So just one last bit of advice...for the best chance at avoiding dehydration should I drink the Liquid IV right before having a drink or immediately after? I'm not much of a drinker so having one or two is my limit and that's only once a week or 10 days.

I like to pre-game with a Liquid IV before I go out for drinks. Then, if I've had more than 4, I'll drink another one when I get home (if I remember). Otherwise, it's the first thing I have when I wake up the next morning.

Thank you for the information - and it sounds helpful. I had read that someone used the tablet and the staff didn’t want them to eat something from the MDR that they thought would be a problem. Since an intolerance isn’t life threatening like an allergy is, I do have some leeway.  If I look at the tablet and decide that a dish will not be a problem for me, I was wondering will I have the staff refuse to serve me that dish or will they be ok with my decision.  If they’re going to go by what the tablet says, then I may be better off not checking it.

I, too, have a dairy intolerance. I made the mistake of disclosing that on night 1 in the MDR on a Royal ship. The waitstaff did refuse to serve me certain things because of that. For example, the dessert was apple pie a la mode. I asked for the pie sans ice cream. Because the pie crust had butter, they refused to serve me (even though a bit of butter would not activate my intolerance). But they don't know that. We live in a society that likes to sue, so they, of course, are going to cover their butts. After that experience, I don't say a thing and just ask lots of questions about menu items that I'm unsure about.

While I'm firmly in the 'fly IN the day before your cruise' crowd, I'll bet that north of 90% fly/drive home immediately afterwards unless they take a short cruise and add some land based activity onto the tail end. I think for most it has more to do with the limits of available vacation days.  It's why the lion's share of 7 night itineraries depart on Saturday or Sunday. One of the best parts of being retired is the ability to 'linger' and/or travel when others typically can't/don't.

It also depends on where you live and where you're cruising from. It takes me about 6.5 hours to drive to Galveston, TX. I drive in the night before and then drive home the same day I disembark. IMO, there is nothing in Galveston I need to stick around for. Now, next summer, when I cruise to Alaska from San Fran, I'll certainly have a few days either pre- or post-cruise to explore the city.

We are on the Panorama 6/17 sailing, can't wait!  Just wondering which two nights are the Cruise Elegant evenings?

Also, we have a flight that leaves on disembarkation day (6/24) at 1:30pm from Long Beach Airport.  I was just wondering if anyone with experience cruising out of Long Beach and the Long Beach Airport could comment on whether that is late enough in the day for our returning flight, or if we should change the flight to later in the day (5:30pm).

    Thanks!

Elegant nights should be Sunday and Thursday. You will have plenty of time to get to the Long Beach Airport. I believe the all-call for off the ship is 10:30am so even if you're the last people off, you'll get to the airport with plenty of time... Airport is only 20ish minutes away. My DH and I are on the same cruise so we'll see you on Saturday!

Walked through a park to a pub around the corner- I was unaware of the British urge to drink in the street OUTSIDE the pub…. Most of the joints were half full at best on the inside, but like this outside

I would assume Londoners are similar to those in the Midwest of the US - as in, there aren't many days during the year where you can really enjoy being outside due to the weather - so when there is a nice, sunny day, the whole city ends up outside! If you visit Chicago or Milwaukee on a sunny, summer day with a nice breeze, the streets are full of people!

Are they happening now? If they are I’m sure I’m always asleep during them because we’re still far off time wise. There are only two channels I’ve seen on in that bar. Sport 24 and sport 24 extra. All I have ever seen on them is tennis, rugby and soccer. Mostly tennis. The primary bartender down there seems to be a big tennis fan so I don’t know if that’s always on because it’s what he likes or because that’s all he has. He has a bit of an attitude and he’s not very friendly.

Game #2 of Stanley Cup - Vegas Golden Knights vs. Florida Panthers - 7pm EST tonight! (Monday, June 5)

I taught middle school for many years before retiring. One year before Winter Break in a faculty meeting the principal announced that eighth grade teacher Ms. x was getting married over the holidays and that her new name would be Mrs. Boozer. He said, “Good luck to her,”.

I taught high school for 8 years before I got married... my maiden name is Beaver... Had a tougher time when I was actually in HS than with the kids while teaching. In college, I finally embraced it and played along - I played Powderpuff football each fall - Beaver #69 😉

Thank you!!! I must automatically do it the other way as my picture’s always post upside down

The up/down volume buttons go on the top. You can use the up volume button to snap the picture in landscape mode with your right finger... just like on an "old-school" camera.
