  1. We will be with 3 kids on a Celebrity cruise in July. I am wondering how the ship app work for kids. We adults have downloaded and created passwords and user names. Can the kids use the same ones? Or do we have to create their own user name and password? The apps have a 'communication' area that we are hoping we can use to keep in touch while on the ship with the kids. Does this work well? Can anyone fill me in on how this works? We have always turned off our phones on our cruises.... but phones seem to be part of the cruise experience now.
  2. That's great to hear! Only 3 weeks till it's our turn.
  3. How exciting, let us know how it goes!!!

  5. We are in the same 'boat' as you! We are going on Solstice to Alaska in July with our 3 grandkids, ages 8,11,13. We decided to go just a few weeks ago and we liked the itinerary better and could get the cabins we wanted. We rationalized that Alaska ports were more important than the things kids would find on a larger ship. I asked this question on the family board...check this out. So we shall see. I'll let you know when we get back! https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/camp-at-sea
  6. Thanks, these boards are so valuable when trying to plan things out. We are taking our kids and grandkids on a Alaska cruise, but spending a few nights in Seattle first. Getting 3 rooms for 3 nights sure does add up!!!
  7. Has anyone else used this tour guide/taxi? The review sounds good, but very 'professional'. We are looking for a tour that would not included swimming/snorkeling.
  8. We have gone with Random Wind twice....both times were awesome.
  9. We will be in port till 11pm on a Thursday. Looking for something to do in the evening, perhaps a sunset cruise? Is anything open around the ship in the evening?
  10. We are looking for a catamaran type snorkeling trip in Grand Cayman. Anyone aware of one? Nothing is offered through the ship and I can't find anything online.
  11. I know this is an old post, but I am interested in visiting this park. Is it worth the trip? It looks beautiful on line.
  12. Did you find any more info on this? Would you share the golf cart rental place that you did find?
  13. Using points, but not enough so had to add $. Hugh difference in prices.
  14. This is so helpful, thanks for taking the time. Can you tell us how many ports are available in your room for charging phones/ipad etc? I usually bring a powerstrip, especially when traveling with the grandkids, but I am hearing that some of the cabins have several ports/outlets and that may not be necessary.
  15. Ok, thanks. Yes, we will be walking to Pike Place, Pier57, will use the Westlake Monorail etc. The price difference for the 7 of us was $1000. Plus the Garden Inn includes free breakfast which works well with the kids! So it made more sense to go with the cheaper Hilton. After doing research on these boards, I did cancel our car. Seemed like it would be more trouble than it was worth.
  16. We are booked at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown, on Boren Ave using our points. Location looked good, but now wondering if its a safe area to walk to all the 'sights' from?
  17. We are doing the same thing, late flights after our cruise. We will sign up for Port Valet, so we will have no luggage and will already be checked into our flights. We are flying in 3 days early, so will have already seen a fair amount of downtown Seattle. So we decided to rent a car from the airport for just the day. I have been doing some research on what to do outside of the city. We crossed off Mt Rainier, as we will have 3 kids with us and want something more active than just sightseeing. My plan so far is to go to Snoqualmie Falls (walk the trail) and to Fall City Wallaby Ranch (we already have reservations). I think we will all enjoy both stops. But it will not take up the whole day. We plan to be back at the airport early, but our flights don't leave till 10:30ish, so don't want to sit at the airport longer than we have to. Any suggestions for the rest of our day in that area?
  18. Thanks so much for this great day by day review. We are going July 15th with 6 grandkids, ages 8 to 14. This is the first time I will be cruising with kids. Where do you sign them up for the Camp at sea? What kind of activities do they have for the kids. I wanted to take them on RC, but we liked this itinerary better. So 🤞. And my DH wants to know if they are still handing out champagne when boarding?
  19. Good to hear! We leave in a month. Who is the cruise director and the Captain?
  20. Thanks, my confusion was the name of the tests. If a RT-PCR is the same as a EMED. I am not familiar with that name.
  21. Why didn't you take the EMED rapid antigen test versus a PCR test? The only 'Rapid Antigen Test' that I am aware of is a RT-PCR. That test gets results within 2 hours. Is that what you are referring to instead of the PCR that takes a couple days to get results? Or is there another 'rapid' test I am not familiar with? EMED? I'm asking as my grandson, who is supposed to cruise with us, was positive for covid. I want to make sure he has no issues getting on the ship if he is still 'positive'. We will make sure we have the COR paperwork, but would be simpler if he is just negative.
  22. Interesting, that would take some of the stress off of us. Wondering if all the planning etc will go to waste if one member of party ends up positive 2 days before cruise.
  23. Darn, we were looking forward to some good informative lectures! Who is the cruise director? And the Captain?
