Southwest now flies into Long Beach (LGB).  Usual stop over in Las Vegas or Oakland.  Much smaller airport. Less hassle.  There are several good hotels around the airport with walking distance to food.

cr8tiv1, I didn't realize Southwest flew to Long Beach (LGB). I will have to check the flight schedules from Milwaukee, this will give me another option besides flying to LAX. I always try to get direct flights, but when booking a flight with a stop over to change planes, I try to get one with a longer wait time of at least two hours. Also taking a earlier morning flight does help. Like I mentioned before, I will fly in the day before the cruise to make sure we get on the ship.

Jenny, you can say I have been very lucky over the years with Southwest. The only time I had a problem was in Albuquerque. The plane coming from Phoenix had mechanical problems and didn't arrive in time, so Southwest did pay for our hotel room and rebooked us back to Milwaukee early the next morning.

We are sailing on the Majestic in November, and are flying Southwest because we can always cancel/change without a penalty. They don't refund your money, but you can use it to fly at a later date.

They just opened up booking dates to November 5th, the very same date we are flying into LAX. We'll have to book the return trip when they open up more dates later on.

CineGraphic, I have been checking Southwest and usually fly them 90% of the time. Normally they have a direct flight from Milwaukee to LAX, but not this time. I'll have to book a flight with a stop over in either Denver, Phoenix or Las Vegas. I guess I will book early and with the stop over it won't be bad because we are flying in the day before the cruise. I do like the fact if you have to cancel with Southwest you will get travel funds to use on another flight, no change fee, plus your bags fly free. From what I hear about EZair on cruise critic, people seems to complain about constant flight time changes. I'm glad to see from postings on here that many people do like EZair.

  3. We have a Oct. 16, 2021 cruise booked on the Majestic Princess for a 7 day cruise to Mexico. Final payment is due July 18th. Would you book your flight tickets now not knowing if the CDC will open up cruising by then. Normally I book early to get a better flight and price, but this time I will wait it out. Anyone else in the same situation with a cruise booked, but stalling on flight reservations?

  4. Bruin Steve, interesting way to figure the cost of the cruise or perks. The bottom line, we're paying for one or the other no matter how you look at it.  What date did you book on the Majestic Princess for the Mexican Riviera? We are booked on Oct. 16th. We have a roll call going for the cruise, come join us if it's the same date on the Majestic.

  5. Yes! The vaccine should be mandatory when boarding a ship. My wife and I just got our second dose of the Pfizer vaccine yesterday. Make sure you save your CDC vaccine card. Ours has the dates the vaccine was administered, the Pfizer batch number and was signed by a health professional at the hospital. At least the card is a start to some kind of proof to show the cruise line.

  6. I noticed one sentence in the Shore Excursion section that said, "This policy applies to all sailings scheduled during the declared Public Health Emergency involving COVID-19". The big question is, when will the "Public Health Emergency involving COVID-19" be lifted by the CDC. Hopefully it will be lifted by the end of the 2021 once the population gets vaccinated. Just my thought.

  7. Well I saw on the nightly news that the famous groundhog from Pennsylvania (Punxsutawney Phil - I had to check the spelling on that one) predicts six more weeks of winter because he saw his shadow. Well that might be the case in Pennsylvania, but our groundhog at the Milwaukee County Zoo didn't see his shadow. So I'm really hoping Wisconsin and our neighboring states will be spared and have a early spring if Gordy the groundhog is right. :classic_biggrin: This past Sunday we got 13 plus inches of snow in Kenosha, I'm so ready for spring.

Yes, I have found a way to check other cruises for the casino discount.

    Save your Princess Casino email

    Click on check available cruises

When that page comes up and maybe on the upper right you see 110 cruises.  Click below that where it says "reset filters"

Select your cruise.   You should have a black bar at the top that says "Casino" in the middle.  Click on that for casino prices.  You should see a red line on the left that says

    "casino prices"

Select your cruise.  When you pick out your cabin you should see new casino price

I received a casino discount E-mail from Princess with $100.00 free play. I tried following the directions above to see the discounted rates on a cruise I would select, but no luck. I can't get "Casino" on the upper black bar to show up in the middle or anywhere. Any advice is appreciated.

  9. I recently started using a Princess Vacation Planner, she was ok in the beginning, but every time I called her I had to leave a message on her answering machine. It would take her several hours or the next day to get back to me. My last couple of phone calls, she never even responded at all. I decided to go back to my old ways and do it myself. I'm done using any PVP, it's not worth the aggravation.

Hi Ken! Hope you and Darlene are doing well!! Rob and I have looked into the Majestic since a few of our cruises have been cancelled. We have a cruise for June but I suspect that will also be cancelled.  I may need to book this with the credit we have and just tell Rob about it IF and WHEN June gets cancelled 🙂 then we will have back up already in place! lol

I am curious to check out all the different things on the Majestic. Karaoke might be the only thing I wouldn't like from the Majestic, and that just saves everyone's ears from exploding with my screeches-think cat in pain-sounds a bit like that when I sing. lol

Hi Jenny, we are doing ok, no covid at least.  Darlene and I also had two cruises cancelled and are anxious to get back to cruising. If your cruise doesn't work out in June, you and Rob should join us on the Majestic Princess, Oct. 16th. We are looking forward to seeing the Majestic and doing Mexico again. We have a quiet roll call going already.

  11. We are booked Oct 16, 2021 on the Majestic Princess to the Mexican Riviera. Love the royal class ships and we're glad to have the chance to see this ship first hand. I'm sure the Asian "feel" will be toned down being in the North America market and besides the cruise will have more of a Mexican "feel" to it. Think mariachi band and dancing in the piazza. The Majestic may end up being our favorite ship and yours.

  12. This is a interesting topic. I myself would probably book a interior cabin to save some money and do more cruises, but my wife says no, so we always book ocean view or balcony cabins and do 2 to 3 cruises per year. When you live in the midwest, we also have to consider flight cost, so we like to book with a good cruise promotion when all possible. I'm just happy to cruise and that my wife enjoys it as much as I do!

  13. Looking forward to our Alaska cruise on the Grand Princess in May 2022. Sounds like the ship had a major redo in 2019. Thanks to brisalta for sharing the dry dock video of the Grand. Can't wait to get back to cruising!

  14. Just got off the phone with a different Princess rep who was very helpful. I guess my PVP was right about not being able to apply the casino fare reduction to our Alaska cruise tour for May 29, 2022 on the Grand Princess. The fine print states for "select" cruises. Our Alaskan cruise is one of those cruises that doesn't work with the casino fare reduction. She said other cruises could apply. Well you win some and you lose some. Better luck next time! :classic_biggrin:

  15. I received the $100.00 casino free play offer along with a 25% fare reduction for our 10 day Caribbean Cruise on the Enchanted Princess for Feb. 2022. We booked a balcony cabin. My question is, I know you can only apply the $100.00 casino play for one cruise, but reading the fine print it sounds like you can receive the casino fare reduction on multiply cruises you book. My PVP said I can only use the offer on one cruise only which includes the fare reduction. According to this thread, some of you are booking with the fare reduction on several cruises. Is this true and my PVP is giving me the wrong answer? Any advice is appreciated.

  16. We just booked the Grand Princess yesterday for our 10 day Alaska cruise & land tour starting May 29, 2022 from Anchorage. It mentions on Princess's website the Grand was refurbished in May 2019 and will be ocean medallion ready by then. We have never been on the Grand, but the Deck plans look good. I specially like that Alfredo's is shown on Deck 5 by the piazza. I have been on many different Princess ships and have always enjoyed each ship and what each one had to offer. Can't wait to get back to cruising.

why not pay a little more toward the balance and double that also 🍻

A Future Cruise Deposit is more than enough to give Princess in these uncertain times. For now I'm holding onto my money till I know when cruising will resume. Our cancelled cruise on the Ruby Princess for September and the future cruise deposits we had down on it was credited back to our Princess account with the double cruise credit in about six weeks.

  18. We are booked on the Sky Princess for Feb. 28th using Future Cruise Deposits ($200.00 total). Final payment is not due till Dec. 28th, so we will wait till then to make a decision. I'm hoping Princess will cancel so we will receive double credit on our FCD's. We would very much like to go on this cruise, but don't see it happening with the virus spreading in Florida. I expect the cruise port in Ft. Lauderdale to be closed this winter.

Just booked a cruise for 2022 and noticed that the Booking Confirmation did not show Military OBC, just Future Cruise Deposit OBC.  Looked at my Circle Savings Account and it shows that the Military Benefit expires 12/31/2021.  Is this a cost cutting move or just a paperwork drill to revalidate.

My military benefit also shows the expiration date of 12/31/2021. Hope when the time comes Princess automatically extends it to a later date. But the big question is will they with the pandemic shut down and loss of revenue?
