  1. Hi Woodsie.

As you're from the UK (as am I) you won't get any price reductions should the fare drop in the future.

As mentioned it's a gamble between waiting for a promotion and booking early to get the room(s) you want.

Personally, this is my method, which I'm using at the moment to find our 2017 cruise.

Find a cruise(s) your interested in and just watch. I factor in a drinks package, so if the base price is low enough (factoring in the package) I book, or I wait for a deal including the package. Don't be fooled into thinking a drinks package is free, the base fare will always increase.

We're not too worried about room location so that's not something I look at. Even booking guarantees as that lowers the base fare.

There's no fool proof method, I've booked when I'm happy with the price and missed a better deal later (worst one was a drinks package deal the day after I booked) so as long as your happy with a price, book it.

  2. We are happy with Radiance Class up to Freedom. When I look at the oasis Class open down the middle I have terrible visions if that ship ever got into trouble the water has a path right down the middle and could sink more easily. Just my perspective.

Seriously? You haven't put a smiley so I'll assume you mean it.

If waters making it up to deck 6, you'll have bigger problems.

  3. Agreed. But Doge's Palace is still worth doing.

Also agreed. You still have to walk the bridge of sighs so you can tell friends and family the story, but the experience itself is nothing more than a corridor.

  4. You'll just need entrance tickets. No tour needed.

Personally, I think the view of the bridge is better from outside, on the bank on the canal. The inside is just like a corridor with bared Windows.

  5. Not to worry you in any way, I have just found this snippet of information:-

"Spare a thought for the humble Empress of the Seas. She is returning to the fleet after a long absence with Pullmantur. She’s not new, she’s not huge, and with all the attention devoted to Harmony and Ovation she must feel like the odd one out, pushed out of the limelight and into a corner by her big, bold sisters. However, in order to fit in with the style of Royal Caribbean certain changes have had to be made, including the addition of a rock climbing wall, high speed internet and Royal Caribbean’s signature steak restaurant – Chops Grille. And unfortunately that has taken longer than anticipated. The result? The first six sailings have had to be cancelled. Customers will be given the option of moving their booking to Majesty of the Seas or a later Empress of the Seas sailing or receive a full refund. Flight costs will also be refunded. All in all, a very costly exercise for Royal Caribbean and I can’t help thinking that right now they may have bitten off slightly more than they can chew. Not to mention the disappointment caused to all those customers. Maybe a case of less haste, more speed?"

That's a refit on the Empress. I'm sure there were many unforeseen issues that took time that was unplanned.

A new build will also encounter issues, but the builders (STX France) will put the man hours needed in to avoid late delivery and the fines that are associated.

That's not to say when Harmony sails, with me on her, that everything will be finished. Quantum sailed with work still being done. But I'll just put up with any problems.
