  1. It won't be beach weather in November/December in Bermuda. Because it is off season some stuff starts closing in November. The ferry to St. George does not run unless you book NCL which runs their own ferry to St. George. The air temperature will be pleasant. In December ships because of winds the ship might not be able to dock so they will divert to the Bahamas but only for a few hours port stop to comply with the PVSA. I have done the Bahamas out of New York in December. It is cold out of New York and warms up sailing south. I don't particularly like the itinerary as Nassau is not very nice but there might be a nice port like Charleston. At Nassau we go to Blue Lagoon because we like beaches.
  2. Not exusing them but as a courtesy when I have assigned seating I always let the servers know know we won't be showing up. Either the night before or I call up the dining room. However with all the dining options the servers should be used to people not showing up. Since you have a table for two I agree with the suggestion to ask to be moved.
  3. I have not tried to connect to it for a few years but I found the signal was poor, unusable, back hten on the ship because of all the metal infrastructure and distance from their access points. The reason the cruise lines wifi works onboard is because the cruise line installs many access points onboard. There was signal where the shops and restaurants are located, I used to get a password at Frog and Onion. I don't know if they have improved it. I could pretty much only check email. As I mentioned these days I use my AT&T travel pass and on a three day stay I can time it so I only need two days.
  4. Unfortunately the only way back would be by taxi. There are no glow worm tours that I know of from the Dockyard. The BAMZ has done Glow Worm tours from Flatts Inlet but I could not find a 2023 schedule for those. You could contact the zoo but those would also require a taxi back to the Dockyard. When we were on cruises that docked at Hamilton and St. George we looked into the glow worm tours because they were much more feasible from Hamilton and St. George but we were never in Bermuda the right dates.
  5. On the dock at Flatts Inlet in front of the aquarium you might see them. Probably the tour done by Ana Luna is going to be the best way. https://analunaadventures.com/glow-worms/
  6. Cruise lines of late have been renaming the local excursions they resell at higher prices so it it is haed to compare. I am guessing it may be the glass bottom and snorkel combo from the Island Tour centre. https://www.islandtourcentre.com/snorkeling/glass-bottom-snorkel-combo-tour/ I have been on several glass bottom boats and while they were okay I was never wowed by any of them except one where several mean looking Baracuda stared at us the whole time. I think catamaran snorkeling excursions like Restless Native or Rising Son are more fun.
  7. It takes more than 6 hours. It takes 8 to 10 hours. Not all ships sail the same speed. One time the fog was so bad that it took 12 hours to return from the entrance to the bay to Baltimore. The fog horn was constant and we got no sleep.
  8. It appears to me that since US citizens are allowed to travel in some circumstances, closed loop cruises out of US ports without a passport, it seems some Europeans and Canadians are furious. Maybe they are jealous that they can not do the same? Do they really think most people sailing without passports care what some European or Canadian thinks about them sailing without a passport? All they know is that it is allowed and that is good enough for them. They are doing nothing wrong.
  9. This is what I see on my laptop. Search in the blue menu frame.
  10. The Chesapeake Bay is US waters. So you won’t get roaming charges. Just don’t forget to put it into airplane mode before you go to bed. You don’t mention your cell carrier. You need to include that info to get a reliable info on reception.
  11. I can search a topic on my iPad. Yes only in landscape but I never read Cruise Critic in portrait orientation. I never read it in portrait orientation on my computer either. Can’t do a topic search on my phone in any orientation. I can read the forums on my phone in landscape or portrait but the forum software does not have all the features on the phone.
  12. There are some situations where a passport can not be obtained in time. I don’t think “global strife” is a reason to get a passport. That could be more a reason not to travel. I would not travel out of the US without a passport but it is allowed on most closed loop cruises out of the US. So while it might not be a wise decision to travel without one the odds are that nothing bad will happen. Hundreds of thousands have taken cruises without one. But when we get older the odds increase that we can have an unexpected health event. We wear out.
  13. The rum cakes are very good but I prefer the fudge.
  14. It is unfortunate that the glassworks/rum cakes place has shut down but they rum cakes are still being made and sold on the island. I think if you check a few shops you will be able to find them, The craft market is obvious place to check but another place to check is the Dockyard Pharmacy.
  15. Yes but unfortunately Royal Caribbean in my opinion has the least informative document information online of all the cruise lines and if you call them their reps they can’t be trusted to give accurate information on documents. I feel sorry for OP but really her boyfriend could easily solve the issue by not being stubborn and getting a passport. Also does she really want to travel with an 80 year old without a passport who at that age is at increased risk of an emergency? Whether Martinique is on the itinerary or not he should have a passport. My subjective advice is that she should go and not have him come without a passport. If they want to go ahead and the policy is that he can’t get off the ship will police that. His card will ping and security will stop him. If he can’t board then he can go home and she can stay. Home seems to be York PA which is about an hour from Baltimore.
  16. The new requirement for Martinique requiring a passport went into effect in 2021.
  17. I guess we have a different take on oppressive. I think I have been to Bermuda 5, maybe more times in September, and did not find the humidity or temperature oppressive. Only month in Bermuda that it felt that way to me was August. September would be my favorite month in Bermuda if it were not the hurricane issues. May is too cold for the beach so I prefer June although the water temp could be a little cool then. Since I spend a lot of time at the beaches I like warmer ocean temperatures. Maybe because you live in New England and I was living in Maryland we have a different temperature threshold. I have now moved to hot, hot, hot. LOL and start using the pool in late April. The high here today will be 86….
  18. My experience has been that the end of August and first week of September are somewhat humid but by the middle of September the humidity drops and the temp is dropping too. Of course the weather can vary but September is when heat and humidity are going down. August is the very hot and humid month in Bermuda.
  19. The weather in Bermuda is pretty good then. Also great water temp. The only reason I stopped doing Bermuda in September is that because it is hurricane season I had a couple of cruises disrupted. The hurricanes did not end up hitting Bermuda but they were along the US east coast so the ships had to make course changes. A litle too much stress for me.
  20. OP asked who to contact at Coco Cay. That would have to be through Royal. I also doubt they would have anyone look for it. The optimal time to have had something done would have been while they were at Coco Cay. Finding the phone now is a long shot but we have read media stories from time to time of phones found in the ocean months later. So possibly someone will find it. Probably someone not looking for it but finding it by accident.
  21. RCI would be who you would contact. You don’t back up your phone to the cloud? Like to the Samsung Cloud or Google?
  22. The BAMZ,( Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo). The Zoo is small which makes it perfect for small children. We took a five year old and she loved it. Horseshoe Bay has a cove which is on the right side when facing the ocean just past the facilities which many have nicknamed the baby beach because it is shallow and protected from the surf. It is good for small children. The main part of the beach is fine too but watch your kids there. There are lifeguards. Another beach which is a favorite for famillies with small children is Jobsons Cove on the South Shore. Shallow and protected. No facilities there though.
  23. Yes, they posted it this morning on the NCL board.
  24. Celebrity has never been there though since it became Perfect Day at Coco Cay. There is nothing to say that could not change. They coud go there again. If it is a marketing thing they could call it something different the day a Celebrity ship was there. How about Perfect Luxury at Coco Cay.....?
  25. I read a trip review this morning from the May 7 Prima sailing. They reported that two chairs and an umbrella were $45. You should read the report. Has good info..
