  1. Log into your Verizon account and then select the rewards on top left side of page to redeem for many different items. Some are free some items are reduced in price by redeeming a certain amount of points. As for the Carnival e cards, you could purchase 50, 100, or 500 to use to pay towards your cruise or to have as OBC. You save 10%, so if you select the 100 Ecard it actually only costs you $90.00. After you purchase an e-card you simply log onto your carnival account and apply as payment. If you want for OBC you take on ship with you and either redeem at kiosk or go to guest services to apply to your sail and sign. There have been a few other threads on this if you need any more info.

  2. Yes, we took a cab and stayed there for the day. Just check the higher ground where the tide or a storm carried the fans and sea urchins etc. I bet you'll find some treasures. Happy hunting. I have all my finds on my cruise collection table in my family room. The sand dollar was completely dry and so white. It was all in one piece until I packed it. It still looks ok until you pick it up and look at the bottom, it's missing.

  3. You found all of this there? Wow. Nice collection. They allow you to take the sea fan back as well with no questions asked?

Yes, no questions asked. I actually found another purple and white one but gave to my friend. I could not believe how many different items I found. I even have a young man from Peru a large Sea fan. I was way down the beach I believe at Pillary beach. I found most at the high water mark. Not near the water.

  4. You seem to have everything you need medicinal listed. How about a toy, stuffed animal or something that they go to for comfort. Check with their mom she will know what that item would be. Your a great Aunt! Have fun making memories with your nephews.

  5. I found so many shells and beautiful coral in Grand Turk last November. I brought them all home. I had one conch shell but it was all white and I had trouble getting all the sand out. Happy hunting.

  6. Moxie99 that is great. We had that kind of luck on a previous cruise, hubby kept winning , I won and my son won. We just couldn't on the premier cruise. Like you said we win some we lose some. It's fun either way. Lyndamr yes, our drinks on us card was in the room in a lanyard.

  7. I have seen everyone post different reviews of these shuttle services from FLL to Port of Miami. I agree some can be troublesome. We just got back from a cruise and used Jiffy Jeff Transportation both to and from the airport. This was the third time we have used them in the past two years. They have always been reliable and communicate with us from the moment our plane lands. We have had bad experiences with various companies before that have bad communication but Jiffy Jeff was not one of them. They were prompt, reliable and gave great instructions to be sure to pick us up in a safe and convenient location. The Mercedes van was very nice and clean. Jeff was very knowledgeable and made sure we had an entertaining and enjoyable ride.

All of the prices seem too be similar in the area so we always look for the best in customer service. Jeff seems to be the best at that. I have them booked for our next cruise in October 2015.

I agree I use jiffy Jeff whenever we fly into FFL. His very courteous and timely.

  8. A year ago today I booked my first Carnival cruise. For years I put off sailing on CCL because I heard so many negative comments but was looking for an escape last winter where I didn't have to fly and decided that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have to go again.

Lo and behold, I ended up cruising on Splendor 5 times for a total of 37 days. (4 -8 day and 1- 5 day) Here is a mini review of my journey:

Embarkation/Debarkation: New York is the easiest port for me by far. Perhaps it helps that I travel solo with a carry on so from drop off at the pier to the ship (cabin) was never more than 20 minutes. I don't care about being first on board so getting there around 1:00 worked for me. Coming home was just as easy. On one trip I was back home (Jersey Shore) in my house at 9:30 AM. The last cruise was the repositioning so flying home from San Juan was different.

Cabins: I had a balcony on the first four cruises( 8353-8375-8359-8399) I had the same cabin steward on three of the four so that made it really special. Juan was wonderful. I did an inside on the last one (7425) because of the ban on smoking on balconies. I'm not going to pay for a balcony if I can't smoke. By the way, I've quit smoking since and I still don't know if I could do an inside again. Too claustraphobic for me but time will tell! On every cruise I got NO Single Supplement so this was another reason I did 5 in under a year.

Cheers Package: I did it on every cruise except the first and to me it was well worth it even though I also earned the Drinks on Us in the casino on every cruise. Unless I quit drinking too, I'll always get Cheers!

Dining: I did Early, Late and Any Time. Any Time wins for me and I will always do that on any cruise I sail in the future. I did room service every morning for coffee and whatever and enjoyed the Deli for sandwiches. I went to the Steakhouse twice and that was good both times. Did the Seaday brunch on every cruise. I kept saying I was going to try it but never made it to the Lido Buffett in 5 cruises. I'm really not a fan of buffetts of any kind. Food overall was very good. On some of the cruises, it was better than others.

Excursions/Ports: (Nassau, Freeport, Port Canaveral, Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antiqua, St. Kitts, San Juan, Halifax and St, John, New Brunswick) I only did one on the first Bahama stop. Balmoral Beach. It could have been skipped. I had been to all the ports before on other cruises except for Grand Turk, St. Kitts and Half Moon Cay. Those were beach days for me and I enjoyed them all. For a portion of all the cruises combined, I stayed on the ship most of the time and enjoyed the emptiness!

Casino: I did very well on the slots on all but one cruise. Casino Bar staff are the best.

Entertainment: Saw a mix of shows and enjoyed the late night comedy the best. On one of the cruises I didn't see any shows at all and on another went to just about everything. It varied each trip..

Overall, I made new friends on this journey and we have gotten together since locally and are planning other cruises and get-togethers. Carnival gets my vote as the friendliest of lines I've sailed on and I never felt ill at ease traveling solo. It's a great way to meet other singles too!

I'm terribly disappointed that they aren't sailng from NY again this winter. I would most likely be on one now.

Looking forward to the next adventure and very happy that I gave Carnival a try!

Any questions.....I'd be glad to help.

Welcome to Carnival! I hope you embark on some of the other ships and have a great time as well. I have yet to sail the Splendor or out of NY. I live in NY, but normally fly to Florida.

  9. You can order from Bon Voyage on the website and pick the night you want it served. I have done this a few times. The large cake may leave a lot of leftovers. You may want the small unless you have enough people traveling with you to finish it.

  10. I sailed a premier cruise and really did not have trouble getting on a machine. If smoke bothers you then you may have an issue. I don't think it was too smokey but I'm tolerant of it. Now the machines I have to say we're tighter than tight!!

My DH and I could not win a dime to play with. But hey, you might have that Golden Horseshoe. Don't fret too much about it and enjoy the perks and excitement.

  11. Apologies for using this thread to post a question but the board is not currently allowing me to start new threads, I can't even find the button. Must be having a glitch.

I have a question about Open Dining on the Dream. Two of us are going. Will we have the option of sitting at our own table or will we have to sit with others? I am really introverted so sitting with total strangers is awkward for me. If they have tables for two, it would be nice to know we can get one of those, even if there is a little wait.

You should not have a problem. My DH and I sat at a table for two each evening. Just ask the first night and they usually remember and will ask you each night if you still wish for the table for two. If not, just ask again. Enjoy

  12. I believe the cruise cash is non refundable. I would save the ecards until you need them. Although, It has been stated by other posters that you can download any remaining cruise cash to you bank at the casino and cash out at the cashier. That's the nice thing about the ecards, they never expire. I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong.
