  1. Tonight was the second elegant night, the one with the lobsters!
  2. Ported in Amber Cove today, when we booked I immediately grabbed a hillside cabana. It’s a pretty good bargain as it includes unlimited slides and zip lines. My 12yo did laps on the slide for most of the day. We all enjoyed the hot/cold tub on the deck of the cabana. Spent a lot of time in the main pool as well.
  3. My 12 yo just did the zip line in his crocs a few minutes ago, I had on chacos and they were allowed.
  4. My son has had Cheers this week on the Horizon, every beer he’s ordered has been handed to him unopened.
  5. We stayed on and lounged around in the havana area, we went up to the seafood shack for lunch.
  6. Today was La Romana, we’ve been here before and knew not to get off the ship. The new pool area looked nice but reports from people that went said it was incredibly crowded.
  7. The North loop is mainly a tropical mangrove forest, it’s a lot more hilly and has great views. I forgot to get any pics on the North loop but trust me that is was more scenic than the South loop. We went to Cucina Capitano for dinner last night, it was delicious as always. We did get charged for the water on the table as I’ve seen complaints about. Two of my family have cheers and they charged the water and everyones drinks to the two accounts, so it didn’t bother me. Although, I can see how it would tick some people off.
  8. Yesterday was Bonaire. We reserved golf carts when we booked the cruise. I highly recommend renting from Bonaire Cruisers, they are a short walk from the pier and make everything really easy. My wife said it was the most enjoyable thing we’ve done on any of our cruises. There are two loops you can drive on the island, a South loop and a North loop. The South is mostly an arid landscape with a lot of wildlife. You will encounter flocks of brilliant pink flamingos and donkeys roaming the countryside.
  9. Got off the boat today in Aruba, went to Eagle beach. It was pretty easy to find a shuttle over there. We had planned on taking the bus but there were a number of people offering rides there for $5/person. The beach was beautiful and the sun was intense, we all came back looking like it was lobster night. Hit up lido tonight, most nights it seems to have the same menu as the MDR. Now we’re back on havana, four people out here tonight. Sailaway from Aruba will be happening soon.
  10. Desert didn’t upload for some reason, wish I could eat it again!
  11. Had reservations for Jiji’s tonight on the recommendations of many folks here. Holy heck, best meal on carnival by a long shot! Way more food than we could’ve eaten in all eight days. All of it delicious, even my kids loved everything.
  12. Gen just brought around another round, she’s a sweetheart.
  13. We have 5233 and 5236, both havana cabana suites. There are four of them on the ship. When I booked I wanted two on the same side, in retrospect having one on each side works a lot better shade wise.
  14. I think my favorite part is the huge bathrooms and the shower head with an actual glass door instead of being attacked by a plastic curtain.
  15. We’re liking our cabins, it’s nice to have a cabana on both sides, one is always in the shade.
  16. I saw at least two people with cigars in hand wander onto the havana area looking for a place to smoke them today. While watching the dive in movie (M3GAN) tonight it was apparent some folks found a place to smoke left handed cigars.
  17. Watched M3GAN on the dive in movies, decent movie and the ambience made it even better. It was a beautiful night, decent temps and just enough of a breeze on the top decks.
  18. Chocolate panna cotta and the chocolate melting cake were the deserts, both were delicious.
  19. Made it to the MDR for the first elegant night. Had a shrimp cocktail for an app.
  20. I haven’t seen that offered this cruise, but perhaps I haven’t noticed. I preordered the four bottles at a fairly reasonable price, and my carry ons were definitely quantity over quality.
  21. My moral conundrum solved itself. They called the room today wondering if we’d gotten a bottle of Titos by mistake and had we opened it? Upon hearing it was still unopened they picked it up and brought my rightful two bottles of cheap cabernet. For my four trips to guest services with an unworkable card they gave me a free drink coupon. Used that for a strawberry daiquiri today. I’m going through about 2 bottles of wine per day, my 8 bottles should get me halfway through my cruise.
  22. Pulled myself out of the havana pool and sauntered down to Lido for some late lunch. Had a ringer from Guys. The fries aren’t the same but I thought they were pretty good.
