  1. Were you bored on the sea day? How about doing about 7-8 of those?

TAs usually have price drops after final - unless you must have a certain cabin, I'd wait.

Thanks for the heads up on the price drop. I'll keep my out on the prices.

I didn't get board as I was on the top deck getting the sun. Just hope when the days aren't too good, that there is enough activities going on. :)

  2. I've been checking out previous posts regarding transatlantic cruises and found a few things really helpful. But what I want to ask is, will I get bored being solo traveller?

I've never done transatlantic before but always fancied it. I've just come back from my first trip on the oasis and loved the ship. I was sailing with a friend at the time who wasn't really into getting involved in the roll call activities and Meet and Mingle (which I did go to).

Also, would be worth waiting to book it on the Symphony (sailing in May) or just booking it when I think the price is right?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. Diamond lounge and concierge lounge.

To “pool” tips, to a person who learned English as a second (third, fourth, etc) language, would indeed be foreign.

And thinking that one conversation means it’s been resolved vs all the other conversations where opposite info has been gleaned is folly.

    Wind your neck in!

So the 8/9 members of staff I spoke to were talking rubbish??

Oh, and sarcasm doesn’t get get you anywhere.

    Rude!!

  4. When you tip employees directly in lieu of auto gratuities, they are supposed to put that tip money into the same tip pool that auto gratuities go to. In other words, however they are distributed to employees, it will be the same. Only cash you tip beyond the auto gratuities are they allowed to keep is my understanding.

Debunked on Oasis. This was confirmed by staff that there is no such thing as a pool. They keep the cash that are given to them.

  5. I’ll try to remain not as salty as some D/D+ members but this right here ^^^ is what really annoys me about Cruising from the UK

Our options are quite pitiful here in the UK: -

    P&O Cruises

    Fred Olsen

    Cruise and Maritime Voyages

With the seasonal deployments from NCL and Royal Caribbean of course...

If I look for a 2018 cruise out of Southampton during what I would have classed as quiet (I.e. not during school holidays) I get

    Independence of the Seas

    6th October 2018

    14 Nights Canaries cruise

Cruise, Return Direct Flights from Edinburgh to Southampton and Gratuities pre paid in a GTY cabin?

    £3252.30

Or I can book this: -

    Anthem of the Seas

    10th December 2018

11 Night Eastern Caribbean cruise with 2 night pre-cruise stay at 4* Wall Street Hotel

Cruise, Return Flights from Edinburgh to NYC and Pre-paid gratuities in a Virtual Balcony Interior Room with DELUXE DRINKS PACKAGE?

    £3702.16

Difference of roughly £225 per person, I’m on a newer and better ship, all inclusive in a cabin I can pick as well as being on a long haul flight on a proper plane? Compared to a bog standard interior room, hand picked by RCCL algorithms with no drinks package flying to Southampton in one of Flybe’s premier Bombardier propeller plane who’s principals of flight and takeoff success rate depends on where a passenger sits on the plane?!?

Bit of a no-brainier for me personally - granted I could save money by driving down but fuel, port parking costs as well as an approx. 8 hour drive does not appeal to me in the slightest (being as geographically disadvantaged as I am here in Central Scotland)

    First World Problem vented!!

Ha ha ha ha! That has made me chuckle. I’ve flown Flybe too and they do move you around so the plane is balanced before take off.

  6. Did they have the self serve donut area across from the dog haus in the boardwalk area? We were on the allure last year and although I found the donuts gross my kids though self serve donuts were the best thing ever so I need to prep them if they aren’t there.

I didn’t see this. It’s Ben and Jerry’s that is opposite.
