  1. I have found that it goes a long way and if my room Steward is working hard I tip them after providing me with some stuff. Recent cruise requested: Robes, Coffee Maker and mattress topper all were provided right away. I gave the steward a 100.00 bill and he was very grateful, by giving him the tip then he did not think I was going to be a jerky guy always asking for stuff. He was very nice and would not even dish on the worst cabin he had to clean: IE someone that drank too much, Spring break or 4 people in a cabin always needing something.
  2. You cannot remove them as they are no cost to you, just do not use the internet but you might need it to get your flight information for your return. The specialty dining is the same don't want it just don't book it. The shore excursion offer is just 50.00 off when/if you book a tour. This could be worthwhile for the end of the cruise. We never used our credit as the ships offerings were meager and expensive. You might be able to invite another couple to have diner with you if you meet someone you like 🙂
  3. I just came back from a 14 day on the Star I had a balcony and for 300 bucks total I was able to upgrade to a club suite. I think it was a decent deal our bathroom looked lie it was just redone it was pretty much spotless and having the tub provided lots of room in the shower. We went petty far south crossing the equator and having 2 thermostats and 2 units in the ceiling was nice. The ship was not full but I rally did not hear of many people getting upgrades 1400 out of 2400 capacity.
  4. Ship Norwegian Star Deck 11 Stateroom Category –Club Balcony Suite Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Cabin 11652 The cabin itself was great except that about halfway thru the cruise the cabin started to feel pretty warm and got worse as the cruise went along. The issue seemed to be the lack of airflow vs warm air coming out. If you have an issue report it and be persistent if they say it is normal ask to check another room to see if there really is just very little airflow. We kept the bathroom light/fan on in hopes of sucking in more cool air could not really tell if it made a difference. We did notice that it did get pretty warm while sleeping so there could be a setting to reduce cooling/airflow at night. The room itself has a nice balcony but the large overhang does reduce the actual view of the sky. We did hear some noise from above but never enough to wake us up or cause an issue. The bathroom looked liked it had been redone last week. All of the caulking was very white and the floors were very clean. You could see a little wear on the screws holding the sliding doors to the track but that was minor. the tub was nice and water flow to fill the tub was good. Shower head was anemic and I would recommend bringing your own shower head from home if you have a longer cruise. Since the parts are all plastic they are only hand tight. Internet was fine in our cabin did not work on the balcony at all, but speeds were for the most part very poor. Most people that had the by the minute plan had to go to the internet cafe every day to get minutes back. If you were logged on and the internet went down you could not log out but the timer kept on going. The bed was pretty firm but an eggcrate topper provided by the room steward solved the issue. Please ask for robes and a coffeemaker they have them but do not put them in all rooms it seems! The little window above the cabin number has a dial at the bottom where you can change it from welcome, to do not disturb, or make up room etc...
  5. Just have someone at home check you in it is the easiest way to tell the truth. More reliable who knows but it will not be the internet that is the issue!!!!
  6. The answer is quite simply it depends. There is nothing inherent that will stop it. However where the ship is located and how many people are online can cause an issue. Usually things will buffer it you have an app. It also will depend on your upload/upstream speed you have at home and how much traffic you have. I am able to watch my cameras I have 4 different kinds. On the day we were leaving it came in very handy as my brother in law went to out house to pick us up vs his mother's. We also use the cameras to keep track if packages that arrive as well as pets and the garage door opening and closing.
  7. We had a jetted tub one time and I used that to do our laundry, I have a video somewhere.
  8. I have chosen the NCL BOGO for my upcoming trip and I know I saved money since it is a cruise from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, I could not book both flights for 450.00/pp. The flights we have are not perfect but we got a 3 day deviation for out flight out and the flight back is not until 11PM that gives us a full day in Rio. The downside is that we have 3 flights going back but the times are not too bad. Regular economy and I have found it is best to sign up for whatever credit card you can for the Airline. I have first bag free with American and Delta due to my cards and the regular economy also gives me first bag free. American puts me in the lottery for seat upgrades and I think Delta does too, I need to check.
  9. But if you arrive at 2 PM there will not be any line more than likely not like someone if going to take your room 🙂
  10. I have had both and not sure which I would pick given the choice of either to tell the truth. We love larger balconies and usually book our cruises way out for just that purpose. Only had one interesting thing happen one cruise it seemed that someone was doing nude yoga on their balcony not realizing that the angled ones could see in. Never had an issue with wind on any balcony to tell the truth.
  11. I found this there are 2 drugs that are approved and it might work for you they are the only actual prescription drugs. A quick check found that one was approved for use in Spain so I would "assume" for the EU but check each country for any controlled meds you may take Is medical marijuana available as a prescription medicine? The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved the use of cannabis as a treatment for any medical condition. However, the FDA has approved the cannabinoids cannabidiol (Epidiolex) and dronabinol (Marinol, Syndros). Cannabidiol can be used for certain forms of severe epilepsy. Dronabinol can be used for nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy and for anorexia associated with weight loss in people with AIDS.
  12. Make sure they are in the original bottle and just to be 100% sure check with each country being visited. I take a med that is illegal in Japan I found out doing some research.
  13. So I called my agent to ask how you are charged my Norwegian card was compromised and that is the one I used to book. My agent said that you provide the card after the email is that correct?
  14. No reason not to bid just don't go too high, as long as you do not care about location. For me I would not bid another category that had a smaller balcony that what you have if the balcony is important to you. For me the side of the ship is usually important sunny side vs shade.
  15. I use the internet to make wifi calls back home have a mother in law and brother in law in poor health. I always give work the ships phone number and point out the cost per minute. We also enjoy being able to stream a movie from our room or check on our house/pets. I do not do any work as my job has no remote option. If I had no internet on a ship I would not cruise it. The itinerary I am taking is pretty unique but otherwise it is one of the first things on my checkbox when it come to booking a cruise. Starlink at home is different than on a ship but who knows.
  16. I have used VOOM a few times and it worked pretty well out in the middle of the Atlantic, I remember being mad for a day when they had to change over the satellite they were using. It was a big deal as they had a couple of technicians there to get it done. Hopefully they can get Starlink to work but I am not sure if the way it is designed would work well for a couple of thousand people using even multiple streams. 03B can hit 10 GB for a single ship I am not sure if Starlink can do that right now, maybe after they have more satellite up they could combine them together?
  17. When RCCL came out with VOOM a while ago and it was pretty good I am hoping that starlink is just as good. prices were not cheap though: The "Voom Surf and Stream" package is available for $17.99 per day, per device, and includes the ability to stream your favorite shows, movies and music at sea. "Voom Surf and Stream" also offers discounts for multiple devices, with a family rate starting from $11.99 per device, per day. We always get the package so we can do as video call back home if we need to and to steam some shows as well as check on the house etc. We are usually taking 14 day cruises and on a Transatlantice we have had 5 days in a row at sea so using an islands internet is not always an option. If the Internet is poor on our next cruise on the Star we will probably cross NCL off of our list. We were on the Epic quite a few years ago and I think the internet was OK then but a lot more people are using it now than 5 years ago!
  18. I would just stay as long as you could the lines will all be down and you can relax just make sure you are out of your room as soon as you can. You may want to take your luggage with you if they are not too large, who knows how much luggage will be left. I am not sure how good the security is at LAX, they probably do not check luggage tags for verification.
  19. It looks like the last 2 cruises have changed? https://www.norwegianvoyages.com/ticker.cfm?r=13&l=17&s=840&sm=202304&tm=202304&sp=y https://www.norwegianvoyages.com/fastdeal.cfm?deal=10692
