Up and down, up and down. But getting there, thank you. We won't get the final assessor report regarding if my CRV is salvageable for another couple days, but we are pretty sure it will be considered totaled. So I am starting research on a new one, which is very crappy because selection is scarce, prices are high, just as I knew they would be. Always a stressful thing, buying a car. And I keep trying to find back road routes from Raleigh back home if/when I get a new one. Driving an unfamiliar car on the major 65 mph highways in Raleigh--especially after what we just went through-- just is not something I want to deal with. So that is a real stressor. Already told Joe we need to have a third person with us so that he can drive his car home and person 3 can drive with me back in a new car.

Most dealers will deliver a new car. My mom bought her new car last month. The one she wanted was at a dealer 2 hours away... they brought it right to her house, she signed all the paperwork, and they left with her old one. You should def. ask about that!

It might backfire if it draws more and more xl flyers to Southwest. Prices will have to go up. If I need two seats, I should pay for two seats??

Southwest actually has a really great "passenger of size" policy. My mom is a big lady and has been using it for many, many years. She has to purchase 2 tickets. When she checks in, she is given a "reserved seat" sign to place in the seat next to her. After she has completed her trip, SW refunds her the cost of the 2nd seat. She never wants to inconvenience anyone - even her family when we're traveling together!

  3. I've got to make it 3.5 days with a school full of sugar-fueled children before I drive to Galveston on Thursday evening and board the Dream on Friday for an 8-night Christmas cruise. Since DH and I don't have kids and our families live all over, I can't think of a better way to spend the holiday than on a ship! It's an Eastern route - Key West, Nassau, Freeport, Princess Cay. We're in Freeport on the 25th - thinking that may be a ship day- unless anyone has something that is a must-see for us?

Speaking of glasses, I recently had my very first real eye exam, and got some distance glasses for driving.

At the ripe ole' age of 43, I just had my first actual eye exam. The Dr. and her tech were very shocked but did a great job explaining all the equipment and stuff. My eyeballs are all good and we'll keep plugging along until next year! Both my parents had to start using cheaters in their mid-40's, so I'm expecting that eventually... 😕

    Happy Hump Day TRIBE!

Does anyone have any web sites they can recommend that offer gift pkgs for folks who do not eat meat?

I take pride in spending time and thought on my gift giving and we have a relative who does not eat meat and I am totally lost on finding web sites offering gift pkgs.

    Thanks in advance.

Pears from Harry & David - they are literally the BEST. The type of pear is specific to their company and they are delicious and sweet. https://www.harryanddavid.com/h/fruit-gift/pears/5

I watched White Christmas last weekend. Bing, Rosemary Clooney (George Clooney's mom for the youngsters) Danny Kaye and that skinny Babe with the great legs whose name I can never remember-that Gal can dance-Ann Margaret stole her moves

If you want to read a really funny recap-style blog about White Christmas, check out Tom & Lorenzo. They repost it every year just because it's so hilarious! https://tomandlorenzo.com/2022/12/t-los-white-christmas/

The wait is over! A very quick labor this morning and to the hospital we went. 7:49am arrival and a 10:08am birth to our third boy! We did not know the sex of any of them until birth which is the most amazing surprise.  Everyone is happy and healthy! Not a bad room either!

    CONGRATULATIONS!

Also, sometimes store brands are better. I've found a few things, Fig Newtons and spaghetti sauce, where I like the store brand better than the name brand.

If you have an Aldi nearby, try their Fig Newtons. Many ppl say they're baked in the same place 🙂

Question for y'all... B and I are eyeballing cruise options for next summer, and on this NCL Pearl sailing we're interested in, the itinerary begins like this:

It looks like an initial night onboard in Venice, but having never sailed there I'm confused by the times, the Trieste, and the Tender Port thing... anyone know exactly what's going on here?

Trieste is actually a two-hour train ride away from Venice. Trieste has a port - you have to tender into Venice.

Going to our first pro hockey game on Monday in Vegas.  We have been to USHL and college games several times, but never pro.  P doesn't know yet and I'm hoping to keep it a surprise until we head to the game.

Make sure you get there plenty early and partake in all the festivities!! They have live music, a parade with the drum line, and lots of fun! Vegas hockey puts on the best pregame show!

We are considering the Choccoben tour for our January cruise, but I have some concerns about my DH being able to negotiate some of the terrain.  He walks with a cane and sometimes has trouble on uneven surfaces.  He can walk long distances, but becomes uncomfortable if he has to stand in one place for a long period.  Is the walking surface at the ruins fairly level?

I did this same tour this past March from the Ruby. The terrain isn't too bad... there are walking paths throughout that were easy - pretty flat with the occasional tree root popping up. With a cane and some patience, he should be fine!

A little bit off subject, but I figured I'd throw it out there. After the events of the Scarlet Lady cruise, and knowing that the Tribe cruise was coming up next, I decided to be "friends"

Sid - I don't know you in "real life" and I've only been a Tribe member for a year or so... but you are pretty good about showing your true colors, even in this little online world. We are all unique people with quirks that make people love us and other people hate us. Be yourself and enjoy the friends you have who know and enjoy the real you!

I am trying to book a Princess cruise out of Galveston for the week before Christmas next year (2024), then I suddenly questioned whether or not Andrew's school will be out that week or not. They have been off the week before Christmas for a few years, but next year, that means their last day would be 12/13, and that seems too early. I emailed the school to see if they had a prelim calendar for next year yet, but haven't heard back.

The deposit is refundable and the rate is so good, I'm tempted to book anyway and just wait and see. But I would be sooooo disappointed to have to cancel. Thanksgiving and Christmas both fall awkwardly for our school/work schedules next year and I can't find a good place to squeeze in a cruise after summer. UGH.

I'm an educator in Texas. Our 2024 Christmas break will **likely** be Dec. 21-Jan. 5.

I came here to rant… let me preface this by saying, if you know me, you know I’m the first to volunteer, I’m the PTO mom, I pop the popcorn & sling the pickles, etc. BUT we have a new principal at my littles school this year, and I think she hates parents. She’s got a dress up day, every day of the month. 😑 “Fun”tober can s*ck it!

I'm an elementary school Principal. That calendar looks like a nightmare to me! I do maybe 1 day per quarter and we have a big, special week in February where we dress up every day... otherwise, it's uniforms every day!
