  1. I can explain why we eat at 5:30 every day and don't book traditional. First, it's just two of us and we prefer to eat alone. Second, it doesn't take as long so we can see the evening shows without a problem. Third, in the event of a late lunch, we can eat later on that day if we want to.

same here! we tend to eat early. Since there are only two of us, we can order very quickly, and get our food far faster than we would if we were at a large table, waiting on people to arrive, decide, order, eat their appetizer, eat their main....

we tend to get in and out in under an hour. :)

  2.

So, is it supposedly a no-no to show up for anytime if you already have confirmed seating? Not a big deal either way as the Lido deck buffet is always available, I am just curious and want to follow the rules.......

Dining is a choice. Early, late or YTD. If you chose early, that is what you get. If you want to eat later, the lido is your option. YTD is a controlled number of people, and cruisers who just show up throw off the numbers. It's pretty inconsiderate to those pax who chose YTD.

  3. Hi Cruise4me1978 I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I'm sailing on the Magic on 9/24 and didn't buy any insurance. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Our itinerary is Bahamas, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the itinerary but we plan to make the best of whatever happens. At the end of the day, it's a week away from our jobs :)

All three of your ports are open and receiving ships. :)

  4. We have a FTTF, so When I first arrive at the port, will I just bypass all of the people in line, or is there a separate line, or signs? Also my FTTF purchase reads 12 pm to 1 pm, is that the time I am supposed to board, or can I just walk right up at 11 am? Thanks!

    Happy Sailing!!

They will have a separate line, usually much shorter! :)

You can arrive for the first check in time for your port, the time listed doesn't mean anything.

  5. Will be on Carnival Glory the first week in January and looking for a beach....

We dock at 10am and one other ship Norwegian Escape will already be there (8am). No other

ships at this dock. I don't know about the other dock(s). Thinking of Coki since we have not been

to this beach yet. Have been to Magan's and Sapphire. Will Coki be too crowded by this time? Also,

is the "vibe" at Coki pushy as in vendors trying to sell you something constantly? Please elaborate...

If you want mellow and minimal crowds, I would suggest Lindqvist beach. Gorgeous!

  6. More sunscreen than you think you will need, and on a second note there I'll add to use lotion sunscreen instead of spray. If you are new to cruising just take my advice and check out all the people on the 2nd day of your cruise that have the CRAZY sunburn streaks from using spray sunscreen!!! You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it!!! LOL Sunscreen is WAY high on board so be prepared!! I would also recommend an extra pair of flip flops or beach/pool shoes! I had a flip flop blow out on our last cruise and had to buy a pair on board; paid way more than I would normally pay just for beach/pool shoes! I definitely agree with bringing a tervis or yeti to keep your drinks cold but I'd grab a cheapo one at Wal-Mart so you don't have to worry about forgetting or losing an expensive tumbler!!
I love the stick deodorant that Neutrogena makes. It also doesn't count as a liquid if you are flying!

  7. Thank you OP for posting this and to all of those who answered. We're sailing on the Sensation on Saturday and I was a little unclear as to how all of this works - it's the first time for us to use this procedure. It's good to know that we can still get in and drop off carry-ons right away. We're usually in and out pretty quickly - we like to keep out of the stewards' way when they're crazy busy on embarkation day.
You aren't supposed to drop off your stuff unless you have priority status of FTTF. That's why they started this, in part. Bc no matter how much you try to stay out of the way, your stuff is still in the way, and your steward feels compelled to take the time to greet you, etc. All of which slows down room turnover.

  8. Sailing Carnival out of Miami in early December. Parking at the port. What time should we arrive at the port? I want to be on that ship as early as possible!!

    Thanks to all who respond.

Check your booking, what arrival time did you choose? They won't let you into the terminal until then.
