1. In St Thomas, we just walked over to the tram for Paradise Point. I think you can buy the ticket through Carnival for $20 and just walk over and take as much times as you want. We spent about 2 hours walking around enjoying the view.

In Barbados, we went Catamaran w/ turtles. Its was a whole lot of fun. Catamaran took us to a spot to go snorkeling. They threw food in the water to attract the turtles so they were swimming all around us. After, they took us to a beach to swim. For whatever reason, they couldn't beach the catamaran. I think they brought it pretty close to shore, like maybe knee/waist deep water. I ended up sunbathing on the netting of the boat. Then they took us on the sailing part of the excursion and we sailed along the coast. I think it was well worth the $75pp. The rum (MT Gay Rum) was flowing after the snorkeling part. They also had Banks beer, a Barbados brew. It was pretty good, we bought a 6pack to take home with us on the way back to the ship.

  2. We did the first itinerary for our honeymoon on the Victory.

Loved St Maarten. It was my favorite port. We toured the whole island. Spent a few hours at Orient beach, had yummy pastries and coffee, watched the planes land at Maho beach, and visited a Star Wars museum. We snorkeled with sea turtles in Barbados. St Kitts, well we got off the ship and then got right back on. I was really turned off by how aggressive the locals were with their sales pitches. The itinerary was so port intensive (and exhausting!) it was nice to spend that day just relaxing by the empty pool.

I didn't notice the ship being overwhelmingly Spanish speaking. Most of the people we encountered on excursions, Chef's Table, & in the pools/hot tubs spoke English. The only 'problem' we had was being put at a table for dinner with Puerto Ricans that didn't speak much English. But, I'm sure we were put there b/c we didn't put in flight info into our cruise docs (we were in PR for a week before & after the cruise) and we have a Hispanic last name. Didn't bother us enough to ask to change tables.

  3. I have an 8.5 month old.

If you asked me a month ago, I would have totally taken him on a cruise. But right now he is SO desperate to walk (he took his first step 2 weeks ago!!) that I don't think we would have any fun b/c all he wants to do all day is climb and 'surf' all our furniture. He doesn't like to sit or be contained. AndPlusAlso, he's teething and VERY moody b/c of it.

We're waiting until next March, when he's 19 months, so he'll be able to enjoy himself.

On the other hand, my friend's little girl at 10 months old is totally mellow and is very content to sit and play with her toys. If my kid was like that, then I would go.

So I guess it really depends on the disposition of your kid.

  4. If you don't already baby wear than I wouldn't wait until the cruise to try it out.

The Ergo is pretty warm, so while it does give great support (I can walk for hours while wearing my 8 month old), it might not be the best option for tropical climates. A Mai Tai might be a better option for you to check out.

LO will be 19 months when we go on our cruise next year and I plan on bringing an umbrella stroller and a wrap carrier.

  5. Cruising in March 2015. When do excursions show up?

Right now, if I log in nothing shows up. I've never booked a cruise this far out. Heck, I've never planned anything this far in advance!

More specifically, when will I be able to try to get FTTF? We've got 2 days in Cabo. I don't want to have to wait in a line to tender with a 1.5 year old. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

  6. Well it's on its way. See it in October!

Yup. My son & I were on the Queen Mary and watched her sail away. I told him that next year he'll get to go on her. Not that he understood, but he liked when the horn blew.

  7. I would look around for airfare. We pay about $400 each to fly from LAX to SJU. Check Jetblue & Southwest. Free luggage. I wouldn't buy until airfare until fall, I think prices are supposed to be best about 3 months out.

PR is part of the US so no customs, but going back you do have to go through a agricultural check. No big deal but it might take a little extra time.

We did that cruise on the Victory for our honeymoon. Lots of fun but very port intensive. We were exhausted and just stayed on the ship at St Kitts.

  8. Search 'wine diaper' on Amazon. I have a few of them and have flown with them lots of time. They work great and if a bottle does break (none so far. Knock on wood) they are filled with material that will absorb it.

I also have stuck each bottle in a sock and then put it in a big Ziploc and make sure they are in the center of the suitcase

  9. Where do you store your belongings when snorkeling and enjoying beach time? I want our ID's to still be with us when we have to re-board the ship.:)

I have a few waterproof pouches that I use to keep our valuables with us. You can just wear them around your neck or wrist.

I have a few different sizes depending on my needs. Mine are all DryPack brand and I even use one to keep my Kindle in while I read in pool.

I've also seen 'beach safes' It looks like a bottle of sunblock but the bottom comes off and you can store your items inside.

  10. I really hope they're planning on bringing back the 5 day itinerary. It seems kinds silly to me to have both the Imagination and the Inspiration doing the exact same 3 & 4 day cruise to Catalina & Ensinada.

Maybe it's because I live here (20 minutes to the port!) But I can't bring myself to shell out the money to go on a cruise to Catalina. Skip those ports give me 2 days at sea and a day in Cabo
