  1. The worst cruise I was over on was on Majesty last December. Cold and windy weather. There's just not enough to do inside under those conditions.

I've opted for a larger ship from that point on and will continue to do so in the future.

We always loved the smaller ships. But we too are opting for the larger ships for that exact same reason. When the weather is bad it's nice to have a promenade to go to.

  2. On the Oasis last week. Izumi hibachi has 2 prices. $30 if you wanted chicken etc. $35 if you wanted the lobster. Their menu shows what is included for each price and you made your decision based on that. Obviously if you want lobster it's going to cost more than chicken. Plus they let you mix and match. I had steak and lobster and the cost was $35.

  3. when last month were you on the ship? What was the reason for the pool being shut down at the same time?

We were on the 10/30 and 11/23 sailings. The first time we got the Legionnaires email after we sailed in October. The second time I think they said it was problems with the pumps or piping something like that. However, when they shut the pool down, they seemed to be able to fix that problem within 6 hours. Never could get a straight answer on the hot tubs.

  4. The current Viking Crown lounge for D, D+ etc is a real yawner. You are better off going to the Schooner Bar and using your vouchers. There were a total of 5 people there on the first night we went and that included us. It was so boring we never went back. Got our drinks at the Schooner Bar instead.

  5. Since you are going after the refurb you should be fine. I would not suggest the Majesty to anyone prior to that. We were on the Majesty in both October and November and none of the problems have been fixed. Hot tubs still closed down, and one pool was shut down on the November cruise as well. The public restrooms especially near the pool area are gross. The stateroom was actually in decent shape. We love the Majesty but these last couple of times were not so good.

  6. We traveled on this ship Nov.6-9 2015. Just today we received this email you are all talking about.

I specifically asked customer service why the hot tubs were closed. " His reply was. They are working on them, they do not have the proper flow rate, they will be repaired by days end."

This was a well rehearsed bull faced lie!!!!!! Never again they get my money or referrals. I have not felt real good since this trip, now getting this email almost a week later, wonder if indeed I do have Legionnaires disease.

It makes me wonder if the employees know what is actually going on. Maybe that is what they are told, it's hard to know for sure.

  7. You typically won't find many people dressed up on a 3-4 night Carnival cruise. If you decide to wear it, I would suggest leaving the velvet jacket at home and bring a pashima scarf along. It's your cruise and wear what makes you and your children happy.

  8. I was on the 10/31 cruise and received the email on 11/13. The hot tubs were open the first day but closed the last two. I will be on the Majesty again on 11/23 and have full intentions of sailing on her. I feel if there is still an issue the hot tubs would be closed. After reading how you can contract the disease I feel safe going on the Majesty and will take my own precautions.

  9. The beach was 100% eroded when I was there the end of september. But the road is still there, the bar is still there, and there is plenty of places to stand as the planes come in. Just more dangerous as it truly is a little baby rock cliff now, not a beach.

I do have to say... This was my first time there.. and it was pretty cool.

and I had a great bloody mary at the bar

With the beach being eroded do they still have loungers there to relax on?

  10. When our kids were this small we had to bring our carseats from home.Checked them on the plane etc... PIA but had to do it...Dont risk it not putting your child in car seat at that age.. Ive been a firefighter/paramedic fir many years and seen many children ejected from cars for the want of a car seat... Just check it and bring it.

I agree with you, don't chance it. Those taxi drivers are crazy. The airline will check it for free as well. When we got off the plane we grabbed a luggage carrier for $5 loaded everything onto it and headed outside. When you get to the port the porter will take care of it as well so you won't need to handle it.

  11. I respect true service animals and what they provide. This is what we encountered. We were boarding a plane with my parents who are 79 and both use a cane. They made them wait to board because a couple carrying a poodle had priority boarding because it was a service animal. I am trying to figure out what the poodle provided that the spouse couldn't in this instance.

We were on a cruise where a service animal was in the dining room. Very well behaved and never moved while the owner ate. I just hope people don't use the service animal excuse to travel with them, and let the people that need them use them.
