viking. For those of us who truly enjoy a more authentic experience, it is worth a look. For those who don't this is simply not the line for you. Happy sailing.

Good advice. About 90 days out? Totally lost on cabins....

Been sailing smaller lines so much has changed since our last RCCL cruise. Adult kids have booked this cruise and hubs wants to surprise them. Looking at balcony, like aft area so your cabin recommendations, do's & dont's and generally what do I need to know. All recent sailings have had Bev packages included along with specialty restaurants, recommendations on these please. Hadn't realized how much has changed. Thanks in advance. Doc
