the meantime consider Air Canada or Aeromexico for flights home. Fly these airlines and DRIVE/CAR SERVICE  into US where no pretest is required (no test via land or ferry)

If we test positive we are considering this since we live right over the border. That being said, flights by celebrity would have to know our current status as would our trip insurance. I would assume somewhere along the way into Mexico somebody would ask us if we’ve had Covid in the last 14 days or some thing and then I couldn’t lie. The whole thing stresses me out

If you are Covid positive upon docking in an Italian port, the ship notifies authorities and you are escorted to a “Covid” hotel unless you have booked an Airbnb. Your quarantine is 10 days if negative by day 7 .  If you stay positive , the quarantine is 21 days.
You do have the option of staying on board (at no extra cost) and disembarking once your quarantine is over.
(At least that is how I understand it. Rules are always changing. )

I am wondering if this is still true. I can’t find anything current about quarantine hotels in Italy at this time.  With reading your experience, I think if we find ourselves in your position, we would get off the ship regardless at cruise end. So sorry you have been basically very mishandled at the least.

On board.  94 positives!  Out of maybe 500 tested.  Everyone was ordered to mask all the time following the high percentage.  Ship also denied entry into Morocco for positive COVID.  Morocco is Level 1 - negligible COVID.  There is a lot the cruise lines are not reporting.

    UGGG....how long was the TA?

We also depart on Monday June 13rd on Beyond. Landing in Rome Saturday evening [the plan was to test in Israel Saturday morning].

Found 2 pharmacies open on Sunday and performing the tests --

Near the Pantheon (were we'll be staying):

    * Farmacia Tor Millina, Via Tor Millina,6

    * Farmacia della Scrofa, Piazza Cardelli, 6/6a.

We plan to test over WI-FI at our hotel but if we have a problem this is good to know as we are staying in that area. I understand results must be in English -do you know if they provide in English?

We moved flights..thank you Celebrity Air to tomorrow and heading to LHR to check in 24 hours and provide

Good luck! Hope partner gets a negative! Yes, I have packed several home tests. Found a place to test in Naples day before departing home from Rome. That way don’t have to deal day of testing or ship WI-FI . Glad to hear Flights by Celebrity was helpful!

You allowed go stay upstairs as long as u test negative. However u must wear a mask when not in your cabin and eat all your meals in your cabin for 5 days. You would also get tested daily for 5 days.

Sounds reasonable.  What isn't is that quarantine rooms aren't balconies with fresh air.  Wondering if we will hear more on this down the line.

For the sake of discussion……. If you were to test positive at the end of your cruise, how does the quarantine hotel work? Does the cruise line, local authorities, or YOU, pick the location of hotel? Can somebody give any details of that type of situation? Costs, food, testing, etc? Maybe somebody has first hand experience of this situation?

Great question.  I did note that Celebrity offers to cover some on land hotel and flights if you test positive ON the cruise. I also note that testing at the port afterwards is at disembarkation (AFTER cruise) so for this reason we are choosing to test the day before in Naples.

Save yourself the money. If you have  X's unlimited streaming WIFI and you turn WIFI calling on your phone, turn on airplane mode, turn off roaming, and connect to the ship's WIFI you can use your phone onboard just as you would at home without any extra fees paid to your wireless carrier. If you want to use your phone in foreign ports you will have to contact your carrier to see what the fees are unless you connect to a WIFI on land. If you do that, the above applies.

Maybe a dumb question but I have an iphone, daughter back home has an android.  Will this still work to keep in contact with her while I cruise?

I am presently at a resort in Mexico .  My son and his wife are flying back to US today and had the required Covid test yesterday both negative.  He asked how many have tested positive, 0 was the answer!  A positive test results in the resort putting you up again for 2 weeks, no charge.  I’m guessing no one will test positive 🤷🏻‍♂️

I actually remember earlier on in the pandemic it was the opposite. Many of our friends were getting quarantined down there because the extended stay was on YOUR dime.

in any case I really hope this guy knows something- we fly/sail in less than a month!!

  10. I know there are a lot of cruises starting and ending in Rome I’m May.Assume most of them stop in Naples the day before porting back in Rome. Has anybody thought of getting an antigen test in Naples instead of waiting until disembarkation on the docks in Civitavecchia the next morning? Seems it might be less stressful. I have written to one pharmacy near the Naples port but was wondering if anyone else had looked into this?

  11. Hi, we typically cruise with another line.  Just booked for next year on Princess.  Typically we choose assigned seating at a 6-8 person table top so we are able to enjoy dining each evening with other couples that we aren't traveling with. I understand that Princess doesn't have assigned dining time/tables in the MDR.  Is it still possible to make reservations each evening with the choice to sit with other people we don't know?  Not sure if this is atypical or quite common.

    Thanks,,,

  13. We plan to use our ipad but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't prop it to get my nose and table at same time.  I purchased this and it works GREAT.  It tilts in every direction without tipping, including straight down.  I figure I can use it to watch downloads more comfortably as well. Only problem is that it is heavy.  Husband will pack it 🙂
