I just received the same email. It’s disappointing
-
Thank you. Yes I should have specified Princess. Got burned in how they handle promos and OBC so don’t want to pay $100 US for an FCD and have it turn into $100 AUD
-
I will be on an Australian cruise and wish to purchase a Future Cruise Deposit for use in the future on a Caribbean cruise (not net booked). I live in the US. All onboard transactions on this cruise are in $AUD.
I will buy the FCD with my credit card. Will it be charged in US dollars or $AUD? What amount am I charged?(In past i have paid $100 US$)
then, later, when i go to use it, what will the value be?
-
I agree with you. Will just use credit card. Thank you everyone for the ideas and info
-
Or, any better suggestions for Wellington?
-
Maybe. Depending on what exchange rate is being used. Just looking for best financial option to use
-
My princess cruise in Australia will use AUD$ for onboard currency. If i want to use a debit card when paying off my account when disembarking, to avoid the credit card surcharge, does it matter if that debit card is loaded with US$ or AUD$?

Has anyone ever done this excursion? Comments?

Take a coastal drive around Oriental Bay and Evans Bay Parade, past the iconic Wellington Blown Away sign before a visit to the famous Weta Cave Shop, the hub of Weta Studios. Here you can snap a selfie with the life-sized sculptures, wander through the mini-museum, and watch the exclusive documentary. It's a movie lover's paradise.
The coastal theme continues with a drive along scenic Shelly Bay and around the Miramar Peninsula, including a lunch stop at a seaside cafe or restaurant (mains and a drink included). The tour takes on a sombre tone with a short stop at the Wahine Memorial Park before you explore the south Wellington coast, Taputarenga Marine Reserve and Te Kopahou Reserve Visitors Centre.
As the tour returns to the city, optional stops are available at central city locations, including the Cable Car, National War Memorial, Brooklyn Wind Turbine or Old St Paul’s Cathedral before the final drop off.
Information:
-
Duration: 5 hours
-
Suggested start time: 1000
-
Group size limits: 2 - 11
-
Departs from Wellington i-SITE, cruise ship or from local accommodation by request

I am taking a cruise in Australia-New Zealand in January. On board expenses are in AUD$. The OBC we have so far for promo snd military is now shown as AUD$.
I am based in the US and booked thru US. If i purchase additional OBC up front to avoid a balance to pay at the end of the cruise, how will it be converted? Will $100 US be translated to AUD$ at a currency exchange rate or will it become $100 AUD like they did with the military and promo OBC?
then, if all the prepurchased refundable OBC is not used, will it be credited back as US$? At an exchange rate?

I went to the Blue Mountains a few years ago on my own. Took the train.
This past March we did a walking tour of Sydney. It lasted about 2 1/2 hours. It was very good. One of those 'free' tours where you pay what you want at the end.
The rest of the time we were on our own. Take a ferry ride over to Manly or Watson's Bay.-it is a very easy way to see more and there is really no hassle.
Hi. I see 3 different tours on the Sydney free walking tours but having trouble deciding which to do. First one is called Sydney and Rocks tour. 2.5 hours. The third one is called Sydney sights downtown and rocks. Also 2.5-3 hours. Anyone understand the difference?
There is another tour called Rocks at 6 pm but that is more clear how it is differentiated.

My son was married on Megans Bay many years ago while we were on a cruise and reception was at Banana Tree Grille. We all had so much fun. I guess due to hurricane damage, the Banana Tree Grille will not be reopening? Is that correct?
We will all be returning to st Thomas next summer on another cruise. Had been hoping to see it again. Is the building still there? Is there anything to see?

I am so curious what the price difference is for the same cabin on an Aussie cruise when purchased from within Australia vs purchased from within USA. Princess pricing, no TA. Just compare cabin price apples to apples since Aussie prices I guess include the gratuities in the fare
-
Only military ibc from Princess is refundable. Shareholder obc is not. Sometimes if your TA gives you additional obc it might be refundable
-
This is fantastic. Thank you for taking the time

It’s very obvious if one does any research at all that you can purchase the train tour on your own and pay much less. Except in the cases where the cruise line blocks out the entire train for certain days so no other option. Princess does this

Agree with above. If you have not yet gone thru the old locks, do that. Sooooo interesting. We were on the island at xmas and had a great time

We decided to rent a car and tackle on our own. Any recommendations for a path or itinerary is appreciated. Would like to see the countryside, geysers and boiling mud pools, blue/green lakes? Is there a forest? Would like to do a little moderate hiking. Not interested in Maori village on this trip. Thanks for any suggestions

What currency for FCD?
in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Posted
So it sounds like when i am on my next cruise where the onboard currency is $AUD, i will be able to purchase a new FCD with $100 USD. Then when i use that FCD later on a US based cruise, it will be worth that same $US 100 has a deposit. True?
